Jeff Baxter is beautiful man!...what a genius......look at the joy on his face and the others as they create this fabulous rendition.......very rare talent indeed!
The Ventures still make a good business in Japan. Japan is like a museum of music history, old music that American people hardly listen to still have good amount of followers. From modern jazz music to, lately shred, metal guitars. Some of them move there and live there.
Musicians make successful career in US, then retire in Japan.
...Just a note,,thay like high end audio to play that music on most high end from the states,,But there starting to flood the states now, the last 10 years or so with cheeper and still great sounding stereo gear Or thay will send the US the cheep Sony.yamaha, crap and keep the good Yamaha,,Sony crap...4 themself,s
I will never forget seeing "Skunk" perform live with Steely Dan in '75 and again with The Doobie Brothers in '77. He threw everything into his playing: rock, jazz, country, classical. My favorite guitarist of the 70's, and it's not even close.
March 10,2008 --The Ventures finally will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame !! Can't wait to see what they perform in the big all-star jam..every guitar player in attendance probably played a Ventures tune or two in some band at one time in their careers...
And that induction is so overdue it's pitiful. When you think of many of the low-talent bums who went in ahead of them it's ridiculous. One of the inductees going in with the Ventures is Madonna -- she's rock and roll??? That R and R HOF is a sham and a travesty.
sounds great man on steel, iam trying ta write something like conway and gary stewart listen to your place or mine how this goes i have a 2nd vrse: now honey, i just tiped toed right through your front door, so take off that sexy clothes that you wore,

Your friend Mac from Taft School recommended your great music videos. I heartily agree. You are fantastic.
By the way, Mac says after 30 years Brooks Barnett spoke to him. LOL
With prayers and blessings,

R.I.P. Bob Vogel......you will be greatly missed.
The music has touched so many people of so many generations, that it is amazing.
The Ventures are the greatest band that has ever been.
There is a big hole now in music history.

Great footage of Skunk Baxter on the pedal steel. Killer musician, now working as a defense consultant specializing in missile technology.
How's that for a career shift?!

The song is called 'Sleepwalking' - the instrument Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter is playing is the pedal steel guitar.
deweypug 3 years ago
Does somebody knows the name of the instrument Jeff Baxter played ? Is it steal guitar? Thank you.
justmusic70 3 years ago
justmusic70:
No, it's a steel guitar.
I'm sure Jeff could easily pay for it and not stealing it. ^_^

The song is called Sleep Walk. It was originally done by Santo and Johnny. Jeff and the Ventures did a great job.
