He`s a talent! It`s not perfect but he is young and I`m sure that he can be a great player in the future...sorry my bad english...greetings from switzerland
@0syntrax0 His decision as to dry pedalling is a legitimate artistic decision. I personally would use more pedal. Beethoven did not prescribe any pedalling which leaves the decision open.
It must feel so good to play all of it. And well. It is not played too fast, as I've read in the comments. Hear it played by Gould and you will see. Thanks for sharing your talent and that music.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It didnt look to hard to play, even for someone like me who has never played piano before. I decided to try. After an hour and a half of practice, I can now play the first 6 notes.
Thats because he makes it look simple and easy, but it's not. You have the music? Have you looked at it? Wow, first 6 notes. This piece is a good 6-8 pages. Congrats! Wow! You're way more talented then him, because it 'doesnt look hard to play'. A monkey could get the first 6 notes in a hour in a half. Post your own video when you can play this like he can, and maybe people won't think you're a douche. He did a fabulous job on this, and unless you can do the same, don't brag on how 'easy' it is.
Hello fellow pianist =) Pretty good job, but I feel it was a bit too harsh overall - the left hand was way too loud overpowering the beautiful melody at times, and a bit too rushed for my taste. He has a lot of talent, I would just really like to see him take his time more and bring out dynamics, rather than just play notes - I hope you know how I mean that. Hope things are going well =)
wow!!its so cool how you could play like that you should get regonized and lay in broadway shows and become famous this is just like beethiven =]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]==] super smileys!!
too much pressure on left (in overall too much pressure too) misusing in pedal it sounds like muddy left n right hands r not matched 0:34 mis touch omg i might write an essay to say mistakes on this video
If you play the Beethoven No8, I don.t understand why it should be boring. Beethoven's Sonatas are the most interesting and if well performed you can live the drama and make your own story, good luck and don't give up

Thanks for the comments. As you said it, it is not an easy one. For three months of rehersal, Gabriel did not have time to go over the details of the sonata along with the other two movements and a Rachmaninoff Etude. he focused more on the notes and get it over with it. As of now, he has grown a lot more musically.
Thanks, what about the Legendary "Andre Watts" who appeared on TV accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Leonard Bernstain when he was 14 years old in the mid 1960's, Now you have young fellows such as Cambry and many otheyoung pianists out there. By the way, to be more specific, Gabriel is Afro Brazilian-Peruvian American

Very good technique, but personally I miss a bit of emotion... and through some parts he is rushing too much... nevertheless, very nice, thank you for this video. If you want to improve yourself, maybe you should watch at Kempff's interpretation.
excellent from a technical interpitation! This piece would be greatly improved my more sudden dynamic changes which would help add color to the performance. Also in most editions are very distinct tempo markings giving which alows us to not feel an overal rushing effect through the entire movement. Also being more aware of where the start and end of a phrase are and deciding on a tempo for every time it appears will help give it some uniforimity. Anyways great job i really enjoy your playing !
A lovely piece. It seems, however, that his fingers are working ahead of his brain. Especially the left hand. Also there is no tension in his fingers; it gives the piece a tired feeling. Slow, careful practice would fix that relatively quikly.

Nice job! Don't listen to the others who critize too much. This Sonata - as most if not all of Beethoven's - is difficult but very nice. Not everybody needs to be the same as Claudio Arrau or Alfred Brendel. Keep on playing your piano! It is gratifying and keep on uploading your performances. Thanks.
La tecnica ce l'hai, devi però curare un pò di più il suono e andare leggermente più lento, in fondo non è un presto agitato ma un allegretto
