the easiest ways to kill it are

1.Wait for it to charge then you can either run backwards till he lifts his shield then shoot him or dodge then shoot him

all shots directed at orange skin

Dont waste assault rifle ammo on hunters, if you have a pistol and 1 bullet handy, then get your way around the hunter and shoot at the orange area on its back, killing it in one shot. On legendary, it may take a coulpe of shots.

wtf dude, the easiest way is with a pistol or sniper rifle, even in legendary that won't take more than 3 shots in the back, and in halo 2 the are harder to kill but u can use the sniper too that works for me

...this is the... um... boring way to kill a hunter. You have to back up with the pistol aand when it goes to melee u, and it raises it shield, shoot the orange. OR... throw a plasma nade at it's head and it will turn around when it explodes and then u shoot it in the back

I prefer to just catch them off guard, while they're not hunched over. Much larger targets and for that moment, they aren't try to kill you. Meleeing them is fun though. Such as having to bean one over the head until it dies. Ran out of ammo on it's twin.

This is fine but I like to conserve ammo. I prefer the sniper rifle and hitting the orange areas. Another fun way to throw one of those sticky grenades at it. For some reason, it is relatively easy get them to land on the orange bits.
