At the end of every video now, a FORCED annotation pops up by the Subscribe button. That's right. Also for HD videos you get 'Watch in HD'. You can't turn these off. They're small but annoying in their own way.
The general public (soccer moms and children) somehow have the patience to ignore even the worse cases of annotations. It's like they have no consciousness when they're online enough to even care about it. YouTube feeds on these people and thus no matter what we say, it stays

But when its a music video or something less personal like a movie or tv clip, and its the only one available, it pisses me off, and takes away from the entire video. worse idea on youtube ever, even more so than the annoying ads

Agree 100%. I've even seen people go so far as to do fullscreen annotations that take up the whole screen or try to 'sabotage' their vids with longwinded rants at commenters. Annotation abuse results in an immediate 1 star rating for me, personally. The info column is there for a reason. Don't ruin everyone's fun!
