  • Wrote a Lyme disease brochure with the help of 2 Lyme specialists. Will email to anyone interested.

  • Yes, and why is it that you can be treated for a myriad of illnesses without proper testing to prove that is what you have? Do you really have the flu or a cold or is the doctor just guessing? They prescribe for fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue for which we do not know the cause nor do we have a definitive test. They prescribe for irritable bowel syndrome for which no cause is known nor a test available to prove it. It's all politically tainted and it's about the money.

  • The most pathetic part of this controversy is that I did test CDC positive in the United States three times through CDC approved laboratories and was still told I did not have Lyme disease. I eventually tested through IgeneX as well which only confirmed what LabCorp had previously confirmed three times. The IDSA is criminal and no country ought to be following it's guidelines in Lyme disease until the criminals are ousted.

  • Also, late stage lyme is most likely not show up in the blood stream.

  • there ARE a few doctors in ontario if some of you can get treatment there...

some of the things they stated above, however are not true. the ticks with lyme are in many more place than simply by the borders of the US.

  • MS is also clinically diagnosed. This means there is no positive blood test, only MRI tests etc that often show the same results in lyme disease as MS. Yet the MS Dr has the right to diagnose MS but not Lyme disease. Hmmm...

Further to this, the MS Drs are not being harassed for diagnosing MS or for prescribing lifelong toxic treatments that cost the MS sufferer more then $30,000 a year!!

  • 200,00 per year proving more people are getting lyme disease than HIV or West Nile !

  • We need laws in Canada to protect the doctors educated enought to treat this disease. With only 2 doctors left in Canada that diagnose and treat lyme, with another now under investiagtion...

we really need the new bill that was passed in Conneticut protecting doctors !!

also...cdc admit 10% more cases putting that to 200,00 per year now

  • The public health official says that Private tests in the U.S. are too liberal.

However the CDC's 2-tier testing system intended for surveillance, has been erroneously co-opted and used as a diagnostic tool for Patients--

it has a miserable sensitivity of 46-56%, missing 88 out of 200 cases of Lyme.

Far below 95 % cutoff REQUIRED for an accurate diagnostic test and much worse than the 99.5% sensitivity of commercial HIV testing.

If you test Negative--does not mean that you do not have LD.

  • April 24, 2009:

"The Deutsche Borreliose-Gesellschaft (German Society of Lyme-Borreliosis)...our ability to diagnose and treat patients with Lyme disease is being severely restricted by these (IDSA)guidelines, and we believe that the guidelines must be revised to provide greater flexibility in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease given the poor laboratory test sensitivity, the persistence of the organism despite adherence to IDSA protocols, and the seriousness of this illness."

  • at around minute 6:50, it states a doctor had been under investigation for "methods of diagnosis not scientifically-proven".

Erstwhile, the methods of diagnosis set forth by the IDSA guidelines--

which most doctors conventionally look to for diagnosis, including Canadian physicians--

    are not scientifically proven.

Lyme is a clinical diagnosis for good reason. Other illnesses are READILY dx'd clinically. Perhaps 2 readily esp when many lyme px are misdx'd originally& suffer for yrs b/c of it.

  • @capricorn1968 Not only that, at the 47th annual IDSA meeting, 2 of their members presented a study which showed that only 15% of the IDSA 's guidelines were based on the highest evidence possible. This goes against there own rule that before a guideline is made it must be based on a minimum of 50% of the highest evidence. In February of 2010 they were found violating the settlement agreement they had with the Connecticut attorney general. Their evil deeds just don't stop.

  • Playback of this piece is double the sound track echoing. I usually have no problems with You Tube.

  • Despite having a tick bite, bulls eye rash and dozens and dozens of symptoms I cannot get treated in Canada. Its the USA for me and it will bankrupt me. Its a disgrace.
