Yeah, amazing how at that time their (MAW) minimum fee was £15,000 for a remix. MK has created a version of this that's nothing short of delicious. I will never tire of this and that piano sends shivers :-)
I cannot tell you how many times I've played this MK mix over the years. MK did lots of stunning remixes/dubs over the years, but I think he really outdid himself here - he managed to do the impossible: take a MAW original track, completely overhaul it, and take it into deeper/darker underground house territory. Genius mix. Takes you back to 1992 era when house was king.
If the music industry pushed for more music like this to hit the airwaves, the world would be at peace. Just beautifull house music is. Like a voice over on a track said, "it's a spiritual thing". To those 2 who disliked this, you must be devil worshippers.
@grinkale dude i wish music like this is never ever pushed on commercial radio and tv, it would ruin everything. good music requires the listener to make the effort and find out about the music, unlike commercial music today which its shoved in your face at every chance. keep the underground alive!
i remember house mUsik back in the day when i was in middle skool in 1992 house musik was and still is the shiit, i stay in L.A. and this radio station by the name of Power-106 used to play house musik all day/do these live mixes it was the bomb!
...ALL my late 80's and 90's poeople ravers peace to yall and by far we witnessed of musik evolution-part of hystory......best decades!
@subclonk You're right !!! I had to pull out the 12" for it and look at the date that I purchased it !!! ( I used to write the purchase date inside the jacket !!!
I love reading these comments... It's cool how this remix had such a huge effect on us as kids... Check this one out... Keep The Promise (MK Mix)"... One of my middle school favorites. Classic MK all day.
OHHHH, I LOVE this cut. Reminds me SO much of Ken Collier in Detoit @ Heaven back in the day (1990-91). The queens use to love kicking and splitting of this track. HA!
I will never forget when I first heard this... I actually got a chill in my spine... This track brings back some great memories !!! I Masters at Work and MK.... great combo !!!
@ISBAILEYDEADYET - I agree totally. I'm just listening to this once again... Wow, its the strings, the bass, the way the voice comes in and out and the simple 4/4 drum line. But I think its the way the strings and voice have been laid down on this. He was something else to House music at this time of his career. Maybe he didn't realise it at the time but he was such a breath of fresh air to the Music. Mk, Maw, Kerri and Blze were making some seriously good music at this time. But Mk thanks man!
Forgot all about this track until now - absolutely loved this back in the day and still sounds brilliant now. A really clever remix. Put MK on the map.
Anyone seen any posts by Mark "Mk" Kinchen on these posts before? Has he ever joined in?
Just listened to this track again. Wow, its so so good. I wish he would come back and make tracks like this again (Mark "Mk" Kinchen). And remember originally it was a Masters at Work tune to start of with!
elephant and castle pub, poolside at epping followed by the jungle - back into town to visit heaven or the gas club. The village to finish. Browns wed limelight/gardening club/trade on the thur. sunbathing at hyde park in between. What a way to live. BRILLIANT
There are so many things to love in this remix that he did for Masters at Work. The Piano work, the strings that come in out of this tune, the sampled voices that he uses that are soulful and funky, the funky bass line that is incoporated, and the simple House drum beat that makes this great to listen to or dance to. Take your pick. One of one Mark "Mk" Kinchen best ever mixes that he has done so far in his career. If you ever read this Mark "Mk" Kinchen, we all take our hats of to you. Well done
Everyone loved Mark "Mk" Kinchen. He had hits way before this, but this one was the one that you allowed a wider audience to fall in love with what he was doing. Either via the club dj's all around the country (England) now fully engrossed into his remixes, pirate radio shows in london (Going Mk crazy), or hearing his songs within the nightclubs within the Tv show (Here in England) called "Hit man & Her". He will always be remembered within House and Garage music. Thanks Mk for this remix!
First heard this when Julian Jonah did a guest mix on Judge Jules show in 1993. He played this and Uncanny Alliance-Got my education which were new back then.
It was that year that house trance and everything else did a split in London. Judge Jules went and did his thing and the rest of us kept the faith with our love of New York/New Jersey/Chi-town and London house music.
Jesus Christ, this brings a tear to my eye.
