im just saying these bands will never break into the mainstream. and still being around today touring everywhere makes them seem pretty damn desperate, imho.
But they don't want to break in to the mainstream. They just want to be out playing music. As for it seeming to be desperate, I think you are totally wrong. This band and loads of others are still making new music and people are still buying it. I think we should applaud them rather than shoot them down.
first of all, the bands you mentioned where great at some point in time. i'm a fan of the music myself. i dislike rancid and greenday but honestly they've had more commercial success then any of the bands you mentioned will ever have. then again, they never really did start off as lower class hard working people like most street punk bands

maybe i didnt make myself clear... i meant the band should die, as in not play anymore. not exist anymore. if beki and her bandmates want to literally die with the band... then more power to them. hahaha jk about the last part...
why are they still around touring and shit... these bands should die and not continue on... they just get worse and worse trying to revive this whole scene. ie the adicts, discharge...
gabegabegabe has the I.Q of a dead fish.....why ??
Well, this gabegabegabe person has XRay Spex, Pixies, Adicts and Radiohead on their playlist...these bands are still touring and entertaining people after many years....BUT according to gabegabegabe these people should die.!?! Instead of wanting politicians, cheating bankers and government liars to die this person targets hard working musicians struggling to make ends meet...dohh.....gabegabegabe you truly are a fucking moron..
@SpitfirePunx i think gabegabe has a point - they aren't doing anything new, so in effect they've become pardoies of their 1977 selves. they're no different from bob dylan still touring. neither act is contributing anything anyore because their relevance was only temporally defined by being a part of the class of 1977. having said that they're a great act obviously, but people should be investing energy in newer stuff than reliving this 1970s nostalgia.
@10ccalanarkush - in response to your thoughts - are you trying to wind me up mate ? Or is your post a rhetorical response ?? Of course Vice Squad are doing new things... the band have made more albums from 1999 onwards than the original band and have eclipsed the 'old' material ten-fold. The last 2 albums have received amazing reviews and have been dubbed as fresh and exciting.. Either your post is designed to court controversy or you simply didn't take 5 minutes to do some research - cheers x

Its like saying every male fronted punkrock band rips off the clash.
mortonhill you are totally wrong. Blondie didnt sing about animal rights, football violence, injustice and exploitation of the poor. Beki wrote great lyrics that are still relevant today !! Vice Squad were more influenced by Siouxsie Sioux, crass, motorhead and the clash and did all this aged 15 whilst a 22 year old Debbie Harry sang about rap,pop music and telephone calls.
She lost her way back then - so did Exploited,Discharge,Anti Nowhere League and Cockney Rejects to name a few. Poxy Heavy metal lured them all away...THANK GOD BEKI IS BACK fronting the best version of Vice Squad now made it worth the wait.

Agreed. I like some of the new Vice Squad stuff, but will always prefer the early version of the band. Hell, I even like 'Shot Away' even though Lia sounds too slick(but good nonetheless), and it's kinda rock-ish. They wrote great songs, and Beki's vocals made them sound even better. They may not have the following they used to have, which is to be expected, but they have a lot of fans out there still, both old and new.

ok ok maybe its the stress of me not having been to a gig in nearly 2 weeks but the last time i saw vice squad i thought they were very "metal" which didnt seem like them and which was why i thought they were shit, dont get me wrong im a big metal fan but it has to be a "metal" band . im a huge huge uk subs fan but ive seen a few dodgy gigs by them also, well the slaggings go on.!! haha

like most of the punk bands in that time they changed courses. some went back to the punk rock music some didn't. like, charged GBH, the exploited, discharge and vice squad and many others all went from punk to a different sound some went back though, like GBH.

I don't know what that gabe's problem is, but I doubt that any of the bands he can name are of anywhere in being decent.
Vice Squad rocks! And Green Day can't even compare, they're just some boring "pseudo-punk" band who tries too hard to be like The Clash.
I'm sticking with 60s psychedelic and garage rock and 70s/80s punk. I'm honestly sick of today's music scene anyway, no one is trying to be different.
