  • I SEARCHED NIGGA MAN

  • the guy singing was the voice of hong kong phooey.

  • never knew this dude was so angry...Im used to him playing a good guy. Not that Im complaining, great song.

  • written by Ralph Bakshi - the genius ... performed by another genius - Scatman....

  • Go Scatman Go !!!

  • WALK ON NIGGAS WALK ON!!!!

  • Such a great movie with a message that went over 90% of peoples' heads. Scatman was incredible in anything he touched, the preacher was awesome and Barry White was great too. Would never get made today! Bakshi's animation is multi-layered, technicolored, simultaneously sad and brilliant--- perfect as usual.

  • @houseofgogo I think most people got it. It was really just Al Sharpton and his followers who had such a problem. Unfortunately, they were loud enough to drown this movie out into obscurity. BUT: Apparently it's about to have its first official DVD release. Maybe there is hope for the world after all!

  • @LiveFromWonderland OH YES, it's been released for a while now and you best get a copy just in case because releases can come and go (case in point Ken Russell's Salome). I'd hate to have you miss out on having this in yr collection. Digital does have it's benefits and some things are now avail in the ether on Netflix (case in point Ken Russell's Salome). Happy Holidays Wonderland, treat yrself

  • Hong Kong Phooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey scatman Jack Nicolson will get the devil out of you with his battle axe haha

  • Such a good song

  • I GOT THE DEVIL IN ME!!!!!!

  • I seen Sean Price @this on twitter, this song is evident! My fam visited me one day, complainin about wanting to walk home, and being to tired too. I felt the need to put him on to this song. So while playing this tune to him, he was Not feeling it, and Scatman sang; walk on nigger walk on, walk on nigger walk on. LIFE...

  • For some reason, I like this rougher, more static-touched version the most. Weird.

  • I think the message of the song is that black man has accepted and grasped the stereotype bestowed on him by white society but also gives the black man a sense of identity at a time when he was just seen as a black man and nothing more. It clearly defines the era it was written which was when racial segregation and bigotry was so prevalent in American society.

  • @godstomper

Part of me wants to agree with you and acknowledge your profound insight, the other part wants to say stfu , you're not the only person who's taken a womens studies class d-bag, kill yourself!!!

    either way scatman was talented.

  • @TheRipcity22 I never took a woman's studies class.

  • @godstomper

Cool... way to shatter my presupposition, asshole.

  • @TheRipcity22 You don't have to be a dick .

  • @godstomper

The tone of my comment was meant to be sarcastic, no offense intended.

  • @godstomper

u just saved urself money and time...your smart! congrats!

  • i am OBSSESSED with this song...much love

  • i love rotoscoping

  • Lol. I got this movie for Christmas 2010.

  • is secure to say nigger here?

  • @RYUUZAKY182 ...only fo us

  • @RYUUZAKY182 yes!!!!!

  • Appartently this song has received too many negative reviews... what it mentions nigger so what. its a satire and critique of how the white man *sorry about that* has literally shit on the black man. I guess in order for it to receive good reviews it has to have 50 Cent with a big fancy car and a ... white girl behind him in order to receieve a good review ... seriously people....

  • @HamSTAR1986 Huzzah.

  • @HamSTAR1986 I hear that, anything that highlights true black history and not materialism/misogyny and the further distortion of black culture is largely dismissed in current times

  • If you think this song is racist then you dont get it! This song is a critique of racism and the attitudes in the U.S towards african american men.

  • 1:09 to 1:13

I have never in my life heard such passion as I heard in these four seconds.

  • That's some amazing passion. Fuck if this hasn't become my new favorite song.

  • Powerful performance. Scatman Crothers was an underrated motherfucker.

  • you can hear the acid in his voice, someday you aint gonna be pulling my strings, someday ill be the one smilin behind that desk. us white people are dicks.

  • scatman rules the roost! love this song

  • Scatman is awesome ..... more soul than anyone I've ever seen! Very few people could pull this one off but it's so entertaining I don't think the lyrics offend anyone.

  • Scatman Crothers, an exceptional artist and inspiration to many people of all races in his time.

  • dude's got the shinning.

  • Great song. This movie was way ahead of its time for sure. Bakshi is one of my favorite animators as well.

  • Thank You For Posting;

CoonSkin is another great piece of work from Bakshi. The Best!

    Cheers!

  • Thanks for putting this up. I love this song. The more politically correct would call me racist, but I see the satire and social commentary in the lyrics.

Scatman Crothers is a damn good singer, and I love his voice when it comes to voice acting.

    Two thumbs up to you.

  • @CartoonFan56 Agreed. Absolutely brilliant song because he's not singing the lyrics from his own perspective, he is singing about the oppression of African American culture from the perspective of an external culture. I dont think he would be calling himself a shoe-shine man and such if he were singing about himself.

  • @CartoonFan56 You know, when you preface your statement with "Hey call me a racist" chances are you might be or maybe you're just an insensitive asshole. I'm not saying you're racist for liking this song but I take issue with people who have a problem with political correctness; you forget such things are necessary to keep the rampant racism that festers in American society. I would much rather live in a politically correct society rather than the institutional racism that existed decades ago.
