it is quite big to be carried around, and i dont think you can use it on you lap, as there are loads of ventilation going on at the bottom. But if you really are using as a desktop replacement, this is a really great maschine! I would reccomend that you save you money and buy the 2x 280GTX rather than the 8GB ram. the 260's are way to weaker
