  • John Williams > Hans Zimmer

Zimmers music only tries to dwell on the huge scale of a film but Williams and Giacchino achieve emotional aspects and every other aspect very well. Also, Williams doesnt use overload on technology to get work done -____-

  • classic spielbergian film...

  • I can't stand Hans Zimmer.

  • @Stefandurrr um, random!?

  • Michael Giacchino is the new John Williams!

  • @CarlosPaez7 the film the boys used to make their movie is called "Super 8" film and was a small reel of film from the time the actual film is set in :)

  • There's lens flare even in the poster.....oh JJ!

  • @antiigravity Fuck up cunt, this movie was amazing and you know it.

  • Gorgeous. Nostalgic and whimsical. Why do I feel like it's not in the movie though? Does anyone remember any scene(s) featuring this song?

  • great movie..thumps up

  • como la pelicula es un autohomenaje de spielberg giacchino opto por hacercelo a John Williams y le quedo fantastico Giacchino crece y si es el sucesor nato de Williams, buen trabajo

  • The sountrack just came out. Hoping for a vinyl release. Anyone know where I can get it for free?

  • hey can anyone tell me wat the main instrument is i feel stupid

  • Modern Version Of ET

  • Are you guys seriously arguing over the release of the score? LMAO

  • The beginning part of this track is actually called 'We'll Fix It In Post-Haste'

  • Love this score and the movie. Best film of the summer so far and I think it'll come out being the best film of the summer even by the end of August.

  • it's out on iTunes NOW.

  • the full score comes out July 12

  • @tvavle88 No it doesn't, it comes out JULY 26th, dickwad. Quite spreading false info, dickwad.

  • @PatriotsLOSERSLMAO That was what it was before July 12 when it was changed to July 26th,dickwad.So he was wrong but right when it was suppose to comeout July 12 but changed to 26,dickwad.

  • @ridely700 nobody cares anymore dickwad. that is, except you. dickwad.

  • @PatriotsLOSERSLMAO No wait, your wrong and so am i.Its already out on Itunes

  • I LOVE this music

    it's perfect :)

  • Hans zimmer's music is epic and gives me chills, but Michael Giacchino's scores always have this refreshing sound.

  • This soundtrack is VERY similar to John Williams' "Hook" score. In some places it sounds like all they did was change a few notes around. I noticed this in the theater right away.

  • I am really anxious to see the release of the complete Super 8 sound track album both on cd and available here on you tube.Other scores such as Harry Potter are already available on various you tube channels !! What is up with that.!?

  • last part of movie had me balling.. my mom died when i was young and it was just like my father and I at the end.

  • The movie was great but I think it actually could have been "sweeter" if they changed one thing: The ship only needs one more piece in order for it to work and it is missing and the boy has the last piece, he gives it to the alien in the cave and it uses it to complete the ship so it can take off instead of the alien suddenly having the ability to build the ship when it is cornered. Other than that, I think that this movie is a modern classic.

  • @goldAUsilverAG u fail.....the locket got sucked away from joe, joe refused to release it at first but releases it as the creature released him in the cave...u prob wiki'd it

  • @Shanor909 Nope. I have actually seen the movie twice. I was just saying that that would have made the movie better had the locket been exchanged for the piece of the spaceship part. The piece of the ship did play a nice role when it was sucked through the wall and revealed the water tower (allowing for some foreshadowing) but it could have played a better role. Sorry for the confusion though, I guess you just didn't get it.

  • @Shanor909 oh and the message of letting go as well ;) not being rude man, seriously haha

  • @Shanor909 The locket scene at the end symbolizes how Joe is putting the death of his mother behind him and moves on, like how the alien moves on and puts the past behind him. Before that scene Alice Dainard's father, Louis Dainard, apologizes to Jack Lamb about the accident and tells him that he only came to the funeral that day to apologize about all of the things he had done. Jack then accepts Louis' apology and moves on. Everyone moves on and puts the pat behind them in the end. Get it?

  • @ashtonmadhatter what it this? To Kill A Mockingbird?

  • @ashtonmadhatter lost much?

  • An homage to a genre style of film long since dead? Oh you mean joyful films with soul. Yeah they disappeared around 2000.

  • if this was the theme that what was taht song the was playing when everyone was watching the ship fly away?

  • Great masterpiece, Giacchino is a genius! And movie is awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • This movie was awesome. The ending was a bit bland, but the haters are gonna hate. They cant make a better movie nor even be better then Spielberg or Abrams

  • In my case I just couldn't feel what the characters were feeling. There wasn't any real emotional core to this movie. And the plot isn't that dramatic. I stay with ET. THAT'S a piece of art. But this... I give it a 2/5. Till now, best summer movie I've seen has been X-Men First Class. I was excited to c this one because I love Stevens and Abrams flicks but I was turned down. :(

  • Such a great score for such a terrible movie.

  • @mikewill9511 what do you consider a great movie?

  • @DAVYJONES78945 Great acting (which this one had), great screenplay, awesome soundtrack (this one also has that) and most of all a perfectly paced and labored plot. This one had all three but the fourth was... ehh. They could've made a much better film I guess. The ending was horrible. I felt no connection with no one whatsoever. It's just that, the monster didn't get that much time onscreen, the only child which I could've grown in love with was the one played by Joel Courtney. :) ET=BEST.

  • @mikewill9511 So what your saying is that the movie had great acting, a good screenplay and an awesome soundtrack but the ending dissapointed you. How could you ever say that the movie was terrible just because of the ending. If you want to criticize a movie, you have to look at everything about it. Trust me, I would know. I live and breath movies and know pretty much everything about them and I have to say, this movie was the best of the year so far. It was wonderful!

  • I saw this wonderful movie(No really its just plain awesome)on monday, june 20, and i have never been so excited to see a movie than i was for this one.I was humming the theme after i got out of the theater. This movie was the best i ever saw.The whole movie had a very wonderful story which made it feel like close encounters and ET.Some parts made me jump but other than that this movie is just plain awesome.Watch it if you can.I give this movie 55555555/5

  • AWESOME MOVIE!!!

  • Magical.

  • whats the title of the song at the end when the alien got to hes ship and fly??

  • At what point in the movie does this play?

  • Comment removed

  • @patforbel When Joe and Charles go on bikes in photo shop

  • It c0mes out July 12th, that's what it says on Amazon.com

  • this is totally not the full song. but i love this movie... it is wayy better than all of the CRAP that has been playing lately.

  • Even the poster has lens flare, oh JJ.

  • @countchunkula haha i thought i was the only one that noticed =]

  • @countchunkula oh I LOVE his lens flares xDD

  • @countchunkula

    Hah, great comment.

  • @countchunkula EXACTLY What I want to say :P

  • suoer 8 was the camera that they used to film there zombie movie just found that out

  • @NaomiLove12 Its not the camera, its the type of film used in the camera

  • this is ET all over again.....and what did super 8 stand for in the movie?

  • @J4WS1 the film is called super 8 film. ya know, the old fashioned type of film that was played with a projector.

  • @dodo545545 i kind of figured but i couldnt remember

  • This can make even a football jock's imagination run crazy. Michael Giacchino is amazing.

  • they need to hurry up and release the soundtrack...the piece at the very end as the ship was flying away...i need that song.

  • One of my all time favourite films, I saw it today, such a shame the soundtrack isnt out yet, but it gives me something to look forward to. it was nice for a big budget film to focus on what's important, the characters. I teared up at some parts of it. It gets a 10/10 from me and I think I'll probably go and see it again soon.

  • Michael is a genuis in creating the kind of music that digs deep into your soul and never lets go. From music from lost, up, star trek, and now super 8, his music is immensely emotional!!

  • The theme reminds me of Unbreakable

  • @magicman205 I really want that part of the score, too!

  • Anybody have the score that is played during the locket scene in the end?

  • It reminded me of The Goonies.

  • @fabian5002 Me too! That and E.T.!

  • This actually reminds me a little of James Horner more than John Williams. Thankfully, the good version of James Horner (i.e. around the 1980s).

  • where can i find the rest of the score? it's not on itunes ): (the only soundtrack available is the one compiled of various artists)

  • @hallebotube The soundtrack is not out yet :)

  • @michaelmoviemaker oh! okay. thank you (: definitely going to order it once it comes out. so goooooood.

  • @michaelmoviemaker Do you know when it comes out? I'm reading June 28, but I'm not sure. Thanks for the awesome video, though! I listen to this on endless loop now and then, and it all started after watching the amazing movie :)

  • @michaelmoviemaker It should be on amazon July 12th.

  • @hallebotube Yeah, the soundtrack will be released on the 28th of June if I'm not mistaken.

  • @hallebotube The soundtrack is coming out july 12!and DVD version some where in october or november

  • @hallebotube Its on itunes now

  • @hallebotube The soundtrack has been released, in case you didn't know already.

  • Amazing. I mean no one can replace John Williams ET score, but Giacchino has just enough potential to carry on Williams charisma and power through film music. I'd pick him anyday over Hans Zimmer

  • You know that felling when you say 'Man, I miss the good old days'? You're about to get your last chance.

  • @ActionMovieBuff hey man whats up :) I agree

  • @davedirector7 Sup, seeing this in a few hours!

  • I really love the music the movie opens with and is associated with joe's mother's locket. Definitely post that song!

  • cant wait to get baked to see this

  • Came close to a screening tonight in Hollywood, but didnt make it. I love this theme, it has a sense of nostalgia of the 70s and the roots of Spielberg's earlier films like Closer Encounters and ET. What a great year to be a film lover. Its JJs film yes but it just feels like Spielberg's film, its a win win either way.

  • Why is this available in 1080 and 720?

To those below, LOST had a "bigger" soundtrack than many films

  • @BubbaCoop Weird. Did not see that lol. :P

  • @BubbaCoop Couln't agree more. Lost had an amazing soundtrack :))

  • this movie reminds me when i was growing up in the 80s watching movies look explorer's mac and so many others wish they made more movies like this and music is awesome it just puts my mind at ease. i just might even get the soundtrack too:)

  • Can't even tell you how excited I am for this. Come to think of it, I actually can: I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS.

  • The strings are amazing

  • i miss these huge films that have great epic scores such as this one.

  • @shakthemighty Me too!

  • Definately has the Spielberg touch.

  • @stevelovescoolwhip lol you mean the John Williams touch. Spielberg doesn't compose. :D

  • @MrDetwaa lol yeah my bad

  • I love it! It sounds as if Michael Giacchino and John Williams put their heads together to create it. This type of score is gonna give it the feeling of a real 70's Ambln film. The second part just brings the image of the last 20 minutes of Close Encounters to my mind.

  • @indyfan210 Dude Star Trek had a huge Williams feel to it, this guy is good at scoring man i tell ya!!!

  • @indyfan210 yeah sounds like et in a way near the end

  • @indyfan210 Agreed. This soundtrack also reminded me of E.T.

  • Of all film genres, family films seem to be the most cliche.
