I hate to hate just because this is a hate vid, but I always feel like BM uses most of the money on the materials (which, I may imply, are not all that expensive compared to their prices) and less on the build quality. Reference: bradley kimura VS Mayhem; the kimura has, by far, better tolerances.
I'll buy a Boker any time over an over-hyped and over-priced piece of Mostly Chinese steel Benchmade even though Boker does make some of em in the peoples republic also ..
I prefer SOG anyway or Spyderco .on some designs.
its difficult to know what is made in North America any more .Then there's those ass holes in Customs to deal with
Its getting so were under more control then the Commies ever were in their hay days
i might still order one of those Bokers if they come up with an S30
I don't understand, so BM says that there is an infringement because a diy kit is being sold to modify a knife? So...what selling kits to modify stuff to be like something that someone else is selling as a stock product is illegal? So if spyderco or I sell a zip tie with instructions on how to put it on a tenacious we could get sued by emerson for inrfinging on there wave opener? lol my logic is probably wrong somewhere but whatever :P , anyway BM needs to grow up.
@stranger534 Finally another guy with common sense. Yes, it is crazy this did this, they sued so many guys over this and threatened so many others, I was the only one that stood up to the monster and fought back and made their behavior public for all to see. Funny thing is that Smith & Wesson and Schrade re-designed their models making them better actually so it bit Bitchmade in the ass, Boker did a re-design as well. And now their behavior in the business is well known.
I will never buy one again ! And sell the ones I have before there worth shit from bad press and quality. And I'm not just making my mind up from this posting. Alot of people know what BM is doing nowdays.
@Lvduggo69 I am glad you see I am I not the only one with these views, they sued so many guys just look at the cases all little small guys, and then settled with the big guys behind closed doors and without the courts, but they let the courts and threats deal with all the small guys. It is sick for sure and I hope more will understand this.
no matter what happens in the end there will still be two sides fighting over this you have BM lovers and haters just like Spyderco they have lovers and haters even if these comps crashed the knifes that were made before would be still sold and bought only cause the one side of fans have used and proven to them selfs that the product works while others have used them and they didn't work for them
Patents are evil. But if you are seriously boycotting benchmade over patent abuse then you must also boycott Apple and Microsoft for the same behavior. I wonder how many of you can continue posting without relaying on their crappy proprietary software...
What a comedian this guy is. Oh you are one of the Bitchmade fanboys, I see how this works. Too bad the company is run by morons and that when it actually says FAKE Benchmade in the listing on the auction they don't do anything about it.
The truth is they would rather go after sellers with stores to try to extort them from money because instead of selling quality products they've found they can simply sue people over their patents knowing that it costs over 200k to fight.
I'm talking about a knife from maybe 15 years ago,it was essentially a precursor to the first AFO, and very similar in appearance. IIRC, BM made it but for Al Mar, and it was aimed primarily at the Coast Guard... Are we talking about the same thing? My memory is a little spotty.
Randall King made things for Al Mar 15 years ago. The Case 3:2005cv01640 October 28, 2005 this is when Benchmade started making items for Al Mar after they sued Randall King.
Model BLK-S The Famous Black Automatic Knife from Charles F. Ochs III, Master Bladesmith. The Tactical folder was originally designed in 1987 for Special Operations applications and has been widely copied since it's introduction. There is only one Original Black Knife.
Randal King made the first automatics for Al Mar and he got sued by Bitchmade and Al Mar then changed things so that Bitchmade made them for them instead.
What Benchmade probably realizes is that they will likely never get back the dominence they once had in the mid to late 90's... Back then they truely were the only game in town for made in usa premium folders... most Spydies were made in japan at the time.. And imo they were well worth the 100 bucks you could get most models for.. Then they got greedy and the prices kept rising as competition from Kershaw and others offered same USA quality for less then half the price and it was over...
My first walker linerlock was a benchmade crawford leopard in ats 35 back in 96... I loved it and only bought Benchmades for several years afterward... Then in 2004 i picked up a Camillus Cuda Maxx in D2 and with Ti framelock scales, i was super impressed with its quality and function for only 130 bucks.. Started to suspect benchmade of overpricing their knives.... Then i bought several Kershaws for 1/3 the cost of BM's.. Made in USA, outstanding quality... Havent bought BM since..
Couldn't have said it better. They lost the dominance because of declining quality and poor business practices and now the only way they can make money is by suing people, but instead of suing the companies that cause them damage they decide to sue the small retailers who simply don't sell huge amounts which makes no sense because it pushes them out of business and makes them never wanting to sell Bitchmade products and the word gets around which it has.
hey man so you think that a company who made a patent shouldnt be able to sell it?
its a patent and there idea so as far as im concerned they can do whatever they like with it, if that includes selling it then thats not my problem, infact its not a problem at all, so what if they didnt inforce it for 9 years, you should be happy at them that they didnt when they could of for 9 years
It violates patent law, once it passes 6 years you loose your claim to the patent. You have to enforce your patent before year 6. Why don't you try reading some of the laws and get with the program instead of being a bigoted maniac just set out to talk shit to people.
@Roadsideimports thats my point, when someone gets an idea it isn't just for 6 years bro, and fuck just because its a law doesnt mean shit, i know for a fact you dont approve of some of the laws (switchblade laws, knuckles etc)
btw, im not bigoted, a maniac, nor am i talking shit to people... and you are the only one of us who is doing the last part
Seriously, your personal agenda is getting in the way of you providing anything near to an impartial view that any kind of reputable retailer should have. You are causing yourself more harm than anything else.
No the truth hurts plain and simple. I have nothing to hide in what I did and what I sell. Bitchmade is a morally defunct company who simply sucks.
They did not invent the 866 patent they bought it. You can buy patents from people like trading stock. They bought a patent and then 9 years later they decide to attack people on it.
Does that make any logical sense? It doesn't and the truth really does hurt.
@Roadsideimports If they bought it then they own it and the rights to that device. They have the legal authority to stop people from producing/selling products that THEY own the patent to. Its as simple as that. It doenst matter how they got it...they bought it or invented it...either way its the same legally.
I have many knives, spyderco, buck, cold steel, sog and some benchmades. I chose them and like them, i don't want no retailer trying to lecture me on my choices when they are purely based on function and design.
This is my legal battle dipshit and I am winning by informing the public of the nonsense that Les D'Ahole gets up to. The 866 Patent is bullshit, they bought the patent and then 9 years later they decided to enforce it on everyone. Yeah they didn't even invent this shit, they bought the patient.
I play my game just fine asswipe, I didn't bend over like all the other guys they went after, I spoke out and caused them more problems.
No problem with me boycotting Benchmade. I bought one of those piece a shit AFO's back in 1995 for about $130.00 and the fucken thing fell apart on me. They were rude on the phone and wouldn't make good on it and that was the first and last benchmade I ever bought. If my knife is an exapmle of benchmade quality then no wonder they sue everyone LOL They gotta make money somehow.
Lawyers and law are boring and everything is relevant to them. It matters because there are 13 lawsuits that people have to deal with because of this plus the 35 or more threats to lawsuits that are underway as well. So it is important to spread the word to help others avoid issues and to spread the word on the work ethics of Benchmade to the general public even though it is all so boring.
despite the fact i think yhey are wrong about the patent you can not deny the quality in their products. butterfly is gay? grow up! i would cary a pink knife if it was the best for the job!! benchmade is still goot stuff.
Nonsense, they do not make the best butterfly knife that is BS. 29 Knives makes cools stuff, Jerry Hom's model runs circles around anything that Benchmade came up with. The Arc-Angel was made better, Spyderco makes better stuff. So the best that is a joke, Bitchmade is overpriced bullshit for all the half wits out there that are the fan boys. The Bitchmade fanboys need to go hang out with the Microsoft fanboys and have their pickle eater festival.
Im only a fan of quality! Who said any thing about best butterfly knife? stop smoking that stupid shit and pay attention! all the manufactures you stated makes great stuff including benchmade. your an idiot. overpriced for the retards who pay retail any way. do you really care if their is a butterfly on your blade. then you dont really use your knife. why do you talk about pickle eating so much? let me guess, the bigger the blade the better? i think you just have not really used a knife for EDC?
It is not a pink shirt it is salmon. No Gaylord, it is pink. So you can wear your pink shirt and have your knife with a butterfly on it and regardless of your view it is what it is to most real men, simply gay.
I know that carrying a knife with a butterfly on it in the military is apart of the "Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy"
You are the joke, most Bitchmades items are now made in China, materials from China, and assembled by immigrants ask US Immigration about their investigation.
See you are the reason for the demise of America. Just because it has an American name does not mean it sells American products. Then the law is so polluted now, that parts and pieces made outside of America and then simply put together here constitutes Made in the USA to be stamped upon things, what a joke.
That is the most pathetic view of all and your convoluted attempt to attack the messenger rather than the message is the true sign of ignorance and weak and feeble minded person.
yes it is bullshit to have immigrant that are illegal to assemble, bullshit actually! and wrong to label made in america if it is not< I understand that! but back to quality, hard to beat!
So again all you say is gay. Looks like you have a pretty good idea of gay!? focusing all your attention on "pickles". we were questioning quality not where it is made or from products imported. are you saying imigrants cant build a product just as well? or that products from other countries aren't as good? your other knives you bragg about all have knives made in other countries! some premium steels can only be bought abroad! you most know a lot of "real" men to speak for most!
See it is futile it always results on attacking the messenger than the message. So you should run for politics you fit in good with those scumbags you got the mentality already for it.
Yes, high grade steels are from other countries because the US decided not to produce things and the major global control of US Steel is gone.
Quality of Bitchmade that is a joke it is overpriced period for what it is and you can ask alot of guys with tours from Iraq on that one.
Benchmade is a morally defunct company that has sued everyone in the US to gain back its so called dominance of the market place.
They lost the military contract to Gerber for a reason, they make overpriced items that quality to cost ratios were not accurate and they lost out rightfully so.
A butterfly logo is gay period no changing that unless you are a girl and girls with pricks don't count on that either.
Well. shows how much you know! USA produces some of the best steels around right now(154cm, s30v, d2) all from usa,at a price. You say my beloved company, actually i am a hard core spyderco fan only owning 2 benchmades in my collection of course due to cost. i just give respect were it is due. even to a fag like you with your poser attitude! government contract or not they still shit on the laws, i get it, still you cant give any actual reason to call them crap quality!
Back to the childish mentality once again. 154cm is from PA and s30v is Crucible Materials Corporation from NY. D2 is not stainless it is tool steel, good stuff though. Bitchmade does use some of it not in everything.
Then as for the quality issue I'll use the email from Travis while he was in Iraq then:
The Marine Corps has issued me several Benchmade knives that they had to purchase for us and if we lose one they take the money out of our paychecks, and those thing are too damn expensive for what they are really worth. If you have any ideas on any tools that any of my Marines or I could use as Combat Engineers (we play with explosives and mine detectors) please inform me about them.
So with due regard to your bullshit on this post I choose to believe the honorable men in the field that give their life to defend this country. It is my duty to them Semper Fi and if you can't be Always Faithful as Travis is to this country then you are truly the reason for the demise of our great nation.
again all that email said was "too expensive" never did he say they were shit just wanted to not have to pay for it!! yo proved it yourself over and over again!!! when you have a true reason then writer back. also you just proved the military still issues benchmades to soldiers!! guess why? high quality. just cause you hate them does not make them bad. example that maybe a "real" man can understand: ihate the yankees but guess what they are in the world series!! you dont get there if you suck!!
the real demise is peole who sell the foreign crap to our cictizens like yourself, then claim semper fi?? sell american shit if you really believe thats the demise!! your a poser!! i have the utmost respect for our troops!! you must not when your putting the money in the hand of foreiners! at least they are still sn american company and the money stays in our economy.
so you admit you were wrong about usa can not make good steels!!!stainless or not? bacaused guess what they are all used in kinfe making!! the good expensive ones!! you get what you pay for. any company using any one of those steels will be expensive!
You seriously don't listen, COST TO QUALITY RATIO. Then you have not seen what they did with the Balisong pivots they use which they state you can remove the blade and replace it at a later date because they will be selling blade replacements and then on the warranty if you remove the pivots which you have to pound out with a center punch voids the warranty. Catch 22 and that constitutes JUNK as well.
Benchmade lost the military contract this year genius to Gerber, Iraq has been going on for YEARS now, where have you been?
I sell things and have a CHEAP SHIT WARNING and tell people to buy American but you are too busy being an ass to realize that.
And to tell you the truth you stupid moron I sell mainly to foreign clients bringing money into the US economy and taking it from theirs. But you are too stupid and run your mouth too much to even fathom the concept of that.
After that last idiotic comment you can take your stupid comments and write them all you want because they are semantic blockage and constitutes the reason for the education system in the US being such a gross failure. People don't even need to see that last childish nonsense that you wrote because such childish behavior is expected from a 5 year old. It does go to show that it is futile to have conversations with Benchmade fanboys just like the Microsoft fanboys.
Yeah JB,I feel for you brother, and hope CRKT steps up, and establishes their earlier patent. This would give are dear friend Les at "BITCHMADE"something to be concerned about. If that does happen,it could open up grounds for a counter suit,on your part,as well as others who have been the victims of this scumbag of a Company.I think I will take the safety of my Kalashnikov, and send it back, with a nice liitle "note"
To tell you the truth I don't understand why any guy that is heterosexual would want a knife with a butterfly on it.
I think that Les's gay logo speaks for itself. It really is a pickle eater knife when you think about it from the logo to how it is made. Anotherword Les your knives are GAY.
I hope Les De Ahole reads this and I hope because of your childish behavior it makes your company go bankrupt.
I'm glad more people are beginning to see the truth about things.
wth is wrong w/butterflies? seriously ppl, just because im a guy, does that mean that- 1. I should like only dark colors? 2. I have to like knives, guns, and politics? 3. I have to think that everything is GAY? 4. I have to bitch about everything? 5. I can't have long hair? 6. I cant look good in my own eyes? 7. I gotta be a dick to everyone? 8. I gotta be buff? 9. I can't like purple or pink? 10. I can't hold an affection to animals? seriously? grow up people..
As far as I'm concerned,Benchmade,A.K.A "SHITMADE"can take their stuff, and pack it up their asses! It's should be a crime to sell some of the crap they sell. How about an O.T.F auto for over $400.00?! WTF????!!!!!!!THEY ARE FUCKING LOW GRADE GARBAGE!
Amen to that, I like that SHITMADE that is a good one, I'm sure Les De Ahole would really like that, I'm glad Les is doing such a good job at pissing off everyone, I hope his piss poor behavior with this makes him go bankrupt.
lol... have you seen how much micro/ultratechs are? not trying to back up any company, i like all nice knives. i have a bm42, buck knife and kershaw leek.
That is the truth but Benchmade somehow managed to get a patent on this lock when applied to an automatic knife and no one has had the gumption to get this revoked from the US Patent Office so I hope I get enough people aware of the issue, because there are alot of people being sued this year.
how fucking stupid is benchmade they didnt invent a lock its a law to have one i think not 100 percent sure every situation is different boker makes a better knife cooler looking knife and better quality knife
I'm happy you think so and maybe other consumers after reading things will come to the same conclusions.
I believe the same to be true, if you take cost to quality ratios then I conclude BOKER to be much better for a desired purchase and will perform much better for the money spent.
The Patent is definitely generic in all its senses, the problem for most people is that they don't have $200,000 to litigate this issue, but if I can gather all the information and post it all over the internet so that this can never happen to anyone else because the rock solid information is easily available to people we can really put a stop to Benchmade and their newly found money generating machine of sueing people.
I am more concerned that this never happens to anyone else.
They can't I've spoken with Randall King, Al Mar, Blackhawk, they all have non-disclosure settlements with them, their hands are tied behind their backs.
BOKER told Benchmade they would go to court because they do not produce automatics, which is a valid point & Benchmade backed out.
Smith & Wesson/Schrade ie Taylor Cutlery simply don't have the money for the battle & are going to rework their models to have a top handle safety like the Gerber models.
Years ago I liked Benchmade products. But sadly over the years I saw the quality drop and the prices rise. I once owned a manual version of the Benchmade Spike (1996 roughly). It is the ONLY $20.00 plus production knife thats liner lock has ever failed on me. Infact the liner lock out right broke/snapped, When 15 pounds of preasure was applied to it. Bench Made tried to claim "Abuse" on the warranty claim! Eventually a replacmnt was sent to me. I tossed it out as it had the same production run #
Awesome. I posted the information you pointed out and gave you the credit for bringing this to my attention for the BM42 pivots and then I posted the sales information to prove the point, they can't escape it now that I it is documented because that does proves the false advertising claims.
Smith & Wesson is now discontinuing the Extreme OPS push button models because of fear of Benchmade. Most companies can not face this issue because it takes $200,000 to fight things like this.
I totally agree that what they're doing is wrong wrong wrong!
I quess Benchmade goes to the same gategory as Cold Steel being a company I hate, but whose knives I like. I know, you may call me an ignorant fool, and I probably am one. I love knives and if I like a surtain design I can't help it, sorry.
Not that it really helps but I wish you the best of luck in your battle against the corporate monster. And I hope Benchmade loses and is put in line.
He agrees with me, genius because he bought it from me and his only locks when closed. See Australians are men of honor and have integrity and are honest people. Maybe the Benchmade fanboys should do a little searching with morality and being truthful and learn a few things from the Aussies.
what knifes can you ship to australia? i was wondering if your stiletto spring assist knifes can be sent here or is there a law against it cos if its double edge
Double edge are not illegal, they are only illegal in some states. I ship alot of my items to Oz, just email me direct and ask about the item or items you want.
You say that on a Boker that the safety stop only stops it from opening. I have a Boker Kalashnikov 74 and your statement is wrong. On mine, once you take off the safety and fire, you can push the safety back to the safety position. The effect is a locked open blade by use of the safety.
Only if you put the button in backwards with the tab set, if you put it back the other way it won't work. The point is not that no BOKER, Smith & Wesson, or Schrade model is allowed to be sold to Americans because of Benchmade's Patent on that is from 1997, this is 2009 the Patent should be over and done with. So you are right the plastic piece is junk, I couldn't agree more with that. But remember you are not allowed that piece of plastic according to Benchmade.
wow, dude, you've obviously have never owned a benchmade. did you point out any of the good sides of benchmade? no you didn't, you are just attacking benchmade in defense of yourself.
benchmades sued almar
spyderco sued benchmade
everybody sued coldsteel for their marketing propaganda
kabar sued camillus
ontario had troubles with their "RAT" series of knives.
nothing new guys, in any business you are going to see this kind of stuff going on. and benchmade does not sell "pieces of junk".
Benchmade is claiming rights to the plastic lock on Boker Magnum, Boker Kalashnikov, Boker Reality Base, Smith & Wesson models, and Schrade models now. Any model that has a lock is the issue.
AlMar knives, MOD, Randall King, and many others all have been sued and all now pay royalties to Benchmade for the lock on the knife that they claim they invented, which is nonsense.
This is the reason why America is run by lawyers and corruptness because it is not the lock it is how they go about things
I will no longer buy benchmade. There are plenty of other brands (kershaw, spyderco, etc.) that give you higher quality knives with out being over priced.
are you saying the spyderco isn't overpriced? hahahahahahhah you are dead wrong buddy, after owning 12 spydies, and 8 BM's, i absolutely hate spyderco, all of their designs are the same. and you guys are hating on benchmade, do you know of any other company that makes a balisong even close to benchmades quality? or even swithblades for that matter? and you're always going to see drama from knife companies, spyderco tried to patened a whole, and they sued benchmade for it! and lets not talk CS.
That is the point, if you can prove that it is function then it is not accepted as a patent any longer. Better than Benchmade, easy for a balisong. Go buy a Dalton Combat. The Cold Steel Arc Angle that Camillus made for them is awesome, Jerry Hom's Basilisk hands down beats Benchmade, Microtech Dragon Fly models beat them. There are plenty you just have to look.
Right after I posted that message I realized I made a mistake and it was too late to change it. I do agree that spyderco is expensive and sometimes overpriced but I personally love most of their knives. Of corse there are a few models that are not worth the price but the ones that are worth it cut great and look great (IMO).
Well, we got an update Benchmade is now claiming rights to Smith & Wesson and Schrade and all Taylor Cutlery products that have the locking device as well.
The war is on. Many big store now have violations and are being forced to sell off their goods.
The battle is huge and will force Americans to only be able to purchase all button lock models from Benchmade or if Benchmade approves of the company and receives royalties.
That is crazy, I am definitely BOYCOTTING BENCHMADE.
This company is nothing more than a big bully, they found a loophole and they exploit people.
Why are not Smith & Wesson and the Schrade models considered patent violations to the "866 Patent"?
By the sounds of things all automatics that are side opening with a button can not have locks unless Benchmade makes it or allows others to do so, then some kind of mention to the patent is normal.
I can't believe these numbskulls!! What's next, they're going to claim copyright to the word "Stiletto"? Or how about "OTF"? Or maybe "side-opening"? Geez! They're out of their mind!! Hopefully this will be resolved in court... and at this rate, it should be a 10 second case.
Well, so far it cost me $15,000 and my lawyer said I would win but it would cost me $87,000 for him to go to trial. So I ran out of money that is what Benchmade wanted and intended for me to do. But I got smart and I got awarded Pro-Bono. So everyone who wants to help out with information I have a court appointed lawyer and we can make this cost Benchmade hundreds of thousands of dollars to settle and put them back into their place.
you should really pursue this, all major companies try to do when they infringe on laws like these is to drag out the case until smaller companies/people run out of money. HOWEVER eventually they will decide they have spent more money dragging it out than they will lose if they lose. You will make all your money back and do a good deed to the world if you can change these laws or at least damage benchmades reputation. You might be able to got monetary support from benchmades competitors. GL.
dude, i understand benchmade is a greedy selfish ass hole company and you want to spread the word about it, but please dont make so goddamn many. if you're gona make anti-benchmade vids, please make them shorter lol. im happy to watch your vids, but the 10 minutes vids gotta stop
That's pretty funny. Yeah I got alot to cover it is more about the background of the case stuff, I had to break them all down to each area and be complete about it. The issue is quite large because ultimately if I loose on this then everyone else will loose as well because it sets case law. I have a few more issues to bash on Benchmade remember it is about content and I want to be right in Benchmade's face with it all.
I have three more videos to do. I have one about the Benchmite that has to be done and warn sellers about. Then I have to do one about what Benchmade did to the Military and why they hate the company. Then last make my final conclusions and tell Benchmade to kiss my arse. Then I will go back to doing videos as normal and post all my new items.
Well, I have to warn all other sellers for this issue because Benchmade can come after you if you sell them with the locks on them. So hopefully we can get people to understand that Benchmade simply sues everyone in the knife world. It is not about their products but about the methods they take against their competition.
It is a sore subject for alot of people because they are such fans of Benchmade but the truth about them needs to be made light off and these issues need to be stopped and hopefully everything will come out in the court case.
Well, I am Kershaw`s bitch, owning many of their speedsafe knives, but I just feel like they`re made with more care.

My memory is a little spotty.
insecticon77 1 year ago
Randall King made things for Al Mar 15 years ago. The Case 3:2005cv01640 October 28, 2005 this is when Benchmade started making items for Al Mar after they sued Randall King.
Model BLK-S The Famous Black Automatic Knife from Charles F. Ochs III, Master Bladesmith. The Tactical folder was originally designed in 1987 for Special Operations applications and has been widely copied since it's introduction. There is only one Original Black Knife.
Roadsideimports 1 year ago
Wasn't BM first Auto, an early version of the AFO made *for* Al Mar?
insecticon77 1 year ago
Randal King made the first automatics for Al Mar and he got sued by Bitchmade and Al Mar then changed things so that Bitchmade made them for them instead.

What Benchmade probably realizes is that they will likely never get back the dominence they once had in the mid to late 90's... Back then they truely were the only game in town for made in usa premium folders... most Spydies were made in japan at the time.. And imo they were well worth the 100 bucks you could get most models for.. Then they got greedy and the prices kept rising as competition from Kershaw and others offered same USA quality for less then half the price and it was over...
rainmechanic 1 year ago
My first walker linerlock was a benchmade crawford leopard in ats 35 back in 96... I loved it and only bought Benchmades for several years afterward... Then in 2004 i picked up a Camillus Cuda Maxx in D2 and with Ti framelock scales, i was super impressed with its quality and function for only 130 bucks.. Started to suspect benchmade of overpricing their knives.... Then i bought several Kershaws for 1/3 the cost of BM's.. Made in USA, outstanding quality... Havent bought BM since..
rainmechanic 1 year ago
Couldn't have said it better. They lost the dominance because of declining quality and poor business practices and now the only way they can make money is by suing people, but instead of suing the companies that cause them damage they decide to sue the small retailers who simply don't sell huge amounts which makes no sense because it pushes them out of business and makes them never wanting to sell Bitchmade products and the word gets around which it has.
Roadsideimports 1 year ago
hey man so you think that a company who made a patent shouldnt be able to sell it?
its a patent and there idea so as far as im concerned they can do whatever they like with it, if that includes selling it then thats not my problem, infact its not a problem at all, so what if they didnt inforce it for 9 years, you should be happy at them that they didnt when they could of for 9 years
tehpurplepills 1 year ago
It violates patent law, once it passes 6 years you loose your claim to the patent. You have to enforce your patent before year 6. Why don't you try reading some of the laws and get with the program instead of being a bigoted maniac just set out to talk shit to people.
Roadsideimports 1 year ago
@Roadsideimports thats my point, when someone gets an idea it isn't just for 6 years bro, and fuck just because its a law doesnt mean shit, i know for a fact you dont approve of some of the laws (switchblade laws, knuckles etc)
btw, im not bigoted, a maniac, nor am i talking shit to people... and you are the only one of us who is doing the last part

Roadsideimports 1 year ago
@Roadsideimports If they bought it then they own it and the rights to that device. They have the legal authority to stop people from producing/selling products that THEY own the patent to. Its as simple as that. It doenst matter how they got it...they bought it or invented it...either way its the same legally.

I agree. That little crusade is retarded.

And the battle is not even over yet.

Lawyers and law are boring and everything is relevant to them. It matters because there are 13 lawsuits that people have to deal with because of this plus the 35 or more threats to lawsuits that are underway as well. So it is important to spread the word to help others avoid issues and to spread the word on the work ethics of Benchmade to the general public even though it is all so boring.

despite the fact i think yhey are wrong about the patent you can not deny the quality in their products. butterfly is gay? grow up! i would cary a pink knife if it was the best for the job!! benchmade is still goot stuff.
jdslili 2 years ago
Nonsense, they do not make the best butterfly knife that is BS. 29 Knives makes cools stuff, Jerry Hom's model runs circles around anything that Benchmade came up with. The Arc-Angel was made better, Spyderco makes better stuff. So the best that is a joke, Bitchmade is overpriced bullshit for all the half wits out there that are the fan boys. The Bitchmade fanboys need to go hang out with the Microsoft fanboys and have their pickle eater festival.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
Im only a fan of quality! Who said any thing about best butterfly knife? stop smoking that stupid shit and pay attention! all the manufactures you stated makes great stuff including benchmade. your an idiot. overpriced for the retards who pay retail any way. do you really care if their is a butterfly on your blade. then you dont really use your knife. why do you talk about pickle eating so much? let me guess, the bigger the blade the better? i think you just have not really used a knife for EDC?
jdslili 2 years ago
It is not a pink shirt it is salmon. No Gaylord, it is pink. So you can wear your pink shirt and have your knife with a butterfly on it and regardless of your view it is what it is to most real men, simply gay.
I know that carrying a knife with a butterfly on it in the military is apart of the "Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy"
You are the joke, most Bitchmades items are now made in China, materials from China, and assembled by immigrants ask US Immigration about their investigation.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
See you are the reason for the demise of America. Just because it has an American name does not mean it sells American products. Then the law is so polluted now, that parts and pieces made outside of America and then simply put together here constitutes Made in the USA to be stamped upon things, what a joke.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
Then things become even worse things are put together by illegal immigrants that are not even American, even more a joke.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
That is the most pathetic view of all and your convoluted attempt to attack the messenger rather than the message is the true sign of ignorance and weak and feeble minded person.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
yes it is bullshit to have immigrant that are illegal to assemble, bullshit actually! and wrong to label made in america if it is not< I understand that! but back to quality, hard to beat!
jdslili 2 years ago
So again all you say is gay. Looks like you have a pretty good idea of gay!? focusing all your attention on "pickles". we were questioning quality not where it is made or from products imported. are you saying imigrants cant build a product just as well? or that products from other countries aren't as good? your other knives you bragg about all have knives made in other countries! some premium steels can only be bought abroad! you most know a lot of "real" men to speak for most!
jdslili 2 years ago
See it is futile it always results on attacking the messenger than the message. So you should run for politics you fit in good with those scumbags you got the mentality already for it.
Yes, high grade steels are from other countries because the US decided not to produce things and the major global control of US Steel is gone.
Quality of Bitchmade that is a joke it is overpriced period for what it is and you can ask alot of guys with tours from Iraq on that one.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
Benchmade is a morally defunct company that has sued everyone in the US to gain back its so called dominance of the market place.
They lost the military contract to Gerber for a reason, they make overpriced items that quality to cost ratios were not accurate and they lost out rightfully so.
A butterfly logo is gay period no changing that unless you are a girl and girls with pricks don't count on that either.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
You can piss and cry that your beloved knife company is being attacked but that won't change the facts.
Benchmade Cost to Quality Ratio = Overpriced Junk
Items made in China, parts made in China, ask immigration about the illegal aliens doing the assembly work.
13 major lawsuits in Federal Court and a 100 more letters of intent and threats to sellers in retail, wholesale and producers over bogus litigation.
These variables mark out the pattern of a shameful and disgraceful company.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
Well. shows how much you know! USA produces some of the best steels around right now(154cm, s30v, d2) all from usa,at a price. You say my beloved company, actually i am a hard core spyderco fan only owning 2 benchmades in my collection of course due to cost. i just give respect were it is due. even to a fag like you with your poser attitude! government contract or not they still shit on the laws, i get it, still you cant give any actual reason to call them crap quality!
jdslili 2 years ago
Back to the childish mentality once again. 154cm is from PA and s30v is Crucible Materials Corporation from NY. D2 is not stainless it is tool steel, good stuff though. Bitchmade does use some of it not in everything.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
Then as for the quality issue I'll use the email from Travis while he was in Iraq then:
The Marine Corps has issued me several Benchmade knives that they had to purchase for us and if we lose one they take the money out of our paychecks, and those thing are too damn expensive for what they are really worth. If you have any ideas on any tools that any of my Marines or I could use as Combat Engineers (we play with explosives and mine detectors) please inform me about them.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
So with due regard to your bullshit on this post I choose to believe the honorable men in the field that give their life to defend this country. It is my duty to them Semper Fi and if you can't be Always Faithful as Travis is to this country then you are truly the reason for the demise of our great nation.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
again all that email said was "too expensive" never did he say they were shit just wanted to not have to pay for it!! yo proved it yourself over and over again!!! when you have a true reason then writer back. also you just proved the military still issues benchmades to soldiers!! guess why? high quality. just cause you hate them does not make them bad. example that maybe a "real" man can understand: ihate the yankees but guess what they are in the world series!! you dont get there if you suck!!
jdslili 2 years ago
the real demise is peole who sell the foreign crap to our cictizens like yourself, then claim semper fi?? sell american shit if you really believe thats the demise!! your a poser!! i have the utmost respect for our troops!! you must not when your putting the money in the hand of foreiners! at least they are still sn american company and the money stays in our economy.
jdslili 2 years ago
so you admit you were wrong about usa can not make good steels!!!stainless or not? bacaused guess what they are all used in kinfe making!! the good expensive ones!! you get what you pay for. any company using any one of those steels will be expensive!
jdslili 2 years ago
You seriously don't listen, COST TO QUALITY RATIO. Then you have not seen what they did with the Balisong pivots they use which they state you can remove the blade and replace it at a later date because they will be selling blade replacements and then on the warranty if you remove the pivots which you have to pound out with a center punch voids the warranty. Catch 22 and that constitutes JUNK as well.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
Benchmade lost the military contract this year genius to Gerber, Iraq has been going on for YEARS now, where have you been?
I sell things and have a CHEAP SHIT WARNING and tell people to buy American but you are too busy being an ass to realize that.
And to tell you the truth you stupid moron I sell mainly to foreign clients bringing money into the US economy and taking it from theirs. But you are too stupid and run your mouth too much to even fathom the concept of that.

Roadsideimports 2 years ago
good man, this is a very courteous sentiment.
you may want to mail of a letter to microtech and robbie dalton because i believe they have similar button lock and saftey designs.
sohanlon10 2 years ago
They can't I've spoken with Randall King, Al Mar, Blackhawk, they all have non-disclosure settlements with them, their hands are tied behind their backs.
BOKER told Benchmade they would go to court because they do not produce automatics, which is a valid point & Benchmade backed out.
Smith & Wesson/Schrade ie Taylor Cutlery simply don't have the money for the battle & are going to rework their models to have a top handle safety like the Gerber models.
He who has the money rules or do they?
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
Yup the Top lock is on a 25 year old United Cutlery E-Z Lock model UC49.
You can look it up and see clearly that it has the lock.
Then why does Benchmade first attack me on BOKER models then move to Smith & Wesson and Schrade and then what about CRKT.
Why won't Benchmade attack me on the CRKT with Autolawks which is clearly a top mount lock?
Maybe because CRKT filed a year before Benchmade on the Patent?
Come on Les De Asis answer the question why not attack CRKT on the Anubis or Pharaoh?
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
Years ago I liked Benchmade products. But sadly over the years I saw the quality drop and the prices rise. I once owned a manual version of the Benchmade Spike (1996 roughly). It is the ONLY $20.00 plus production knife thats liner lock has ever failed on me. Infact the liner lock out right broke/snapped, When 15 pounds of preasure was applied to it. Bench Made tried to claim "Abuse" on the warranty claim! Eventually a replacmnt was sent to me. I tossed it out as it had the same production run #
Raegoul1 2 years ago

Roadsideimports 2 years ago
You say that on a Boker that the safety stop only stops it from opening. I have a Boker Kalashnikov 74 and your statement is wrong. On mine, once you take off the safety and fire, you can push the safety back to the safety position. The effect is a locked open blade by use of the safety.
Just a FYI.
P.S.The thing I hate is that its made of plastic.
MKalashnikov762 2 years ago

OTEP1234567891011 2 years ago
Benchmade is claiming rights to the plastic lock on Boker Magnum, Boker Kalashnikov, Boker Reality Base, Smith & Wesson models, and Schrade models now. Any model that has a lock is the issue.
AlMar knives, MOD, Randall King, and many others all have been sued and all now pay royalties to Benchmade for the lock on the knife that they claim they invented, which is nonsense.
This is the reason why America is run by lawyers and corruptness because it is not the lock it is how they go about things
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
I will no longer buy benchmade. There are plenty of other brands (kershaw, spyderco, etc.) that give you higher quality knives with out being over priced.
305goped 2 years ago 4
are you saying the spyderco isn't overpriced? hahahahahahhah you are dead wrong buddy, after owning 12 spydies, and 8 BM's, i absolutely hate spyderco, all of their designs are the same. and you guys are hating on benchmade, do you know of any other company that makes a balisong even close to benchmades quality? or even swithblades for that matter? and you're always going to see drama from knife companies, spyderco tried to patened a whole, and they sued benchmade for it! and lets not talk CS.
OTEP1234567891011 2 years ago
That is the point, if you can prove that it is function then it is not accepted as a patent any longer. Better than Benchmade, easy for a balisong. Go buy a Dalton Combat. The Cold Steel Arc Angle that Camillus made for them is awesome, Jerry Hom's Basilisk hands down beats Benchmade, Microtech Dragon Fly models beat them. There are plenty you just have to look.
Roadsideimports 2 years ago
Right after I posted that message I realized I made a mistake and it was too late to change it. Well, we got an update Benchmade is now claiming rights to Smith & Wesson and Schrade and all Taylor Cutlery products that have the locking device as well.

I hope you win and put an end to Benchmade.

Roadsideimports 2 years ago
you should really pursue this, all major companies try to do when they infringe on laws like these is to drag out the case until smaller companies/people run out of money. HOWEVER eventually they will decide they have spent more money dragging it out than they will lose if they lose. You will make all your money back and do a good deed to the world if you can change these laws or at least damage benchmades reputation. You might be able to got monetary support from benchmades competitors. GL.
