ah duh, the iphone 2g is jailbroken with a theme on also which makes the device way slower. Technically the only difference between iphone 3g and 2g is the backing, the fact it has gps and 3g. The processor is the same and both have the same amount of ram. If both are not jailbroken, with the same number of memory used and both have just been restarted than you will see both will be exactly the same speed on wifi or edge. I tested it myself.

The 2G had different Advertising to load on the right side of its Screen so as a Webmaster i can guarantee you that this is the reason for the 2G loading up slower because each AD on a Site has a different size and loads inb different speeds.

Tests like this should be made ONLY on a AD-FREE Site

Oh my god, really??? HSDPA??? dude, iPhone is superior over the Magic. The Magic is the same exact thing as the G1 except it doesn't have an actual keyboard...and even though the iPhone 2g is slow, it was the only phone with all of the best features in one device. if not i recommand you the 3G one, the 3G one have a 3G connection who is faster than the 2G who have Edge (slower)

but the 2G have and Aluminium body and the 3G iphone have a plastic to permet the GPS connection.

iPhone 3G have GPS, 3G connection, suoer design, and wiht the next firmware OS 3.0 the 3G iphone will have MMS (the 2G won't have)
