I dont think it was a gun, it could have been but the bangs were far to fast, sounded like someone smaking the hook or something very fast. Anyway he wasnt interested in the people altho i reckon if one got infront of him and his little miss flirty called chase me daddy, he would have chomped um :)

Most animals give signs before they attack thats why they go in open jeeps!!!! Rangers all know the signs and know what to do in that kind of situation!!!! I work at a lodge in South Africa! I work with rangers every day!!!! And thats why you heard that banging noise! It's the ranger and or the tracker making noise to warn the lion!!!!
@Gemini777ful I don't agree with you there. Rangers don't know all the signs thats why accidents still happen in national parks. The ranger driving that jeep was very foolish to have the jeep right on the edge of the fence in such close proximity of mating lions. A mating lion is probably the most treacherous animal anyone would be foolish enough to get close to. A very luck escape.

how in the world do these people just sit in an open jeep and roam around with lions just a few feet away from them??!!!...unbelievable!!....its like throwing yourself as free meat for the lions.
that was quite an experience ... i guess they lion didn't care off the ppl, but when he's charging, he might stumble upon them ... and that is a problem !!! lucky
