@pilotdave1000 Why not AHII? partly because I still suck at AHII. Partly because our squad is down to about 5 or 6 members in AHII and that makes it quite difficult to make good vids
The Flying Tigers (AVG 飛虎隊) used Kuomintang (KMT 中國國民黨) 'Blue Sky with a White Sun' (青天白日) emblem. Most of the real Flying Tigers heros did not work for the USAF. Most of them did not even want to join the U.S. 14th Air Force in 1942. Please respect the Chinese history.
@wszgr you obviously have not read any other comments on this video. I only used the planes in the game with the markings they came with as I could not change them. The plane also is a P40C not a P40B and there were no 4 engine JP bombers in the war. bla bla bla. I know all of this. I am not trying to disrespect any one by making this but I am trying to keep the stories alive
@LTDcunuk Yes, I’d read yours and the others comments. However, I believe your video is the main source of presented information but not those pages of comments. Am I correct? You won’t take forged medicine, will you? Why would people need to accept altered history and misleading graphics presentation? Besides, I saw others left similar comments about this misleading information too.
@wszgr you are not correct. If you really want to be correct, then the only real mistake in this video is the 4 engine bombers. The US flew as the flying tigers after they entered the war and flew the P40 with the American insignia. You only seem pissed off that the markings are not chinese. This is not altered history nor misleading. Maybe you need to respect the history of those who saved the chineese from annihilation
@LTDcunuk I suggest you send a message to the mainland Chinese government and the Taiwanese government official and inform them they have been incorrect for more than 60 years. Don't forget to send the same message to the real Flying Tigers, both Chinese and Americans, members and their families or descendants. Yes, we respect those real heros who were really helping us during the war. I don't think we respect those arrogant ones who believe they are more superior but not long lasting, bye.
The markings on the P-40's should be the Chinese white sun with 12 points. That would be historically correct. The Flying Tigers were the AVG, a volunteer group. However, after war was declared a day after Dec. 7, 1941, they may have used US markings, I don't know.

@TheSonOfDumb That sucks, I use to play years ago and was thinking about playing again, im sad to hear its shutting down. It was a really fun game to play. You actually had to understand how an airplane flys and acts when shot and so on.
Hmmm, AVG with U.S markings? I thought the AVG flying in the CBI used Chinese markings. Also, I don't think the Flying Tigers ran into very many A6ms,' as that was a IJN carrier Reisen type 00'. The Flying Tigers I think fought against A5m, and Ki 43 Hayabusas out of Hankow.
Markings in earlier post. FA doesn't have the Chineese markings, but the flying tigers did fly US markings after Jan 1 1942. Also, this is a P40-c not the b variant...nit picking
What planes did they fight against? I really don't know, but there are no A5m's in the game so I used a6m2's
They fought against the Ki-43, basically the Japanese Army's version of the Zero, fast for its time, light, maneuverable, but only had 2 mgs and no cannon so the armor of the P40 usually defeated the MG. BTW, looking for a flight sim and I was wondering how this is, is it just a giant arena or is it like allies vs axis with objectives?
the game has a few different arenas to play in. The most populated is a map with 5 different countries (GB US SU JP GE) that have their own fields and factories. All are enemies to each other
Object of the game is to have the most scenes when 1 country is eliminated
In the early versions of the P-40, the 2 cannon above the engine were syncronised to fire through the propeller. It was believed to be a more accurate arrangement for the pilot.
In later versions, that had better sighting equipment, they replaced the cannons with standard 50cals in the wings. In order to run the cannon through the prop, you would have to run the barrel through the crankshaft of the engine.
Whitehorze, it is not necessary to run the cannon barrel through the crank if the prop is not connected directly to the crank. ie. gear or chain driven?
I don't know how the Bf109 series did it, but I know that they fired 30mm cannons through their spinner
The P-40-B, which was flown by the AVG had 2- .50 cals in the cowl and 4- .30 cals in the wings
As far as I know, no P-40 variant ever had cannons
the P40E had all .50 cals, 2 in the cowl, 4 in the wings
Your correct about the armament of the Warhawk. I thought they had done away with the .30 cals in the B model.
If my fuzzy memmory is functioning properly, the ME109 had the inverted V engine with mechanical fuel injection. This version had the cannon barrel running through the crankshaft of the engine and exiting the spinner...
Just a little note here on the P-40 markings-(Technically they were neither U.S. B or C models, but "Curtiss Hawk 81 Export Model" for Britain) I have seen "Tomahawks" with the US star. @nitten13 Yeah, but you forgot to mention- The insignia on the P-40s is wrong. This shows them with USAF markings, but the AVG flew for China, and so had the insignia of the Chinese Nationalist Airforce.
You can play but not being online you only play the trainning missions with computer planes..not much fun after loading the game up its free for 2 weeks online
Very nicely done video to a great game! This video actually does this game some good justice. Now that I am a real pilot, I havn't spent much time playing though so it was fun for me to watch this video. Thanks again for posting!
what people are NOT getting is that we use what is available "in game".\Fighter Ace had to give the japanese planeset a heavy bomber,so this was the best they had.chill on the "historically" correct stuff and enjoy the videos

...it's just a vid made from a game guys. Lets not get too heated about it.
I make these vids for the impression I want to make, so I use some artistic license. lol as though I am an artist. None of my vids are exactly historically accurate. Just look at the insignia on the wings. US not Chinese.
Watch and enjoy and I will be happy to have entertained you
GJ Cunuk and if those werent rigged bombers then GKs too :)
I personally can't fly those P40s at all(or any other plane that well for that matter)
For all the people ranting how the time frame is inaccurate, this is a game allows you to fly your favorite plane when ever you want. The only planes that have a restriction are the 4 jets(Me-262, MiG, Sabre, and Gloster) and its because if you put the piston planes against these, they would get annihalated. It's just for fun.
Also I listened closely to bgm and i think thats the same tune in Scarface after Tony dies just more instruments and stuff and i think its a bit faster. It only really sounds like it starting at 03:50
hey do you play Fly Aces High? There is a guy named LTARcunuk or something like that in there. Plus, I'm about to give it a try. but are graphics and everything alot better in online play?
G8N Renzan The initial prototype was completed in October 1944, a mere one year after the Navy ordered development to start, and delivered in January 1945. Excellent video Cunuk, LTD has it on the ball. We manage with some imperfections but the game is extremely playable and has a great community. Always looking for more targets, errr, players.
true enough but I could only use what the game has. Also, there are the US insignia on the wings and fuselage, instead of the Chinese. Also, the planes in the vid are P40-C's, not P40-B's, which were what was flown by the AVG. The shark mouth was actually copied form the Australian Airforce, which flew the same planes at the time. Thanks for the comments though
Great graphics, but not all historically true. The P-40 couldn't raise both wheels at the same time due to weak hydralics and the insignia are wrong for the Flying Tigers. The shark's mouth by itself does not automatically denote Flying Tiger.
Cunuk you going to take a look at world of planes when it comes out? Timber

I use a program called Fraps to capture FA film to an .avi format. You can then use any vid edit program to edit them

Excellent video Cunuk, LTD has it on the ball. We manage with some imperfections but the game is extremely playable and has a great community. Always looking for more targets, errr, players.

Flying Tigers
Philflash 4 years ago
true enough but I could only use what the game has.
