Actually, the Bible commands that once a year the Hebrews use their tithes to have a hell of a party, and to use these holy tithes to buy strong drink! Or whatever they lust for! "Then shalt thou turn it into money... And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice" Deuteronomy 14 22-26 Party on, brother!
Pastors use Malachi 3:8 to guilt the flock into giving. But I know scores of people who could NOT afford 10% and they still give. They were always juggling their bills. The churches are getting rich by givers. And I have seen people struggle financially and they always say "The Lord will Provide" 2 cor 8:12 12 For if there is a ready mind, a man will have God's approval in the measure of what he has, and not of what he has not.Dear Christians.. u cant afford? Give what you can.20.00 is fine.
Beautifully made video with a clear message. The first part I understand especially if you replace the word charity with Love and of course God is Love. Also of course I remember the verse 'whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
However, tithing is to those who provide you with spiritual growth? Please provide some evidence from the new testament I and others who will watch the video would I'm sure be interested in where this interpretation comes from
Great point loggerbuck - Also, they must teach that it was more like 23-30% because there was more than one tithe - and it was never money, but livestock and produce:)
1Corinthians 16:1-4 talks about an established donation made to the church in Jerusalem. James 2:14-25 is an example of what God really wants us to do with our abundance 1Corinthians 10:33. I'm in favor of giving no matter how many times this word is found in the bible, one time is enough, but Peter here is not talking about tithing. If you look at verse four, it clearly says that Ananaiah could have kept all of the money. The problem was when he intentionally and deliberately lied to God.
This video has no biblical basis at all. you're out of context as far as the OT tithing. Show me where Paul or James specifically talks about tithing. Ps. You misspelled the word Tithe (tith).
Actually there is biblical basis on this issue, if you desire to merely look at the people you chose then you might consider taking a look at 1 Corinthians 16:1-4, James 2:14-25, and if you from Peter's perspective take a look at Acts 5:1-11. Hopefully these verses will help you understand that tithing and giving are biblical, however these are just a few verses there are over 1200 references to the word giving in the whole bible.
1 Corinthians 16:1-4 is talking about starting a collection in support of the Church (Christians) in Jerusalem during a time of need. That is not the same thing as a weekly collection to fund a local Christian organization or pay anyone's salaries. Giving to support others in a time of need is thoroughly distinct from that.
Also, you mention that tithin is biblical. That's true, it's a part of the Old Covenant from the Old Testament from before Christ's work on the cross. It was a collection of crops and cattle to be given to the priests running the temple, which was important than because it's where sacrifice for people's sins and the place of God's presence was, the holy of holies.

Christ changed all that. Christ's was the last sacrifice. When he died on the cross, the veil to the holy of holies tore in half. God's presence would no longer be confined to a special physical location.
The difference between giving and Tithing is that giving (by definition) is voluntary. Tithing was part of the law and never was voluntary.
Stop distorting the Bible for personal gain.

So I am to assume you teach tithing is to be suspended every 7th year... as the law teaches.

In the New Testament and with the New Covenant, the temple of the holy Spirit is the body of the believer.
There is no longer a need for a special physical location nor a special staff to run it. That was the purpose of the biblical tithe.
It's not biblical in terms of how things are following Christ's work on the cross, which as Christians we are all eager to honor.
The tithe has nothing to do with the New Testament Church. Giving however does.
