I love the artistic workings of both Manson and NIN almost equally, and for different reasons. NIN has had more success in the public eye, but I wouldn’t underestimate Manson’s ability to gain the same success. The only reason why Manson hasn’t won numerous Grammys is because people misinterpret the art. Manson shocks the world, and openly discusses his beliefs, which Grammy viewers necessarily don’t believe in.

Listen to some old Manson demos, and check out his Spooky Kids era. Manson was shit before Trent, who signed him on his fucking label, promoted him, gave him tons of good ideas, helped produce his albums, and gave various other input. Yeah, Twiggy wrote some awesome riffs, but Manson's best album, Antichrist Superstar, sounded like a Nine Inch Nails album. Twiggy wrote for the High End of Low, and that album sucked.

And on albums like Antichrist Superstar, when it comes to the polished engineering, texture, and endless layers of sound, you can hear Trent's fingerprints all over that album.

its true, trent helped him out a lot in the early days, but if theres anyone id say manson owes his success to its twiggy. trent was mainly financial and promotional support, he really had little to do with the music. he contributed to the writing of 3 songs on antichrist. with the exception of portait of an american family, golden age, and eat me, drink me twiggy has written the bulk of his music. and now twiggys back, but you're right.....what will he ever do without trent reznor?

Listen to some old Manson demos, and check out his Spooky Kids era. Manson was shit before Trent, who signed him on his fucking label, promoted him, gave him tons of good ideas, helped produce his albums, and gave various other input. Yeah, Twiggy wrote some awesome riffs, but Manson's best album, Antichrist Superstar, sounded like a Nine Inch Nails album. Twiggy wrote for the High End of Low, and that album sucked.

No doubt. It was the Mansons lyrics that got Reznor's attention in the first place. But the early promotion from Nothing Records helped. And on albums like Antichrist Superstar, when it comes to the polished engineering, texture, and endless layers of sound, you can hear Trent's fingerprints all over that album.

You kids are funny. Nine inch fail had very little to do with MM's rise to stardom. MM was already going from a local Florida act to a big name when trent scoped him up. Trent's work on Antichrist is vastly exaggerated, MM took flak from Trent for going in his own direction and not trying to sound like Trent's washed out band.
Manson's sound has evolved over the years while Trent is still ripping off skinny puppy, coil and nitzer ebb. You fanboy's need to check your facts.

Nah they don't get on. Reznor trashes Manson a lot more than he has trashed him, at least in public. They're very different people now, Manson still drinks and has fun, sometimes on tour he actually hangs out with his bandmates. Trent's just a dick who wishes he was still drinking and having fun That said, his recent live shows I've seen have blown Manson's away.

Up to The Fragile was great, With Teeth was average with a few gems and much of wht has come since has been shit. Manson's albums actually have positive messages beneath them though I am not a huge fan of his two latest works either. Was just pointing out that TR doesn't even associtate wit hs bandmates, then look at the way he trashed Aaron North.

Manson is still relevant -when his new album comes out he will make it to the cover of at least one of the big music magazines. Trent hasbecome increasingly irrelevant since he stopped working with Chris Vrenna, and he hasn't managed to recapture his sound because Vrenna was the man behind it. Look at the shit he is turning out now for his golddigger's band.

There hasn't been an album he's released that's sold under a million copies, except for Ghosts I-IV (which was a limited release). The guy now has another band and is doing the soundtrack for the upcoming "Social Network" movie, which is sounding amazing already. One could say, who's Marilyn Manson?

@Sean19a7x2 TR hasn't got the classic NIN sound back because Vrenna was a key man behind it apparently. Manson says TR wasn't at the ACSS recording sessions and it was him and Twiggy writing it on tour with Vrenna doing the recording though i concede that might be revisionism on his part. The public are not aware of TR as much. Case in point: Manson dressing as Kenny Powers recently returns 70+ google news hits but TR putting out a new sampler only returns 50 odd.
