@johnstubbs2010 It will be a slow gradual process, but it seems quite simple to me. Land (space) is the source of all valuable resources. Fresh water, sunlight, soil (or nutrients to grow food), shelter. If the majority of ppl worldwide are able to have a sufficient piece of land (home) to tend and nurture, they themselves will be nurtured. I'm 27. A newly graduated nurse. My plan is to "buy" a 1/2 acre. Raise chickens, goats. Collect rainwater. Grow fruit/nut trees and a garden ..
@EvocativeOx It wont work. Where there are scarce resources you need a system in which to allocate them. I have no problem with picking holes in stuff but if you dont come up with a better alternative then its largely a waste of time.

@EvocativeOx What you are advocating is protectionism. It goes on now. The US slap overseas farmers with tariffs and subsidies their own.
The overseas farmers are much more efficient and can produce more with less resources, even if you include the cost of transport and distribution. However because of protectionist polices from govt the less efficient, more resource intensive products are cheaper. This result in an inefficient use of world resources.

I myself have always wondered about what type of system or way of life it would take to be able to survive , as a human race, in the coming centuries. Some of the ideas are okay, but to get rid of money is a step too much. And right now i think such a big step, would make more flaws than a fixes. We are not ready to do that and might never choose to be, because of the benefits from money (faster growth ect.). But one of the ideas i like is the way of making a resourcescann, and theirby dertermine the value of different materials. Combine this with a resouce-tax, and sellers are forced to make most out of what they have in order to make succes.

Rise tax, introduce an adapting concept to all educations which teach people to be "up to date", which will also be on their work. People should be prepared for a development in their profession. the series itself, besides the fact that you may not agree with all the contents. It does not take allot to see the truth in most of it. It was life changing for me, because of how apparent things really are in our current systems.
Although i don't agree with everything being said and doubt the validity of some other things, the subject is important. I like the fact its less conspiracy and more down to earth than the other versions of Zeitgeist. The message it seems to give is largely congruent to authors as Tim Kasser, Horkheimer, Adorno, and Erich Fromm who have adressed these issues, the latter one being my favorite philosopher. Fresh water, sunlight, soil (or nutrients to grow food), shelter. If the majority of ppl worldwide are able to have a sufficient piece of land (home) to tend and nurture, they themselves will be nurtured. I'm 27. A newly graduated nurse. My plan is to "buy" a 1/2 acre. Raise chickens, goats. Collect rainwater. Grow fruit/nut trees and a garden ..

@EvocativeOx What you are advocating is protectionism. It goes on now. The US slap overseas farmers with tariffs and subsidies their own.
The overseas farmers are much more efficient and can produce more with less resources, even if you include the cost of transport and distribution. However because of protectionist polices from govt the less efficient, more resource intensive products are cheaper. This result in an inefficient use of world resources.

I myself have always wondered about what type of system or way of life it would take to be able to survive , as a human race, in the coming centuries. As it stands now, we will have used up most of our resources well before that time and will probably circle around to being barbarians (ie. Conan, Mad Max, etc.). This movie has opened my mind more than any other before it. I've always known that money (and religion) is the root to all evil and this movie definitely has the same opinions. Awesome!

Some of the ideas are okay, but to get rid of money is a step too much. And right now i think such a big step, would make more flaws than a fixes. We are not ready to do that and might never choose to be, because of the benefits from money (faster growth ect.). But one of the ideas i like is the way of making a resourcescann, and theirby dertermine the value of different materials. Combine this with a resouce-tax, and sellers are forced to make most out of what they have in order to make succes.

@Crazyfrankie666 the answer is not going back to some ineffective, inefficient barter system. The answer is holding the govt and the banks to account. The apathy and ignorance of the American people has caused the global recession as they allowed successive govts to strip away regulation that kept banks and the corporates honest.

Even though i dont agree with all the conclusions that are drawn, it has some interessting perspectives on our current system. Yes, the system as it is now has a lot of flaws, that needs to be changed, and it is always great to see different creative ways of doing that. In the end we can then pick up the very best part of the idea's, and not the whole part, and if needed, ajust them and combine them to form a better system.
Without any idea's there is no moving forward.

Many people do not understand that money in the form of paper or coin is merely a means of standardizing & making trades more equitable. If you took every form of money away, people would still want to eat. This is accomplished through bartering for goods. You want a chicken dinner? I want my shoes polished & a new shirt made. Get it? Money makes this process easier. Take away the cash, but I'm still hungry.

@misskuni Peter makes an excellent statement when he says that people don't make money to live, they make money for money's sake. If you have your own place, your own car and a job, it's all anyone really needs.

@DarkHorse4U yaaa..thats what i dont get either, there would be no jobs, whats the point of...being a tailor if you dont get paid...i guess it depend on what the customer owns...if u want his chickens youll polish his shoes right? so either way people have to be rich in something to have anything..skills, plants, animals, materials, factories that process materials...either way someone will have a form of power because of what the own or can give you in return for what you have.

Although i don't agree with everything being said and doubt the validity of some other things, the subject is important. I like the fact its less conspiracy and more down to earth than the other versions of Zeitgeist. The message it seems to give is largely congruent to authors as Tim Kasser, Horkheimer, Adorno, and Erich Fromm who have adressed these issues, the latter one being my favorite philosopher. Thanks for the upload :)
