Congressman Allen West On Running For President

Experience is a good thing. But what will the U.S. be like if Obama is elected for a second term? And if a republican is elected, that will mean it will be even longer before Allen can run for president. It's a tough decision, but I think Mr West should run.

They are going to accuse him of all sorts of thingsbut we can make things easier for him. Spread the dvd "The Third Jihad" and the books "The Third Choice" by Mark Durie and "America Alone" by Mark Steyn. The clock is ticking.

Ike Eisenhower, generally regarded as one of the best presidents of the last century [many say better than Reagan], served not a single day in Congress. The people were fed up with career politicians, and wanted someone with proven LEADERSHIP ability.

Although Allen West will have only 2 years in Congress by 2012, he developed his leadership ability in a military career spanning 22 years of service, including SIX tours of duty in the Middle-East.

My reasons for voting yes to Patriot Act extension by Allen West

1- Several of the 911 terrorists used public computers to review their September 11th plane tickets- ( this happened in the very district I represent- so this is personal to me)

2- Without roving wiretap authority, investigators would be forced to seek a new court order each time they need to change the location, phone or computer that needs to be monitored. Terrorists and foreign spies use multiple communications devices to evade detection.

I care about this country and this all comes down to protecting us from a REAL enemy that has found a new battleground: The United States. Law abiding citizens liberties will be respected.

@PnutGalry - I respectfully disagree. The Patriot Act is the same as Hitler's Enabler Act - Almost word for word. TSA is doing a great job - don't you think! NOT!

Admittedly I have had problems with the Patriot Act, but trusted President Bush not to abuse it, which he did not. Unfortunately, I do not have that same confidence with the current occupant, but I do trust LTC West.

And no, TSA is not doing a good job.

2 things...we live in far different times with technology as it is than during the reign of Hitler.

I appreciate West telling us exactly why he voted the way he did.

@PnutGalry - Once again I respectfully disagree. If you read the Patriot Act and its Sections - It clearly violates my 4th Amendment and I will never go along willingly!

As a Constitutional Conservative and Tea Party member - I will never vote for anyone that has zero respect for the Constitution. The Patriot Act not only violates my rights - It also gives Government of the Left/Right Paradigm to much power. They are not my lords!

P.S. I have decades of paralegal experience and am familiar with constitutional law. Although there is some merit in your reasons for disagreement with West's position, there are so many other areas where Obama has shown ZERO respect for the Constitution that there is no comparison.

I admired West until he voted to extend the Patriot Act; the same with Bachman. Sorry, there is no compromise with me when it comes to the Constitution. Looks like I'm Writing-In my candidate.

@soetebeer you need to refresh your memory a little bit. Allen West voted No to the Patriot Act Extension. He voted Yes for the 90 day extension, but voted no on the 4 year extension. Are you ready to retract your statment.

2016 will be awesome. I respect his past military service which makes him FAR more qualified for POTUS than the man sitting in the Oval Office now but I respect that he wants to establish himself as a politician and as a leader some more before making such a decision. That said, I hope whoever does get the nomination tries to recruit this guy as VP. Having him as a tie breaking vote in the Senate would be handy.
