ive said before. If R.L was still alive, and if i met him, the first thing i would do would be neal down at his feet and beg for the honor of speaking with him...
rl was rediscovered by a man named john nerumberg in the 70s...john was instrumental in getting rl back in the scene and was his harp player for quite some time
rl was a personal friend and frequent house guest...we jammed...told stories...drank whiskey straight from the bottle (always by his feet) was great man and musician !! love you rl
@honeyb722 can i email you sometime and pick your brain? i'm currently working on a piece regarding burnside's music and i would love to interview and cite you, if at all possible. thank you!!
@honeyb722 How fortunate you are to have known him. I met him once at a blues fest and he was a super nice person. I also met his son DuWayne, equally as cordial. In fact we drank beers and talked for a good hour after a North Miss. concert in Lancaster,pa.
look whatever you're doing.. stop.. listen.. feel.. ya' feel that chill up your spine.. that's the power of blues
and don't anybody say some stupid shit about "they don't make music like this anymore" ... R.L. was active until he passed in 2005 there was only ever one R.L. Burnside .. R.I.P
No, the two dislikes don't know shit, cause evidently they been eating it while listening to music that ain't music........peace to all the "likes". Sarge.
was a big rap fan but after a few downers in my life i started listening to rl burnside nd other blues musicians wat im gettin at is blues helped me its wat kept me from offing my self now i listen to blues a whole lot! i still listen to hip hop tho. but thank you ray charles rl burnside and robert johnson god rest your souls you really helped me in life thank you R.I.P.
@kanye3215 Blues has kept me alive too. It really helps me to hear someone singing the pain I'm feeling. Have you listened to Mississippi Fred McDowell ? ( The guy who RL learnt guitar from.) There is a very powerful tune by him called Someday Baby which stopped me crying when I was totally fucked. If you go to my channel it's the first track on playlist Hill Country Gets Loud. Highly recommended. I hope you're feeling better now. Take care, Kassy.
@MrSixstringjohnny This is not the take with Jon Spencer. Same song but what you are thinking of is from the album Ass pocket of whiskey. That is a screaming caotic energyfull record. My favorit all times.
this week i must've listened to this song a million times in the car. those guitar lines give me goose pimples all over & rl's voice is just brilliant, something else man something else!
someone who knows this music would you talk about this version of theis song? I can;t believe what I;m hearing, it;s primal earthy, god's heart beat.I'm flat freakin' in awe
The definition of rock n roll. If he were still alive I'd love to buy RL a drink. Absolutely Amazing!
