Every time I watch this intently, it brings tears to my eyes....It brings about this wholesome feeling of a nation's pride, what the soldiers do to protect it....actually quite vague and difficult to word. Personally I feel Farhan Akhtar has showed our Indian audiences, a movie to remember and cherish. With one of the most realistic depictions of combat in any Bollywood movie, without the usual chest beating and heroics. I wish Farhan Akhtar makes a 10-episode miniseries about the Kargil War, on the lines of Band of Brothers/Pacific.

In this effort mainstream cinema gets populist at times.

India lost this War because of the dominating positions held by Pakistan...IAF totally failed in this war...After downing 2 MIG Jets and a M16 copter with 10+ Commandos by Pakistan , IAF stopped its offensive operations.Note that PAF did not take part in operations against India,had it done so Indians would have lost most of their men.Finally after intervention of USA,PaK Soldiers & Kashmiri Fighters retreated from the many posts but still occupy most of them in Drass sector.
