I think this dialect is called Mixteco Bajo. I am not certain on this fact. Do you you know what form you speak?

Disculpas. Te va sorprender que Espanol es mi tercer idioma. Naci hablando puro Mixteco. Luego de niño aprendi Ingles. En la casa hablamos Mixteco y Ingles. Me enseñe a mi mismo como leer, escribir, y hablar en Español.

Que idioma mas melodioso. Y que linda niña. Se nota que estas muy horgulloso de ella. Que bueno que estan manteniendo el idioma de sus antepasados vivo. A mi me hubiera encantado hablar el Maya Ch'ortí que es el de mis antepasados indigenas pero ya van muchas genraciones que mi familia lo perdió y hasta niegan su sangre índia hoy. Most languages as rich in nasalized vowels would be. I have encountered this phenomenon in French and Portuguese where any vowel preceeding an n or m is nasalized. It is still possible to make oneself understood in spite of the "plug". Is perfect pitch common among Mixtec speakers? Speakers of Thai, Mandarin and Yoruba (other tonal languages) are supposed to be very easily taught to have perfect pitch or already ahve it intrinsically. How many tones are there in your language?

You got me here. I am not familiar with the linguistic side of Mixteco. I understand that there exists a dictionary of Mixtecto but I do not know how to read it.

How did you become interested in linguistics? It sounds like you have an interest in languages.

Linguistics has been a hobby of mine for a long time. I can't remember a time when the subject didn't hold my keenest fascination. It is a great pity that you can't read that dictionary. My research has yielded that Mixtec has some 52 varieties in what's called a dialectal continuum. Yous tart at one place and the next village speaks a little different and you go farther and farther and people speak more differently until you get somewhere that can't understand village 1. Which do you speak?

I've been told we speak Mixteco Bajo. I have heard others that speak Mixteco Alto and the distinction is stark. It is very difficult to understand them.

My family is from close to Santiago Juxtlahuaca. I've met people that speak Triki at market day in Juxtla. They have an interesting language. I even have a video. I just need to find it.

Have you read or heard about the Codex Nuttal? It's an ancient Mixtec book about a great king of your people named 8deer Tiger's Claw in English. He lived five hundred years before the Spaniards came. A very interesting story.
