  • Outstanding job

  • glad to see this is still up, i remember the debate on teh forums, and how quickly you shit that guy up haha.. this is real machining, fabricating, and engine building. Years later still Great vid

  • Props

  • I need specs please

  • 3 KA24DE heads? God-damn... o.o

  • is it 600 hp too?

  • @JedNaranjo hahahahaha... nah this one is 700!

  • Oh my goodness, monster!

  • Its obviously his project and a unique one. Why does everyone always toss "wouldn't it be cheaper...." into every argument. Who the hell wants the same old setup that everyone runs when you can run something more unique.

  • @UrLame889 i think those are the stock rb26dett turbos so IDK what your talking about. thats a normal size fo a twin turbo straight 6

  • Sounds like a fucking scooter.

  • would a rb26 stroked to 2.8L not have been cheaper and more efficient??

  • @portland1987 Cheaper, Maybe. More efficient, debatable. More balanced, absolutely not. An RB adds nearly 200 more pounds to the overall weight of the car.

  • love these things but they just are'nt sutable for an everyday car anymore :(

  • whats up friend, i was wandering where you bought the head from and for how much? could you send some infos please. abraham.sarkees@yahoo.com

  • LOL you can make a KA do anything. Right on

  • Now that is SICK.

  • i really want know how you do the job with the cams, custom cams or?

haha dont tell me you cut 6 cams to make 2 new

    awesome work

  • probably less expensive to go with a rb series motor and more power.... coool idea tho

  • Seriously dude? Slapping and splicing a few KA heads onto the good old L28? AWESOME work. Wish I had your ingenuity, and that setup. I hate having my exhaust and intake on the same side. You've found a great alternative to those ridiculous expensive OS heads

  • could be an "O.Z" head.....extremely rare conversion offered in Japan through the aftermarket.

  • good car, i like to see people trying things themselves

  • are these cars any good at drifting???

  • @maluchman1 These cars are useless for drifting. Short narrow wheel base flexy chassis no power steering and no LSD. Where these cars shine is on Motor cross or rally race tracks

  • @thebluemaggot quarter mile also

  • @fixitluis In truth any car can shine on the quarter mile. All that matters is how deep your pockets are

  • @thebluemaggot the smartest most unignorant comment ive ever heard on youtube. bless you for being a person with intelligence

  • @fixitluis =D

  • that guy is a dumbass, this motor will push 4-450 wrhp- the stock l29 non turbo only pushes like 180-190, and the turbo version only pushes 20-40 more than a stock one- waste of time i think not, a 30% hp increase is far from marginal. furthermore i cant think of anyone else that has pulled of a stroked l28 with dohc tt, can anyone else lol?

  • Just go turbo man. shit.fuck all the dumb shit.

  • @touros69 a waste of time muscle head.

some people dont know hard work when they see it. good job. its nice to see originality and your own custom work no matter what type of car it is.

  • I wouldnt mind having that head on my '77 280Z. L28s are pretty bad ass. I'd rather do this than drop an RB or a Chevy 350.

  • OS-Giken made DOHC heads, right?

  • Correct, years ago.. was called TC24. it was limited and was way to costly. personally i would not mold 3 heads together or 2 even just for 10 hp. But hey these guys did it, and Im glad it worked for them.

  • This l28dohc was the platform for the rb series engine to come bub.why would you waste so much time molding three heads together hoping youl get it right the first time for only 10-15 extra horses not to productive if you ask any true z owner.

  • Being a Zed owner is not about being productive...

  • @touros69 RB's also weigh alot more.

  • Yeah, because 4 valve/cylinder DOHC technology is a joke right? Why would anyone waste their time with that voodoo...

  • Nissan actually manufactured this dohc l28 searies but in limited numbers morons

  • Haha you're lost here...

  • devil z?

  • any vids of this car driving by or sumthing?

  • holy jesus

  • someone got balls... hella project... where did ya get the cams?

  • Its a whole engine swap, look at the turbos , its called modification and upgrade tard.

  • No, it is not a "whole engine swap". He got two four cylinder heads from another engine, split them apart, machined them and made a DOHC head for the original SOHC engine.

  • how does that work? 3 heads does it bolt right up or is there ike a mounting plate?

  • cut 3 head... back plate and 2 cylinders, central 2 cylinders and front 2 cylinders... and weld on together =P

  • holy shit

  • what size turbo's are you running and that is def a hybrid head how did you even do that?

  • wow some 1 has been watching a lot of wangan midnight to actually build a twin turbo L28

  • hell yeah, i plan on doing the same thing once i save enough money for my uncles 240z

  • thats cool no 1 said it couldnt be down lol

  • lol

  • @djelofsocal For that, it's supposed to be a 12 valve head, not 24. Personally i like the 12 valve heads more because the sound they make with triple carbs is unbelievable. :D

  • @kimgulle its must sounds like music

  • @kimgulle you are very right!!!

  • @djelofsocal i biult an exact egine with 600 hp but just need a 240z frame

  • @djelofsocal thats the only way to go or else it feels and sounds different.

  • wow.

I have never seen anyone do such a radical head conversion.

  • Tuuurbo Laaaaag!! still awsome tho

  • WTH are you talking about? You think turbos cause lag while rev'ing in neutral? It's a frankenstein build starting for the first time.

  • Comment removed

  • woah.. didn't mean it like that. on a road, at mid to low revs, there will be some turbo lag. loook at the turbo's, they're as big as the headlamps.

  • Actually those are pretty small turbos. Look at the inlets.

  • Search his other threads; I believe he has bigger ones on it now.

  • ohh.. good point.. i drive a diesel(rev limiter at 4700), so the turbo is waaaayyy smaller

  • those are really small turbos mate

  • but hes got TWO!!!11!

  • Yea buuuuut they will spool very quick, they are only running on 3 cyl each so they need to be small unless you want them spooling at 6000rpm like idiots with supras do. It's not always using the biggest turbo, its using the best size for your engine that yields best performance overall

  • damn that probably pack some big horse power

  • My hat's off to you . I have had four old z cars and could only dream of doing what you have done.

  • amazing. i would kill for those kind of metal skills

  • its done by a company called os giken they make the headers and valcover too

  • This conversion isn't... TC24 Heads are impossibly hard to find and really don't gain that much. This head is custom, via three separate KA24DE heads welded/pinned/bolted together...

  • WOW, you crazy son of a bitch! I fuckin WISH I had your fabrication skills!

BIG Kudos on the build!!!!! AWESOME motor! Have you thought about making these motors for a living? I would sure as hell buy one!

  • Like OS giken, a DOHC L28, Awesome. Now stroke to 3.1!

  • my hat really goes off to you there champ! twin turbo dohc L28.. you're crazy ;)

  • quit dickin arounddd

  • you sound like my ag teacher

  • you sound like my ag teacher

  • yeahhhhh son

  • You cut and paste 3 heads together??? Awesome!! you should be selling this heads.

  • O.S ginken use to make a DOHC head

  • It's FI too that's insane. Very impressive.

  • i'm thinkin one hell of a patent and a small production to make this thing i could build this head with a very indepth print and 3d visual (machinist me) out of aluminum i think you could sell the hell out of this head dude let me know if your interested

  • lol, to the earlier comments, HE MADE the head from 3 KA24DE heads, the sections are doweled and clamped together... amazing engineering... your pockets would have to go REALLY deep to make him even CONSIDER making another... he said it would cost about 5x what a RB motorset would cost (dont know if he was refering to a RB30?, im from the S-chassis crowd, and the only RB's im familiar with are the R32-34 RB20/25/26)

  • thats bad ass. who made the head?

  • sounds like a better alternative to a 2jz swap to me. who makes that head and how deep in my pockets do i have to dig to get one.

  • now thats a nice set of wheeles u av urself ther

  • holy shit that is bad ass

  • Glad to see it finally run man. Been a long time in the making but dang, I just don't think it gets any cooler than that.

  • This is genius, keep us posted!

  • Bettern' a Gooberfest 15 Second Stock Rebuild eh?

Some do, some 'think' they do, and others simply don't have an f-ing clue! And you ain't one of the last two!!!
