On the other hand, I guess I should give the guy credit for going to those lengths to play as tight a set each night as he can, whether he's playing bass drums or not. There is the argument of 'the technology is there. Use it.' I guess I'm just a bit old fashioned.

To answer your first question, I do like to play a TTFAF. I do well at it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see triggers anywhere. I see pedals that haven't been attached to the kit yet while he's running us through what setup he uses. The fact also that he doesn't mention using kick triggers really baffles me. I paused it at 3:31, you can clearly see that the pedals aren't set up.

Right, when I'm sure this is what he does, he blows my mind. I watched a sound-test where he played Revelations and he played all 200bpm of it heel-up. 16ths and all o_o .. I really don't understand Dave. He's a very mysterious percussionist.

it seems the troggers are a Yamaha models my friend used to have, and you ca see the beater going downto the floor level and not hitting the bass drum.

the video is recorded by a cam so if he hits the bass drum you would se the actual sound of them, but....
