  • Anybody knows if there are laws to do with suing the hospitals or doctors for that matter as this should be away of dealing with this menace once and for all

  • I had a younger sister - 20 yrs old - die of a stomach ulcer at Moi Teaching and Referal Hospital in 2006 after being neglected for 2 days by the doctors. The government has to do something about this menace.

  • They should put them in jail.

  • Ah doctors in kenya are useless, they then scram into exile and end up driving taxis overseas and then wonder why

  • Juzi I almost stabbed a young doctor with a needle he had used to jab my child. He gave my child the wrong medicine. Thankfully, it was harmless. First class idiots!

  • MWAFRIKA!!!!

  • this Doctors should be fired . they have crazy explanations . "the patients don't get the kind of results they are looking for"

  • That is why the MPS and the HAVES leave Kenya to go elsewhere for treatment. I am sure the Board is made up of Doctors. Until these quacks are held accountable, no sick person is safe in Kenya.

  • Such a poor poor child. I'm very tearful at this.

    Motse in Botswana.

  • Looking for a positive thing here......er, er, er, Bingo! China Road and Bridge is doing a great job of building roads. Phew... that was close. I'm just tired of all the negative stuff happening in my country every single day... Beth Mugo and the erstwhile Anyang Nyongo need to be Nyongo-wad for like 5 minutes.....

  • Doctors in Kenya enjoy unchallenged power in the same footing as politicians allowing impunity in this field to run deep also. I can guarantee that a very substantial number of deaths that happen in KNH are as a result of gross neglect and misconduct. If only there is credible body that can investigate the number of suspect deaths including one very close to me. They must be accountable to the public first and foremost not their employers.

  • @MzeeMoja1 Doctors do not have all the answers to life and death.. Some of the premises of medical practise is based on theory only.. So without being emotional, Please define negligence... (Sorry about your loss)

  • @strangeomi It is not a question having answers to life and death. We both know they don't have answers to this. It's a question of doing what they are supposed to do. A doctor is supposed to treat a patient and if they can't do it, then refer to a specialist. Neglegence in this context is the failure of these doctors to exercise the responsibilities bestowed upon them to provide medical care to patients. If you want to see a better example, scroll down on these videos and watch a dying girl.

  • @MzeeMoja1 .. Thanks for your response.. My problem as a medic personally is the lack of proper research of these stories, the reason why the medical Board rarely find 'negligence' in the investigations is the one-sidedness of the media reporting.. They are the negligent ones.. KNH has all the top specialists in the Country, but sometimes, things go wrong, that should come out clearly in the news report, for people to make informed opinions not based on emotions and media sensationalism..

  • @strangeomi I can see where you're coming from. However sensationalism would be the case if this was hyped or over-reported. But as you can see, the address here is on a matter which is seen to be on the rise. On matters such as this one, we cannot begin to attack the media for bringing these stories forth in the same way we cannot attack it for exposing police executions. This is because because the real topic here is messing with human life, and asking why some people get away with it.

  • @MzeeMoja1 .. I agree, but unfortunately, it really hurts me when I give away my entire life yet all the focus is when things go wrong which will always happen in our profession.. Once I was the only senior Doc at a District hospital while in Kenya responding to ALL emergencies for a whole month without rest or holiday.. It is demoralising for efforts going by the side-way when rare events happen. Some not even substantiated..

  • @strangeomi Your answer is exactly why things go wrong.Mistakes do happen, yes, but it's what you do about it that matters. So explain to me doctor, how does inserting an I.V kill anyone. Is it possible that the niddle was contaminated,or flushed with microbials? Doctors in kenya need to stop playing like they are some kind of god.You can have all the degrees, but if you cannot solve or in this case treat, then the degree is/are good for nothing. There are good doctors in kenya, but no supervasion

  • @smithlovekenya You are right.. I totally agree.. Realised this when I went abroad.. The knowledge base we have is good but we are handicapped in terms of facility at our disposal, and the checks are few in Kenya so we are bound to be complacent.. But as a member of the public, you should also be knowledgable on your own medical health. It keeps the Doctor in check and carefull.. But never underestimate your doctor.. Cheers

  • @strangeomi Am glad that you can see my point. However, while patient should be knowledgable with their medical health, the lay man might not have access to such information. Only peopel with computers or with medical background can be put in such a position. You as a doctor has an oblagation to your cleint to educate and provide necessary information about their disease process. The patient cannot diagnise themselves remember. Again there are few good doctors out there. Patient first-cheers

  • @smithlovekenya Most doctors are good in my obviously biased opinion.. Only thing is maybe our public relation may not be up to scratch because it is not taught in med school.. And also the notion that anyone in the hospital who is not a nurse is a 'doctor'? Maybe that is where the knowledge should start..

  • Medical terrorists!!!! Who certifies all those butchers pretending to be surgeons?? Such a sad story.

  • Be serious in reporting... Find the actual facts and not the emotional sensational information that alienate someone else's profession.. For the simple reason that, when journalists like you malign individuals no one can put you on the spot light.. Just like the Post Election Violence.. You in the media started it.. By claiming victory of one party before official results were in...

  • @strangeomi I would not shoot the messenger

  • @matts6894 .. I agree.. I'm just disappointed.. 1. that it is 'happening' to our people, and 2. How it is reported.. that's all..
