I loved that this Megadrive/Genesis only sequel really captures the feel of the Golden Axe world using call backs to the characters and musical themes of the original while not simply re-using the graphics and tunes. (The third one, while a slightly deeper game experience didn't really manage to feel like Golden Axe in the way that this game did). I think the controls in this were a little looser too which was nice, allowing the player slightly faster overall movement and attacks. Great sequel!

For me, the original Golden Axe will always be the best in the series. However, the second one is an enjoyable game regardless, and with superior music in my opinion. At least you were able to play as the classic trio here, something you couldn't do in the third game, which ommited both Ax Battler and Tyris Flare, and reduced Gilius Thunderhead's role to that of a supporting character which was a major disappointment.
awesome game, though I'll always prefer the original Golden Axe, the series as a whole is quite good. Between all three Golden Axe and Streets of Rage games Genesis had some of the best brawlers.
The Music in the first is epic. megadriver did a rock version of this song and when I heard the rock version of the song I felt like I was ready to go to battle myself. the name of the rock version is called "the Battle of Ravgaed Village" .
Exceptional soundtracks, specially the third stage !!!

The music suddenly shifted into a "Streets of Rage" style for the ending. Not that that's a bad thing. :)

Well I kind of think this Golden Axe 2 is better to play than the other one.

Could it be that the sound is worse than on an Amiga?? Crap. Well played, though.

as far is looks exactly the same as the 1st part... more like a expansion than an actual 2nd part

In a way it was, there was a "proper" sequal in the arcades though.
