Probably because NBC traditionally had a habit of "signing off" after "THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON" ended at 1am(et), 'Will'. You can be sure WNBC-TV in New York stayed on throughout the rest of the night, until the network signed on again [they usually began their Saturday morning schedule at 10am, but went on earlier, for obvious reasons].

@keno8spot You obviously haven't even READ the Warren Commission and House reports, have you? Every pathologist who's seen the autopsy photos says they're genuine and both bullets came from behind. That's consistent with the Zapruder film and Zapruder's verbal description. The Parkland doctors were not pathologists. They only worked on JFK for 22 minutes to save his life, never turning him over, and most still described the big wound on the right side of his head. The rest are simply wrong.

McGee told viewers there was no way to calculate all the words that had been uttered that day about this horrible event, and added that none could sufficiently explain the depth of the sorrow that each of the viewers themselves were feeling. Then he said, "I suppose the answer for that lies in the heart of each of us." Then he struggled to regain his composure, and closed with the remarks I noted in my previous post. And his remarks in the early morning hours on November 23rd, after having been on the air for 12 hours, are some of the most eloquent ever uttered by a newsman. This clip ends just short of those remarks, but after telling the viewers that the horror and sadness of this day would never be forgotten, McGee regained his composure just long enough to close by saying "November 22, 1963. Into the history books, marked with the blackness of this day, indeed."

The paraffin test for Oswald's cheek was negative. It is impossible for a person to fire a firearm without traces being left on the face. Oswald got the screws put to him. There is no way one person pulled off the assassination by themself. It's a travesty that the Warren Commission report has allowed to be held up by the media. Dan Rather and Tom Brokaw still describe Oswald as the assassin, not the "alleged" assassin. Kennedy's murder is still unsolved, it's still an open case as is Tippit's.

The speed with which Oswald was arrested and charged makes me very suspicious. Neither the fact that he (allegedly) had "connections to left-wing causes" nor that he had a Russian wife necessarily mean that he was guilty. Neither of those two facts imply criminality. Clearly, the pressure to find the assassin(s) was huge in the hours following the killing, and Oswald appears to have the ideal "profile" in certain minds. But he may well have been innocent.

Yes, very suspicious how the police and FBI pursued no ther avenue than Oswald as the assassin. I agree being left wing or left leaning should not have been relevant but such was the mindset in the early '60's,the cold war at it's most paranoid stage.The powers who covered up the truth may have thought they were helping America but it was/is still criminal. In the grander scheme of things they did much more harm than good, to Kennedy,Tippit and Oswald and to the public at large.

@kcsunshine64 right on....negative paraffin tests are just one part...the fake secret service men on top of the grassy knoll who were shooing people away from the area of the railroad yards tells us something as well. Why were people with fake secret service ID there unless it was to protect the real assassins? We know they were fakes because all the secret service personnel immediately went to Parkland Hospital. Some came back 20-30 min later but none there at that time!
