How do we stop this rot in our local drama production? It just keep getting worse and worse. Can't blame the actors and actresses as they don't have good scripts to work with. We need to do something about this but what?
big problem now. mediacorp now employs 80% M y actors/actress and use their hometowns as backdrop. I dont feel any Singaporeaness in nowadays drama . Simply - i stop watching. Waste time etc might as well watch china dramas

I miss this show! I think I was like 5 years old or something when it came out and I remember going to my parents' room to watch the show with my mum. Mediacorp shows are crappy now most of the time. I miss the old dramas!
I don't really like the current local dramas now... it doesn't have the same holding drama as the old ones esp from the 1980s. The older ones were somewhat more retrospective; touching, romantic... and I love all the actors, actresses from the 80s TV generation.

Haiz. The dramas are not reflective of the sentiments in Singapore's society. they try to follow the Taiwanese' idol shows but fail miserably due to lack of scripts and good actors/actresses.
A wonderful production indeed! In fact, this was one of the longer dramas back then. There are actually 2 parts, the first half showed Huang Wen Yong and all in their younger days. This is the 2nd part, where the kids, including Lin Ming Zhe and all have grown up! Good one! The cha qu, Wen Rou De Ye, also sang by Maggie Deng is also very touching.
almost every sbc oldies that I saw on Youtube feature Huang Wenyong and Xiang Yun. something missing on this drama, I think there's no Chen Sucheng which is a shocker!!
nice song - that's why they should tailor make songs for drama series. you remember those songs even though years have passed.
should mediacorp stop all current production, n replay the 80s first show to the 90s end daily, let us enjoyeeeeeeeeeeee

是编剧、导演的问题吧。80年代的电视剧是用心拍的，现在的电视剧只是凑数罢了。

就拿主题歌来说吧。80年代的主题歌作词填曲都是很动听很贴切的，现在的主题曲基本上是一耳进一耳出。而且现在的连续剧演技夸张得不得了，比起80年代含蓄的表达方式。。。唉，真是可怜90年代后出生的人。

Zeng Hui Fen along with Xiang Yun ARE the 'ah jie' of SBC during the mid 80s...the late 80s would be Chen Xiu Huan & Chen Liping.
