Awesome.. Take away the music and you have poetry that everyone can understand. So few songs these days speak an ultimate truth like this one. Those who hate it have lived it. Those who like it havent..
I showed this song to my son, and he looked at me and said, mom why dont they go to familys that really want them?...Then he turned and said mom can we bring kids here?.....My answer ALWAYS......I can help some kids to a better life, i just hope some day i will get the chance...:)......ALL KIDS ARE WORTH IT:)....NO ONE HAD A CHILD AND SAID THIS IS A THROW AWAY.....NOT FOR ME:)
i love this song.... damn, first time i heard this i was like, eight. Im 16 now, and now i know the title, artist, and whose ipod it is on... HAHAHAHA mine
it's sick how adults use reproducing to "save" themselves and/or their relationship ~ and when it don't work out, it's the child(ren) who suffer 4 it and in the end there's more fights about who's paying what and who takes them when ~ or worse yet they kick the child to the curb and move on in their own lives, I can relate to this video because it happened to me.
Great song.... the video gives me the creeps... I cant tell if he is a dude, well obviously in the singing part. But the kid part he looks like a she. And whats with the random black kid?
i dont thinks its the music that people can really relate to in everclear, but more the mood that you had when it came out, so to some songs like this are not heard because they are like personal time capsules taking us back to the 1990s some it was good, some it was bad.
This song gives me so much good out of so much bad. Thanks Everclear.
It's about childright. There is NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT than to FULLFILL THE RIGHTS OF EACH AND EVERY CHILD. All us grown ups have to take the responsibility for it and make it happen every day, we're not worthy life if we don't. Every sate and country - goes for you too, even more!!!
why do people give me thumbs down cause this song reminds me of my deceased friend? FUCK ALL OF YOU MOTHERFUCKERS!!!! I HOPE YOU DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@lowell191 Not trying to be a dick, but you've posted multiple comments about your friend, and to some it may seem like you are doing it for attention, which may explain your thumbs-down.
i fuking love this song! promises mean everything when your little and the world is so big i just don't understand how you smile with all those tears in your eyes when you tell me is everthing wonderful now io don't hear you tell me everything wonderful now!
The only reason why you find their lyrics cheesy is because you are cheesy....but if you know where they're really coming, then it's not, instead it hurts, because it's true. Escape, runaway, dismiss.....

if you analyze this video in the first 10 -20 seconds the guy winks to a little girl across the street and they r just hanging out in the front yard while another kid comes up. then they're all looking at the little girl eat with her family and somehow are chillin with the little boy like at 2 am in the boys room.....................................clearly child molesters
Thanks Negative Nancy, but maybe he doesn't have to spill his whole life to us? Maybe this song is enough to change people without having to cut too deep? Maybe he can help people without hurting him? Or maybe not? Who cares, just watch the video.
I love this song. This song is reason enough why I would never leave my family. You always hear about the parent's side, but what about the child? He/She is the one thats going to be affected the most. I think this song gives a GREAT look into what a child thinks about when his/her mommie and daddy split up.
This song is so sad sometimes when you hear it without watching the video. The video seems to give it a lighter side, which I'm not saying is bad. It just really effect the mood you get from this song. Oh yeah, I give it 4.9/5
I love this song, when my mom first showed it to me i would stay up real late and beg her to play it. and when she did i'd dance around just if i were in the band. god i miss my mom so muc.<3 love you!
What the fuck? Emo existed before this... bands like Rites of Spring and Embrace, and then Sunny Day Real Estate and Mineral. Emo kids today have no idea where emo came from or what it once was, but you clearly have no idea, either.
yeah but, then they couldnt do the ending part with all the kids jumping together. If they had done just one kid they couldnt really have done the whole happy we all can share our problems thing at the end.
actually it is.... i mean there are ups and downs but would you rather have your parents divorced or have them go to hhotels, fight all the time, and hate each other? but when my parents got a divorce they became friends
i love this song, However I do not like Art's Polical views. Good thing this is a Free country & you can vote & say what you want (well until THE PATRIOT ACTS GETS YOU)
Check it out though, that is divorce, thus, it's about a form of divorce. Maybe they didn't actually file a regular divorce, but either way, that's what it comes down to. And either way, you missed the "personal interpretation" part of my previous statement. It's about whatever the listener wants it to be about.
RacoolRacoon you're an idiot. Art wrote it about divorce, but music is all about personal interpretation. So it is about rape and it is about beating and it is about being poor and starving. Don't try to act like you know.
This isn't about divorce, this is about his life experience. His father left their family when he was a kid. Just like father of mine, he's singing about himself
wtf im not feelin sorry for shit thats probably what your trying to pull but i mean damn i know what you mean though im living in a family violence center and you dont see me bitchen about anything. great song though!
My stepdad would beat all of us and rape me while my mom was at work. When my littlest brother came along though, I started to stand up to him so he moved on to my cousin who was a run away.
I remember listening to the mix CD she gave me while I took care of my brother. When I heard this song, I broke down in tears. I had just turned 13 then and I felt as if life would never get better. Through those times, this song gave me the strength to keep on living and the hope things would get better.
Please don't be sorry. The past is the past, I was just telling my connection and how this song helped me.
To my surprise, life did get better. My stepdad was sentenced to 15 years in prison for an honest mistake (he thought another girl was 18) and his getting arrested gave me the sense of security long enough for me to testify too. What do you know, a grown man who terrorized me was afraid of a 13 year old little girl. He took a plea for 30 more years with my testimony!
yea my parents split when i was 2 and my mom took me to my grams and we lived there then a few days or weeks later she left us later my dad went t jail for drugs he went to jail a couple times im eleven now we never hear from my mom or see her shes lucky to cuz if anyone saw her she would be bitch slapped so many times y dad is now out of jail and has a little girl so i have a little sister my dad is off drugs but im still goin through childhod hell
oh my God. im so sorry. i wish that i could tell you that the anger goes away and that it gets better...my life sucked growing up and my parents and family...were abusive and drug addicted...all i can say is that it does not get better until you move out on your own...and talk to the family that does care for you the proper way....but teenage years...those are going to be the angriest yet....this song got me through mine...and it will be ok someday. i promise.
This song is a perfect example of my life when I was 7 years old. My parents divorced when I was 7 and life has sucked since then. All you parents out there..... do everything you can to get along. My life was ruined when my parents split up. I would have done anything to get them back togather. My mom kept telling me that everything was better now that they were divorced. It might seem that way to the parents but for your kids it's horrible.
There were good times in childhood? My parents split when I was four, and my life sucked back then, but it's a hell of alot better now, so think about it this way, quoting Harold And Kumar, "The universe tends to unfold as it should."
