@dinmamma3234 Well genetics show that the Shetlanders are 65% Scottish Pict descended and only around 35% Viking descended, and Shetland is geographically closer to Scotland than it is to Norway.

The reason that they have around 35% Viking descents there is because the Vikings robbed the land from the native Scottish Picts who inhabited the land, and it was owned by Norway for a while but Scotland did gain the land back.

Please don't think i've anything against the Norwegians or any of the Scandinavian countries. I don't. I've been to Norway twice, Sweden 4 times and about to go to Finland for the first time.

My GF is Swedish.

The vikings took the islands by force from the Picts who united with the gaels to form Alba or scotland.
