It's working out fairly well I'd say being that I'm really looking forward to Jerusalem and TLOEG (thank you Top Shelf) more than I would be with Moore doing work for the mainstream publishers, Besides Moore

ditko's influence was in more than just hits. He helped developed the way comics were shown with panels, and body movement. Little things in design are what made spider man a hit(instead of the more ridiculous approach stan lee almost took).

@GadGades exactly. I maintain that Steve Ditko is one of the most original artists ever. Yes, others have drawn in his style, but whenever he puts pen to paper he creates fluid images with crazy motion and intensity that can never be duplicated with the same level of originality. I'd put him, Winsor McKay, Wally Wood, Jack Cole, Dave McKean, Basil Wolverton, R. Crumb and Eisner (in terms of storytelling) in the category of inimitable artists.

superheroes are very objective but Watchmen challenge that having a hero kill thousands to save millions. I dont know why Wizard magazine kept saying Watchmen help start anti-hero comics with Image most of their characters lack motivation and personal deepness,Wizard never look at DarkKnight Returns or KINGDOM COME OUTLOOK in that heros catch criminals but never go after the source that makes criminals. I just think it's a bit much that he's not giving his blessings to Zack Snyder. It's a bit understandable considering what Hollywood has done to him in the past, but come on! This guy directed 300! He's bending over backwards to remain true to Moore's works. I can't help but think he's being difficult for no real substantial reason.

He is not being difficult, and by your "no real substantial reason" I gather you are rather ignorant on why he always chooses to get his name removed from all the movies based on his work, and his share of the royalties be sent to the artist (in the case of Watchmen, Dave Gibbons).

Watchmen is a superior piece of art, and as such it takes full advantage of the comic book medium, that's why a Watchmen movie could never be as good. No matter who makes it.

Zack Snyder isn't trying to make something as good as the book. He's come out and said that at best, he hopes it to be complimentary to the book, encouraging people to read the book if they dug the movie.

Again, I can understand why he's removed his name from the likes of V for Vendetta and LXG, but to just blankly disassociate himself with ALL future Hollywood projects is a mistake, I think. Zack Snyder is one of the good guys.

I'm following the development of the movie, I'm going to see it, and I will possibly enjoy it. But I fully understand why Alan doesn't want anything to do with them, he has had a lot of bad hollywood experiences (he was sued, for instance). He is simply not interested in hollywood and it's not hard to understand why.

Zack Snyder is young, he has only made two movies (that aren't really brilliant) and he cares way more about aesthetics than story. It's the content I'm worried about.

The problem with Moore is there is no debate. Moore doesn't argue so much as preach. Only he holds the secrets of the universe, so all praise be unto him. Ditko subscribes to an ego-centric philosophy, yet he's quiet as a lamb. Moore plays the recluse but has managed to build a cult of personality around himself.
