  • Same thing with my LG Arena

  • i agree. this is bullshit. but what i don't understand is why my env3 wont take after market extended life batt i got from ebay. it worked like a charm and went for a week b4 it needed a change i should have never let it completely die cos now the phone don't want the battery and it keeps saying use genuine batt. if only there was a hack to force this shit to stop coming up in the software i have tried to bitpim the phone and attempted a flash and still nothing

  • congratulations, you can swap batteries between your phones

  • It's a piece of paper with chemicals on it.

  • take it to verizon and try to sneak their response by spy caming some how have your friend pretend texting or something lol

  • wow i hate verizon -,-

  • i think you sounded like forest gump at the end "thats all i got to say about this"

  • I think the main point is that Its not just your battery that gets effected! Lots of shitty flip phones are affected by rain and snow, even in your pocket. Your new phone got wet, ERGO you BROOOOKE it. Get a real phone:p

  • This just happened to me on my LG enV Touch, and I googled the phrase "use genuine battery", and apparently if you just put a very small piece of paper over the moisture indicator and it disconnects the sensor. It works, to my shock and awe, and my phone functions perfectly.

  • totally agree.

  • You never know what scam artist comes up with. Telephone battery sure sounds like it is a scam. It depends where the phone was purchase that will scam you.

  • not a scam you fucked up the battery and the other phone dosn't check

  • my dad has that phone had it for 2 years still has it its fine

  • its not a scam. you just got unlucky. i had that phone for 2 yrs and everything was fine. i even let my friend have it when i got an upgrade. and the phone is still doing fine. Ive had the phone during rain and nothing happend.

  • its an electronic device. any contact with any moisture can cause issues such as this. not to mention the lg 3400 you had powered up before you even pressed the power button which is also a sign of water damage. im a verizon tech and my job fix these type of problems. this is in no way a scam. its a phone that got wet. period. if you spill water on your laptop its not Dell's problem.

  • @texman243 There was nothing wrong with the 3400, it was a work phone that had never been wet. The problem was with the software in the 8300 not allowing the phone to power up even though it could as shown in the video. Yes, the 3400 did power up as soon as I put in the battery from the 8300, but it at least turned on, unlike the 8300.

  • @texman243 Verizon is a sale out it was a good company but they comped out to frontier but i do think it is B.S tho nice cell phones

  • @texman243 well it would be dell's problem because they should of designed a laptop that wouldn't take water damage it a waste of the consumers money because they couldn't fix a minor problem with there tech for ex.. my cell phone has many openings where the company could of made the phone with plastic seals that pop into them and out so that water doesn't seep in there for i would never have a problem and a question to you my phone got so hot that it has a burn mark on it and wasn't charging

  • verizon is greedy and will try and squeeze every last penny out of its costumers so by lg implementing this into the phone makes verizon money and from what i have seen this is something that verizon spicificaly reqested in phone because lg could just say your phone or battery got wet your warranty is void but instead they try to get you to buy new phone or battery cell phones are never broken after exposed to water it is when corrosion starts that causes failure

  • @texman243

sorry but being a Verizon tech is far of from being a cell phone manufacturer. All cell phone manufacturers do this under the batteries and it is kind of a scam. The battery marker is pretty inaccurate. Most phones as far as I know have other water damage stickers actually inside the phone. Even if the battery sticker is pink/red, the others are usually white. It's pretty easy to deduce from that information that the battery sticker is either inaccurate or a scam.

  • @texman243 your and idiot it is a scam to make you buy a new battery. if you got something wet and it dried and all they components are still fine it should work. in this guys case his phone wasnt working all because of a sticker. if the components work then your phone should work a sticker. its all about money. they make phones that are not worth a crap. if they made phone that last forever they would go outta business

  • i have that prob to!!

  • Well, he starts out saying "okay everybody I'm gonna make this as quick as possible" *VIEWERS EYES THEN IMMEDIATELY GLANCE AT THE VIDEO'S LENGTH* lol

  • LG is a fucked up company.

  • @ 0:04 all viewers' eyes shift to the video's length time.

  • What do you mean? You make no sense.

  • @DeadStick62 You said "Quick as possible" so he assumed every viewer would look at the length time

  • Just buy a Droid or an iPhone 3GS!

  • the reason for this is because on newer phones that get the indicator wet it is like a circut breaker like in a house, it will cut out your battery so it does not shock the phone when you drop it in water. The 3400 you have does not have the feature

  • i dropped mine in the toilet once and it still works so i guess i got lucky

  • This just happened to me last night. I do believe its a scam alrightly because I was sitting doing nothing and the thing just went. Interesting my warranty has probably just run out. My phone was free because my old service provider was going away. They sent me here to get this "free" crummy phone. Finally, after cleaning the thing with alcohol and the moisture indicator light wouldn't go off, I stuck a tiny piece of tissue on top of the indicator and low and behold.. it works!

  • on second thought, ALL moisture indicators are a fucking SCAM, there is NO mention in the manual that that sticker indicates moisture damage, and that removal voids warranty, so I say REMOVE AWAY! Tell the phone carrier you were under the impression that it was cosmetic (a pretty pink sticker) and you didn't want that shit on your phone, unless they disclose "don't remove that thing" the burden of proof of "moisture damage" falls on them (with the sticker present) Those stickers are bunk.

  • ha ha ha. True. It never says "Don't remove sticker". I

  • The stickers on phones for moisture can be switched. Lg usualy keep the same design and smasungs do as well. Just steal a sticker from another phone and your good to go

  • forcing you to use a "genuine" battery is bullshit in the first place. Batteries are consumable, you should be able to use any manufacturer you choose. If the manual makes no mention of the "indicator" in the manual, then bring it back to verizon and make them replace the battery, if they resist because you "removed the moisture indicator" tell them you are a consumer, all you can do it read the manual which makes no mention of moisture indicators or how they function, so it's THEIR problem.

  • I have (and still have) the vx8300 phone for over 2 years now (2 years and 4 months exactly). Same original battery and phone, it still works wonders. Well, by battery does not hold a charge as good but that is expected for a 2+ year old phone. You prob just got a bad phone, it happens.

  • ughhh I need a way to fix this, it's driving me crazy!

I'm never buying another LG phone again. this is ridiculous.

  • tried that already, doesnt work

  • I am having the same damn problem. Thx for making your video and posting it.

  • Can i somehow make that baterry work? I dont care about warranty

  • thats fucked up, i had that too. it did the same thing. thats why i got rid of it and got me that LG Voyager but now i got the LG EnV3 and i love it

  • thanks you so much i was just about to send mine back to get another replacment cause i had the same problem thank you

  • this phone looks nice when u hav it but after a while itsa pain in the butt, i keep getting this white main screen all i see is nothing but white on the screen....duz anyone know how to fix this???

  • Good thing I still have my 5300 battery. I'll just switch it when the 8300 comes in the mail. Thanks for the warning.

  • I HAVE THIS PHONE. I WANT 2 GET A NEW 1! I COMPLETELY AGREE W/ U! this has neva happened 2 me, but i agree!

  • hah microsoft woops lg's ass in software scams

  • or they just put a battery in ur phone that wasn't supposed to be in it...it happens with any company, even the carrier brands do that

  • Thank you very much. I have an 8350 that died. Moisture did not show wet.

they returned it and talked down to me.. claiming corrosion. I paiud over 240.00 Maybe fifty calls on the phone.. doubt it.

A Sanyo purchased in 2002 is still working with the original battery. Beat up, dropped, lost and returned, etc. LG is a dirty company. Thye acted as if I were a stupid person. cjanged their story several times.

  • that phone is invincible. Seriously people now adays think about how the phone LOOKS. its so pathedic. I've been through it. I got a Motorola w385, and it's a piece of crap. It was soooooo slow to erase messages, and technically to do ANYTHING. so, this phone is great, and i think that touch screen phones S-U-C-K. fingers grub up the phone and it makes the phone look really crappy. Buy this phone, It's AWESOME!

  • i have this phone and it really is like chickenyfood said! Invincible! ive dropped it several times, dropped it in water, put it in the washer & dryer twice, left out in the sun with a mgnifying glass (112 degrees) for several hours!

  • THey should be SHOT! Someone tell the president

  • i dropped mine in the bath tub. it still works. all ya have to do is take out the battery when it gets wet and let it dry over night and it should work fine

  • same phone....i hate it. gah i can't wait until my contract is over; i've never exposed it to moisture yet it cuts off all the time

  • lgs fucking suck. period. i have gone through so many lg phones. its ridiculous.

  • That could be a precaution on the part of LG to keep from getting sued... if a battery is exposed to moisture it has the potential to leak acid, which could explain this.

  • Lithium polymer acid? There isn't any acid in those cells.

  • exactly u gotta remember "its all about money" like for example remember when windows microsoft officee came wit your computer now if u have vista u would need to buy microsft office seperate!!!

  • mine worked bad ass for along time then just started cutting off i took the battery out of my bro in laws when he upgraded to a different on and it works kick ass now i think there is something up with those

  • dammit fuck lg

  • Hey Yall- Just clean the contacts and remove the moisture indicator and replace with dry material. This isn't really a scam so much as it is a cost/safety precaution.

  • thats how i lost my first phone. i gotta new vx8300. both where vx8300

  • I have the same phone and and got it wet and picked up a new batt. and it still didn't work and I had to pick up a new phone but I got the same one with the extended life batt and it kicks ass

  • anybody here getting rid of one of these phones? if so send me a message and a price... i've never sen this happen to a phone before and me and three other people i know have this phone and we all have the water markers damaged but they all work fine.

  • i spilled carona extra on my phone and it is water damaged from it and works GREAT! hehe same phone LG VX8300

  • i think your just unlucky because iv been using the same phone for about a year now with no battery cover and iv had no problems with it at all.iv even ran this phone over with a car

  • It's not a scam. They have to draw the line somewhere. Whos to say that a "damp" battery might somehow release moisture slowly to the circuit board over time. Then you would be asking LG for a new phone on their dime. It's all loss-prevention to protect their business and keep the costs of your phone DOWN instead of up.

  • I agree... They are also preventing a potential lawsuit

  • that happened to me once cause i dropped it in mud and it just said car kit and it would not let me call out but i could text out and then like 3 months later it went regular again and i could use it

  • The isssue is probably when batteries get wet, their performance either halts, or it drains out very quickly...Does the old phone with the "wet" battery drain fast or is it normal?

  • dude ive had this phone for the past year...ive dropped it...ran it over...thrown it,,dropped it in water...and it still works...its tough as hell

  • mine dropped in the toilet but for one sec. and it works brand new

  • Thats strange. I had my dads phone like that and I accidentaly dropped it in a rain puddle and left the park. then i came back bout 5 min later and it was fine. dad never found out.

  • thats strange cause i used to have that phone.. i jut recently broke it but mine was REALLY bead up, it didnt even have a back on it and the battery and phone moisture dots were both really pink. almost red and it was the original battery and it work perfectly fine for the almost 2 years that i had it

  • Not exactly this phone... but the same thing happened to me.. and the worse thing is it was not exposed to moisture at all except the air... I got it about a day ago -_-"

  • So you can tell that this is a scam from just one battery / phone? Ever bought a box of 100 blank discs? You always get one thats faulty, right? How many of these phones do you think have been made?! You said it's only a couple of weeks old! It's under warranty! Get over yourself and get it replaced!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL, So you have done all the research you needed and found that my battery was just bad? Maybe you need to get over yourself and actually do a little research to see how common this problem is. You should also know that the first thing looked at when claming a warranty is the moisture indicator. If it has been exposed to moisture, the warranty is void. If you had any clue at all, you would know that.

  • @irish200731 it wouldn't be covered for water damage because it would void your warranty

  • @irish200731 Shut up you scum bag, If LG did not pay you to writ this comment you really need a life. I can believe L.G. is doing this. My friend who is an electronics engineers says that L.G. Monitors in India have Kill switch. They stop working after a said number of hours. I could believe it cause I knew a lot of cyber centers and an L.G monitor would not last more than 13 months. It would last 3 years at home. The L.O.T would simply fail. He knows of such methods where the instructions

  • Where the instructions can be written into any of th eeproms and they can be used to send electricty to a specific part and short-circuit it.

ofcourse LG lost is popularity back then In monitors as people just thought that LG had a life of 13 months if used for 10 hours a day. Which is 1 month after the warranty period. After that I have never purchased an LG product in My life. Do not know if they still do such things with their products

  • interesting conclusion; a scam. so you understand exactly what happens, chemically, when sensitive electronic equipment like a cellular phone or a lithium ion battery gets "damp." the fact that your wet battery works in a different phone is interesting. i would be happy to get any use out of it at all.

  • my phone got a little wet doin the same thing as yours but mine said car kit and i can not call out on it or any thing and no sounds or any thing it a pice of crap

  • my phone wont even turn on with the vx 8300 battery or the vx3200 help

  • lol, I have the same "use genuine battery" message bull $hit on my VX8300. I think I will try my sister's battery of the same phone on mine. I hate how some technology developers these days try to scam the consumer. -cries- lol

  • just put a piece of clear tape over the indicator

  • My wifes phone went throught the wash and has the same battery as the one you are showing in the video. As a matter of fact I have the 8300 and my wife has the other phone you are showing. I let it dry and then charged the battery and it has been working fine for months.

  • you are going to ruin your phones. that battrie has lithium in it, it is a alkali metal when water comes in contact with it explodes, they are just trying to protect your phone.

PS. dont buy the battries from verizon get them from battires plus.

  • it happened to me on my lg vx 8100 and i had to buy a new battery and tried in my friend phone worked just fine after i bought a new battery i was pissed

  • I had an original lg chocolate and the same thing happened to me. I don't really like lg. I bought a pantech c150 and walked right though a rain storm, forgetting I had my phone in my pocket I tripped because the moisture indicator was completley red, but the phone itself was completley fine. LG may have cool looking phones but their really turds.

  • i have the LG VX8300 and this has not happen to me and i have talked on the phone in the rain i am sorry it happen to u but that is crap

  • this is the biggest scam since social security got put on us. I got a nokia wet and it's all fawked up dealer gave me a new battery but it got the same deal sweat from my pores thru my pants fawked it What a freaking racket. I know this is a federal crime. Lets' just see how long they gits away wit it.

  • are. you. f*****. kidding me... i got my phone a little wet and i havent been able to power it on for like 3 months now, and when i tried my sisters old battery (which i just realized was a little red) it didnt work, so i have had one of my old parents even crappier phones........... me and lg have a love hate relationship going on now

  • lol i feel ur pain

  • 2 years my vx8300 verizon still rocks!

Just got the G ZONE BOULDER and the sound sucks!

  • same here psyche. but mine sucks. im tired of it and its out of date. im getting an env2

  • ive had that phone for like 2 years and nothing like that happened to me

  • if ppl say that the moisture thing is mest up then i must of got a special one cuz i went on a water ride with it in my pocket accedentaly and it still worked fine, then my dog chewed and slobered on it, the battary was messed up but it got better after a while it got better, idk wat happened 2 urs but mine worked good

  • i hate my lgvx8300 verizon is a scam they are totally gay!

  • How they got us was we TOLD them straight up WE DO NOT WANT ANY EXTRAS JUST A MONTHLY PLAN!!! so what do they do? just after a couple weeks of having there monthly plan...they tacked on a ton of shit, and refused to send a bill stating exactly what and why the bill is so damned high! $1,500!!!! when the bill is supposed to be $75......WHAT THE FUCK! I'm not paying this shit. SCREW VERSION! the LG phon itself is awesome we got one with out this battery scam:)

  • that happened to me once when i was snowboarding but i got a new one(same phone) the next day for free and it never happened again

  • thats what happened to my phone to

  • you realize that verizon doesnt always go by the moisture indicaters right. they also look for corrosion on the charging port and micro sd card slot. just like many people have issues with phones going into car kit. that is a tell tale sign of mosture or damage to the charging port. theres a reason they sell cases. keeping a phone in your pocket will cause moisture build up. the contacts under the indicater on the battery are there to protect your phone and yourself.

  • it happened to me too, but my phone never had any moister exposure. I went into a verizon store, all fired up and ready to rumble, told them flat out when I handed them the phone don't even tell me I got it wet, cause I know for a fact it has never got wet, told them flat out I know their line of BS and they gave me another phone.

  • I'm a software engineer. Not all features work perfectly in the real world. Looks like they're trying to avoid a water short induced battery heatup causing a fire. Once it trips, it may no reset properly. Cutting the moisture senor out doesn't make the battery happy that you're safe. Get in touch with LG and tell them they have a problem and point them to this list to show that others have problems, too. Give them a chance to make it right and if they don't then raise hell.

  • Swalt, The Moisture indicator I removed was nothing more than a piece of adhesive backed litmus paper.

  • Were there electrical contacts above or below it? Might it be replaceable? That would be nice.

  • On the Battery, there were some sort of contacts under the moisture indicater paper. But on the phone, there is nothing. The Litmus paper just sits on a piece of plastic.

  • my phone did the same thing, and i went in and they told me i was going to have to buy a new phone or get a battery. and i dont even have any damage or moisture damage in my phone. its a scam and i dont like this phone

  • man this phone sucks alot it the same thing happened to 54 of my friends, and also my sis. she had left it next to the window while it was very cold out side and it stoppted working. i think my sister is gonna sue them for like $85,000. she said shell give me like 20 grand. anyways i think that lg fuc$&%$# sucks!!!

  • my phone did the same thing at camp the moister in the shut it off and did the same thing. A month later i tried turning it on and it worked. recently turned it off to go to bed and when i turned it on in the mori=ning it said use genuine battery and it also has to do with the heat and humidity because the second time it was not exposed to water at all!

  • I believe it's a scam with Verizon, not just LG. But it is a scam.

You can scam them as well by cancelling your contract without ANY cancellation fees if they increase any fees, no matter how little they are. It may still be possible to do so. Check your last bill, and see if there are any increases, then print and highlight a copy of your contract that proves they are legally obligated to cancel without fee.

  • I've owned one of these phones for almost two years now, and fortunately this hasn't happened to me yet - but I am well aware of Verizon's shady business practices when it comes to batteries, and cell phone accessories in general. 3G iPhone, here I come.

  • That is so weird

  • I actually dropped my phone into my aquarium and got it out after about 5 seconds, all i did was take out the battery and let it dry overnight, my vx8300 works fine. I doubt that is a software problem though, maybe you got a bad phone.

  • I washed mine in the washing machine in my pants pocket and when I pulled it out, I had it drying all apart for like 3 days and it still wouldn't work!

  • Hmmmm...Yerr Right, Better not get LG 8300. Lol I still Want It. Tee-Hee

  • when moisture enters between the connections from the battery to the phone, it shorts out a, lack of better term, ground breaker on the battery to protect the phone from being shorted out. The battery kind of takes a bullet for the phone. that's why this happens :D

  • maybe...just maybe.....its a fail safe....in order for the phone not to work the indicators on both the phone AND the battery must be tainted in order not to work....but if only one indicator is messed up it should be fine you should apply moister to you new battery and put it in there, im 99% sure if you damage the indicator on the new battery and place it once again in the phone w/the bad indicator then it wont work..........try it and tell that im wrong ^_^

  • what happens if you take off the sticker does it work

  • no it doesnt work

  • my phone is the same and i dropped it in a pond and left it in a washing machine, and it works fine after drying it thoroughly

  • My friend had the exact thing happen to hers. The phone would no longer turn on. Two new batteries for the phone. Just a waste of money I tell you, both were defective. This was the lg 5300. And it still worked on her seperate 3400 that she uses for her business as well.

  • good point i never knew that

  • so it still got wet

  • I dropped my vx8300 into a sink full of water accidentally. I then put it in bubble wrap and tossed it in the drier for 30min after it kept saying some error "Car kit". After 30min in the drier it boots up perfectly fine. This is the best phone I've ever heard of. I love using the bluetooth to transfer photos it's better then any digital camera.

  • LG in general sucks cool phones but way too many software problems on most of their phones!! Buy a Motorola or a Blackberry next time much better track record over all!!

  • that is a scam, you should see about starting a class action lawsuit, lawyers would love to get a piece of this

  • my chocolate by LG is doing this to.. like i turned it on and it didnt work it said use genuine battery... then i kept trying and it worked and now its not working again

  • howd u get ur black? mins gray...

  • heelp me my lg vx 8300 is locked and i dont know the codde wat can i do?

  • its the last four numbers of your number

  • just go to a VERIZON store

  • its the last 4 digts of your phone number

  • I don't think its a scam. I think its a firmware issue more then anything. Ive had my Vx8300 for almost a year now I believe, and ive dropped it before, but it still works perfectly. Something is wrong with the phone itself, like I said, firmware or something

  • Then why don't you just switch the batteries

  • i have da same fone vx8300

  • hockeyhand, I am sorry you are experiencing the "use genuine battery" problem. I was fortunate enough to get mine working with a different battery. I really do not know what to tell you. If the moisture indicator is not activated, you should be able to get a new phone.

  • yal100, well this is not a public forum, it is my forum. If your phone works fine, why are you here? This is for hundreds of other people who DO have this problem whether your naive, everything in this world is perfect, little mind can comprehend it or not. So now I say you do not exist, Poof! Enjoy your phone.

  • ok today i locked my phone then turned it back on and it says "use genuin battery" nowi have to batterys one was a back up and they both dont work and i used my freinds who had the same phone and it still says "use genuin battery" please help me!

  • LOL, yeah I made all this up and did a video for youtube so I could be famous! A google search will reveal many people with the "use genuine battery" problem. Try thinking before you stick your foot in your mouth. Just to add, my camera stopped working on the phone now. Verizon and LG refuse to give me a new phone because the stupid little piece of paper they call a water indicator has shown the phone got wet. I am happy for you that you phone survived the washer. But, don't call me a liar.

  • thank you cuz i am getting this phone on ebay

  • I have never heard of this issue. I know my 8300 took a pounding and was very durable. I have dropped it countless times and even accidentally submerged it in the bathtub once and once it dried out it was fully functional.

  • The 8300 has been replaced by the 8350.

  • my brother droped his phone thats just like that into a lake and it suprisingly still works perfect

  • i own lg phones (vx9800) and current vx9900 orange .. i like em had no problems but in ur case it was a scamming scam

  • damn I wwanted this phone =/ but now I dont know =/>it looks like a very nice phone? should I still get it??

  • I think I have a solution to your problem. Here is what I know. This sensor has power that runs threw it. If the moisture indicator is activated then it either 1. won't let any power threw or 2. shorts out. Once you can identify that it should be no problem figuring out how to fix this. You should be able to take a new sensor out of the battery and hook it up to an ohm meeter. See how much resistance it has and put a resistor in it's place. This will solve your problem.

  • That's weird. I never thought LG would suck so badly on some of their phones but apparently so. Maybe you just got a dud who knows. Sorry to hear about your phone:(

  • LISTEN, WHEn YOU GET A BATTERY COVER THE SENSOR WITH A LIGHT COAT OF CLEAR NAIL POLISH BUT DONT GET ANY ON THE METAL CONTACTS, THIS WILL FIX ALL

  • i just watched the video and i am pretty shocked 2 see everyone that had this problem. i have had my lg 8300 a year and a half now, about 2 update my new every 2.i have never had that problem before and i have never had any problem of any kind with my phone.i been pretty satisfied with it.i always have it in my pocket even in the rain. i guess i got lucky...

  • The same thing happened with my older VX6000... a phone I've had for years...

  • yeah i had a similar problem and i tried to resolve it through the carrier and they told me that i would have to buy a refurbished phone because the moisture idicator showed that it had become wet! i said wet how could it have gotten wet when it never seen any water period so they said the waranty was void so when i got the phone home i took it aprart and blew any dust what not off og the mother board and put it back together and has been workin fine ever since

  • i have this phone and if something like that happens to i am going to verizon and tell them what u said and show it how the battery works in another phone not mine.

  • oh wow... that is sooooo crazy. That is a bunch a crap them "forcing" us to by a new battery when in fact nothing is wrong with it in the first place. wow thanks for that video =)

  • My 8300 gave the same message, even with a new battery(from another 8300). I think there is software in the actual phone that responds to the moisture indicator on the phone.

  • What?!!??! We're surprised a cell phone company is sticking it to us?

fuck'em THANKS for posting. Just got the LG VX8300.

  • this is why i want to kill everyone.

  • i have that phone and i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thank you very much. i had the same problem happen to me just this night. now i know how to solve it.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. This is why I love the internet. I'm had exactly the same problem happen with my 8300. There was a little bit of moisture, but hardly any. We're experimenting with it to see if we can figure out how it's knowing to discriminate against the battery. I'll let you know what I find.

  • Thank You for commenting. I am very glad the word is getting out. I hope you get your phone working.

  • yeah that does suck. that is really weird. It wont power up or anything on your phone but when you switch batteries it works.....that's really weird. Thanks i'll know not to ever get that phone haha.

  • seriously your my hero right now

i had the same problem my pocket was damp

and i put my phone in and the indicator thingy

    thankyou it worked greatly!

  • how much are new batteries?

I just bought the phone and so far after a few days, I've had no problems.

  • New batteries range anywhere from $12 to $50. I bought a $12 one I found online at a reputable store and the phone has worked fine ever since. It's funny too, the new battery seems to hold a charge better than the original even though the new one is only 900ma!

  • dudw thax's so much for giving me this info i'm about to get this phone and now i know if anything happens i'll take the battery out of my old LG and put it n the new one...

  • how come not many other people have complained about this? Just about every forum I went to didn't complain about this.

  • That is why I posted this here. I could only find 2 other instances of this happening. One of my major concerns is that the stupid little paper moisture sensors are far too easy to activate. Once these are activated, all warranties are null and void. As in my case where the phone was only a week old!

It just makes no sense with the tests I showed in the video for the phone to be completely disabled when bothe the battery and phone are fine.

  • that is very interesting!

thanks for posting the video and telling everyone smart enough to watch that video what a scam those moisture indicators are!!

  • DeadStick I had the same problem with my VX8300 except that my phone did not get wet at all, instead mines vibrated off a step in my house. This caused it to shut off and when I tried to turn it on I seen this message except mines counted down from 10 to 1 and shutoff again. Also other LG batteries didnt work but the battery did work in my VX6100. I got the phone replaced for free at the verizon store so I was good.

  • I also called up verizon wireless and the person on the phone said that this was a defect with the phone not the batteries and that you should get the phone replaced for free and thats what I did. I also had my LG VX8300 for 8 months without a warranty so I was pleased to get another phone for free.

  • Wow, that is intersting. Did you have both moisture indicators activated? I have called Verizon and they said they will not replace it. Maybe I should go to a local store and see what they say. Thanks for the info.

  • Nope both of the indicators were not activated, I think thats the only reason I got a new phone because I do remember seeing the representative looking at both indicators. I think that I must of knocked something loose when the phone fell all those 3 inches that it fell off the step. But verizon did say that alot of there VX8300 were doing that but I dont know what would happen since your indicators are activated it seems?

  • I'm sold, that's good to know since everyone of my friends has that phone.

  • Thank you very much for the comments. I am only hoping to get the word out. There has to be others out there. If I can find them, we have a better chance at getting something done. LG/Verizon will not even consider helping me since the moisture indicators are activated, even though I am paying for the best warranty verizon offers.

  • I have this phone and a new battery but I haven't had this problem before! I don't know what to say. But the fact that you were able to power it up on your older phone, that was a good shot at saying the 8300 is a model that was made for the sole purpose of buying new LG batteries. But like I said, I don't think many people have encountered this! Good luck with whatever you decide to do about it!

  • dude that sucks that is so gay call up LG or verizon and

talk about switching to motorola or at&t then see if they'll do anything
