Proud to say i've cleanly lost 35lbs in the past 2 months, Scooby. I've cut down on the protein shakes and upped my amino acid intake and chicken/turkey/fish protein and my pre-workouts/multivitamins. My body has gone through some drastic changes. Given my genetics are good and I can show muscle fairly quickly. I went from 240+ to 210. I am 5"10 and 22yrs old so I figure i should get down to around 190-195 to show alot more lean muscle. I didnt lose my fat by counting calories i just stopped eating crap and did more cardio i was already in good shape but just to get my bf to 10% still have a cheat meal once a week though
Im going on a two week holiday soon where I wont have access to a gym. I will be doing cardio such as swimming and some bodyweight excersizes like push ups. pull ups, crunches etc and also keeping my diet reasonably good but probably not as good as usual though
it is nt possible for me to do any tym of workout coz of a realy bad knee ..i can barly walk on it .. but the problem is tht im gaining alot of fat .. canu plz help me ..

This is wrong..... You shouldn't eat based off ratios, you should figure out your actual protein needs to resist muscle loss during the recomp. Then get your needed fats, and fill in the remaining calories with carbohydrates. Don't make up diets based off of ratios, that's just stupid.
I do like how it gives you how much to eat of what dynamically though!
You are a vegetarian so you should know what to eat for protein........

A lot of vegetarian sources of protein are not as absorbable as non vegetarian proteins. You will need to check if the protein source for your meal is going to have a high absorption ratio, if not you will need to take in more protein than what's described in the meal plan.
@mike8213 sorry my question was not clear . Of course I know sources of protein, what I meant was a recomendation in scoobys point of view of what would " taste" good in his opinion for the particular recipe suggested in his calculator , I would be a pretty poor veggie & not have survived very long if I didnt know "actual" sources of protine! :-)

I dont want to be unbeleivably ripped like you, i just want tone. I mean ive got body fat but not a great deal but still i feel like i need to lose this. i've got a decent amount of muscle underneath but i dont mind losing some to lose the weight. Id rather just add muscle after ive lost the weight. Is it just simply plenty of cardio workouts and a good diet that will help me do this or will doing muscle workouts along with it help too because ive heard it helps your metabolism and stuff?

Having brakes from training isn't going to hurt you, as long as you eat enough protein you won't lose any mass. Unless you lets say take a 2 month break and just sit infront of a desk 24/7...

Great video... One thing I struggle on figuring out... if I were to plan 6 meals per day, and workout early in the morning... would my post-workout protein shake be counted as one of the 6 meals, or do I not count that?

Don't get me wrong. You give out good advice, and your videos are very helpful to people on this site who are new to exercise/fitness. I think that it is good that you continue to offer helpful videos on a consistent basis. I just don't understand why you can't put a shirt on. After awhile it starts to get a tad bit annoying like you are always seeking approval for your body or something.
It has nothing to do with jealousy. I am actually a personal trainer myself and I have to workout regularly/eat properly not just to stay in shape but to instill confidence in my clients that I practice what I preach. I don't like to brag, but I am in excellent shape myself with body fat under 10%.
I just don't see why he has to be shirtless in every video. Especially in videos where he is talking about meal plans. As I said before, it is like he is constantly seeking approval.

Hey Scooby, I tried this calculator out and it says i should be having 464 calories and 46 grams of protein per meal (6 meals a day). However, your video "Bulking up and gaining muscle" says with the same goal I set on the calculator (gain muscle and lose fat) I should be having 310 calories and 26 grams of protein per meal.

@MclarenFFF I am no expert but from my own experience it could be because the opposite muscles of your abs are too weak. The lower back muscles have to be strong as well. I have experienced pain myself in the lower back region, due to this strength imbalance. The same problem happened with my shoulders a few years ago..
I checked Scoobys websites section for nutrition and it told me I should have 6x26g of protein per day, the calculator told me I should have 6x49g of protein per day and the AskScooby forum suggested me that I should have 1g of protein for each pound I weight per day. I'm really confused now. I guess I'm going with the 1g per pound rule unless someone is kind enough to correct me.
@Betonilaatta YOU need to tell the calculator how much protein you want, the percentage is set in step 8. I made it flexible so people could set what they want. Noboby can TELL you what amount of protein you need because it depends on so many things.

Hey Scooby, I tried this calculator out and it says i should be having 464 calories and 46 grams of protein per meal (6 meals a day). However, your video "Bulking up and gaining muscle" says with the same goal I set on the calculator (gain muscle and lose fat) I should be having 310 calories and 26 grams of protein per meal.
Why is this?

OK but why don't you mention that you take steroids.. i only admire people that train hard and get muscles naturally ... how can an 18 or 20 year old have 250 lbs of muscle.. STEROIDS.. i'm 30 and i'm 210 lbs. it took me 10 years to get from 175 to 210.. i could be at 220 if i was serious but that's all you can grow naturally.. i say that because at the gym i see lo'ts of youngsters with 250 lbs of blown muscles.. @bulletfun i'm not bodybuilder but i can assure you if i wanted to be one i would be successful .. i'm busy person with work and family but all of my life i been playing soccer and doing pushups and pullups .i'm a member at the gym and i'm all natural.. 210 lbs 6.2.. i'm not fat but anyway.. this guy is good man i give him that.. he helps people but there is no way somebody can tell me he that he don't use steroids or something.

As painful as you find this, just realize that its also possible to add muscle mass thru decades of non-stop hard work, I have been lifting almost 30 years now without more than a day or two off a year. Yipee, I look like a 20 yr old! You made my day :)

hi scooby i love your videos im 6'1, 138 pounds.19 years old, im pretty thin. i exercise 4 a week by riding my bmx bike 7 miles i eat about 1400 to 1600 calories a day, i also eat junk food 3 a week and chocolates. my goal is to get a six pack. i have a low body fat, i kinda have a six pack, i even went to cosmetic surgeon about liposuction. the doctor said i have little fat in my adnonimal area and it cost 1800 to get it done. what do you think scooby should i just do more cardio 5 wk or 6?

I watched ur videos on how to work on my abs and I did exactly according to what u do but I have this problem that during my work my uper back starts to hurt

@MclarenFFF I am no expert but from my own experience it could be because the opposite muscles of your abs are too weak. The lower back muscles have to be strong as well. I have experienced pain myself in the lower back region, due to this strength imbalance. The same problem happened with my shoulders a few years ago..

I checked Scoobys websites section for nutrition and it told me I should have 6x26g of protein per day, the calculator told me I should have 6x49g of protein per day and the AskScooby forum suggested me that I should have 1g of protein for each pound I weight per day. I'm really confused now. I guess I'm going with the 1g per pound rule unless someone is kind enough to correct me.

@Betonilaatta YOU need to tell the calculator how much protein you want, the percentage is set in step 8. I made it flexible so people could set what they want. Noboby can TELL you what amount of protein you need because it depends on so many things.
