  • I'll tell you what this ad needs...Jessica Leccia!

  • ...CC chose to highlight herself with PR & HBS for this first commercial. It's her show. She can do what she wants. I would just prefer it if she owned up to that instead of hiding behind nonsense about audio or acting offended that we all somehow think she is betraying the gay community because people are offering up constructive criticism about her first stab at a TV spot.

  • I'm calling BS on the "best audio available" right now. CC seems to forget that some of us watching work in this industry too. I can believe it was the best audio of all the scenes featuring CC and PR together because all their moments seem to be shot outdoors. Maybe that is what CC meant. But do not expect me to believe that a scene recorded outdoors in a beach parking lot or HBS cry/screaming her way through was the best audio for broadcast standards out of everyone's moments in 3 seasons...

  • @tvcat1 I'm perplexed how showing the truth of characters' lives in a "plain ol' television" commercial is somehow about "satisfying a political objective". That one statement says a lot about mindset right there.

  • also not hating or loving this so not voting either way

  • color me not surprised at what wasn't shown for a TV commercial, but to everyone who feels the same how about a fun challenge? Using the same time limit and some clips make your own TV commercial and send them in or post on your own YouTube page so we can see, remember the challenge is to make a TV commercial so think about what can and can't be shown on TV, see what you can do with the same constraints, and to @SillyS79 there was a girl on girl kiss shown on a Desperate Housewives commercial

  • Not a fan of the commercial simple as that but I believe in CC for that reason alone this ad will get a thumbs up.Whatever CC needs to ensure Venice has sponsorship and many more seasons of Venice.Looking forward to more Giani and the sisters.

  • My opinions are about the commercial and how the show is presented to the maintstream viewers. I am not worried about a shift in the direction of the show. This is not, for me, a matter of trusting CC. I don't think the commercial did anything to highlight what is so special about Venice. Valluv, you said "let the content speak for itself". To me, the content of that commercial did not speak that well for Venice...plain and simple.

  • @valluv1 You might not think those who don't care for the commercial are haters but that word has been thrown around a lot lately by other Venice viewers to describe ANYONE who voices an opinion that they perceive to be negative. DIsagreement is not inherently bad & does not necessarily (and usually doesn't) come from a negative place. There are no mean spirited intentions on the facebook or youtube posts I have read, yet certain fans have called those posters "bad seeds" and "haters". Why?

  • Why does anyone who doesn't love the commercial have to be labeled as a hater? Most of the people commenting here do so because they care about Venice and are thankful for what CC has done. You can enjoy, subscribe to, watch, & support a show & still have an opinion that differs from the majority. Personally, I want Venice to do well and I applaud the proactive efforts to advertise. I just don't think this commercial accurately represented Venice.

  • I think that we won't get anywhere if we don't have courage. I hate that there's different promos for different audiences. Look at the silent promo that was played at a lesbian bar and then look at this. I would have liked the ad to reflect the major themes of the show, to give the dying soap audience something different to look at.

I also don't know that advertising on tv is wise, it might be better to attract an internet audience at websites where people are ready to go and watch online.

  • I'm going to split the difference in attitudes. I never would have expected lesbian content in their first TV promo, but I also agree that these scenes don't necessarily reflect the show or its best work. I would have certainly showed something of JL's heavy scenes, or even Gina and her dad. Having said that, I think the purpose of this promo is to start reaching TV viewers who aren't aware of web series and viewing. A new way to watch, indeed. And to that end, I applaud their efforts.

  • I have to be honest, I'm disappointed. It's vastly different to the promos presented at events and I do wonder if it has to do with being a mainstream TV commercial. I also didn't feel that it represented Venice. I would have loved to see the Gina/Lara conversation if drama was what was supposed to be portrayed. Just my honest opinion.

  • @SillyS79 Of course it's b/c it's shown on mainstream TV. Otalia wasn't even allowed to kiss on the cheek on network TV. They do much more than that on V so choices of what can be put in a network TV ad are going to be limited (content & language wise). She just chose the best audio for this one. Fan events are different. There it's just us, no rules, just like on the web. Besides, this was only the 1st ad. There will be more w/other characters. Be patient, trust CC, & have some faith.

  • @trojanqtie I didn't expect to see a Lesbian kiss in an ad on TV but there were so many more scenes that represented Venice IMO than Richard sitting on a car telling Gina she looked amazing. It's got nothing to do with having faith in CC, I'm disappointed. That's it. I found the ad lacking and not just because there was no lesbian content. It has nothing to do with not having faith. If I don't like something, I say it. I won't pretend it's amazing just because CC is behind it.
