@maxpin63 As beautiful as it was, it was also unsafe. The High Line was basically ruins... and therefore deteriorating. In order to make it safe, and prevent lawsuits, they had to renovate it. So, yes it is sad, but atleast it wasn't taken down completely.
I've heard about High Line, now I've seen it, thanks to this video. I'm headed for NY soon, will be sure to visit it. Thanks for the interesting story.

They need to so this to the Reading Elevated Line in downtown Philadelphia. It's huge and been abandoned for years just like this.

A really great idea, and it must be a fantastic place to walk through.
It does seem a bit overdeveloped, though.
I liked it better when it was just old train tracks and weeds.
