As a newspaper photographer I can tell you this cop was out of control, totally abusing his power. The TV reporter was no different than any other people standing around the accident. Why was he singled out? Why is it okay for the public to stand and watch, but the media is forced to leave? it is vital the public knows when, where and why news events occur. No one seems to care about the overturned tracker trailer and the serious accident the officer is trying to deal with. Officer is conducting his investigation, reporter gets in his way and obstructs his investigation, officer's safety is now compromised because he is now dealing with the reporter instead of paying attention to the dangerous traffic on the highway... As a newspaper photographer I can tell you this cop was out of control, totally abusing his power. The TV reporter was no different than any other people standing around the accident. Why was he singled out? Why is it okay for the public to stand and watch, but the media is forced to leave? it is vital the public knows when, where and why news events occur. Through greater information we can help prevent similar accidents from happening again. This cop needs to be fired.

@911dispatcher I drove trucks for 10 years, around 2 million miles and many pull overs. California has a truckers reputation for bad cops but I avoided running illegal and even when pulled over never had a bad experience.
Now in Indiana and Illinois I've been pulled and given hard core attitude. they refuse to answer why they pull you over and if you do get a reason it's after the full inspecton and it's usually a trumped up warning ticket for speeding as an excuse to write a paperwork violation

@911dispatcher I've been under direction of texas state troopers and sheriffs and you are right. treat them with respect, do what they say and they are 100% cool and in charge and if you have an objection to something and present it as a gentleman they will listen.
Most important things to remember are
Nobody likes dangerous or speeding trucks through their town
You get what you give
The side of the road or any other dangerous place is no place to conflict with an officer. it is his theatre.

@911dispatcher I have had arguments with officers but they were played out as discussions. if they did not want to discuss I did not press the issue and I plead my case to the county prosecutor asking them to reconsider the evidence and consider dropping the case. You type out your statement, get it notarized, file it with the pros.and you send it in with a check in the amount of the ticket.

. when the pros gets the request they see a scofflaw and a freeloader. it's human nature.
When they see a check to cover the fine sent in with the request to reconsider the charge it takes the money off the table as an issue.
They see you have put your money where your mouth is and that you are fighting for something you believe in not trying to get out of it. It also shows you are abnormally dedicated =P.I.T.A.
