  • Totally Totally SICK!!!!!

  • AWESOME¡¡¡¡¡ D: ★★★★★★★★★★ ♥♥♥ ♫

  • This music is just MAGNIFICENT!!! there are no words for it...just listen.

  • 6 people didn't like this..?? why did they even make the effort to vote it down...??

just move on, change the channel. gah!!

this is some of the finest musicianship on the frikkin' planet !!!

  • this piece is just incredible: it has a great melody, that goes far from any melody that a simple human being can write, and it has an harmony that seems to want to go beyond any barrier of our hearing

  • And the MTV awards, and the general public, worry about the next rant by Kanye West to what's her face? Grow up people! Even the Grammies are worried about the popular crap that will be forgotten in a year with their CD's sold in the dollar rack! You are witnessing one of the best duo's in the history of the universe! They will never be forgotten and in the same breath as Mozart, Beethoven and Bach!

  • quoting mozart. nice

  • who needs a drummer when you've got chick?

  • Can anyone else explain how these guys can be so damned cool and collected while busting out this madness?

How is it possible that just 2 musicians, playing many of the parts right alongside each other and with lots of spacing CAN SOUND LIKE A WHOLE SYMPHONY?? wtf. really, w t f

  • I saw these two at the Barbican in London for the London Jazz festival, they were really amazing!!

  • Stunning... so great I feel bitter - oh, what talent and blessed skills.

  • Gary Burton=amazing.

    end.

  • those gold bars are the true world currency

  • Mind-boggling-sheer-genius!

  • I'm having trouble finding the sheet music for this. Does anyone know where I could buy it from?

  • dope

  • Very classical.

  • I saw these two together thirty years ago. They're as fresh now as they were then. Bravo.

  • such elegance!! I think this is my favorite duet ever.

  • Bill Evans and Jim Hall are another good one!

  • The double strike with the left pinky between 2:17 and 2:18 displays the depth and detail of his comping (left hand) while driving the story with his right.

The left hand is the backdrop to the story and the right hand is the story within the backdrop.

    Such confidence... Such imagination...

  • ^0^ bravoooo !

  • fantastic 2 musicians in perfect rapport.

  • Amazing or amazing?!? :)

  • yesssssss

  • Sick.

  • fuck. that vibra solo :O

  • Chick Corea is the best jazz pianist of the world, yes?

  • Some considers Keith Jarrett as the greatest. Depends on which musical perspective you see it from

  • for a scientologist, sure

  • uhh i'd like to protest

look up Keith Jarrett, Brad Mehldau, Michel Camilo

I'm not saying any of these guys are better or "the best" but it'll make you think.

  • @gamnub405 Bill Evans, Lyle Mays, Bud Powell, Oscar Peterson. Oscar Peterson, yeah! etc

  • damn I WANT SOME FREAKIN SCORES FOR THIS ONE!!!

  • well, than you should start wrting them out :)

  • owned

  • if ur done give me a hint ill buy the sheets from you :)

  • just try to figure it out yourself. it's more satisfying, and helps you attain your sense of pitch.

  • Thanks for sharing! I was lucky to see them playing in Buenos Aires in 1980. that

performance was the best of all I've seen.

  • They aren't the M25's. This video was shot a little before those mallets were created.

  • Gary is most certainly playing with m25. The m25 mallets were created over 20 years ago!!

  • I'd like to see Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Lady GaGa, or any madly famous pop star do ANYTHING like this. There musical knowledge would probably pop like a balloon.

  • What music knowledge?

  • Ha Ha exactly

  • don't be "those guys".

  • Gay fish don't know what 7th chords are.

  • You do know Gary is gay, right? Kinda inappropriate to be throwing around "gay" as an insult....

  • @fstball4110 thank you for classifying them as pop stars! agreed!

  • @fstball4110 actually Kanye is very artistic, knowledgeable, and creative.

  • @bamwow09 Sure, in his genre. But compared to Chick he's even less then nothing… Chick smokes even most of the musicians he plays with and who he composes for.

  • @santibanks I wouldn't say "less than nothing" but sure.

  • @fstball4110 im not sure I would ever want to hear chick corea or gary burton try to rap though

  • @fstball4110 While I agree with you, you should demonstrate a grasp of the differences between there and their when bashing a group of people.

  • @fstball4110 I'd like to see either of these guys produce stuff like Kanye makes. It's not even the same, appreciate both in their own right because neither one can do what the other does. That's like saying I'd like to see Michael Jordan throw a football like Dan Marino or something.

  • @zweb88 Don't get it wrong. hip hop producers are good listeners, not really good musicians.

  • oo i love how they did that little tradeoff on the run at like 2:00. that seemed really difficult.

i love this piece. its relaxing but energetic at times

  • Glad they got a Grammy !! Congrats !!

  • Probably the best Jazz duo ever.

  • @Manolian X2

  • @Manolian what about davis-coltrane?

  • This one is awesome, but I believe the name of this piece is Tango '92, no?

  • @Blues003: No, this is Rhumbata, but they also performed Tango '92 during this concert. Buy the DVD!

  • bet it was electric being there

  • Glad they got a Grammy !! Congrats !!

  • They have always created at the highest level. Beautiful brilliant and soulfull. Two masters!

  • Definately, one of the best duos in the world!

  • damn, that's tight.

  • The Piano and Vibes complement each other extremely well.

  • they are so tight its unbelievable

  • i can't help but tear and smile like a baby each time I see these two live. Best duet ever!!!!

  • This is amazing ! I have listened many times to this . It is so good .

  • thanks for pointing it out... i enjoyed it

  • Swear I hear both Tchaikovskyv and Chopin in this piece. Regardless... I like it... I realy like it!

  • this is amazing.

  • Actually, perfect on time, NOT like a computer.

  • piano and vibes.. perfect on time like a drumcomputer! amazing....

  • They're better than a drumcomputer ;) They've got feel, computers don't.

  • O_O wow

  • MAN! That's gold.

  • literllay! (gold bar vibes)

  • I think i wet myself a little :O

    Pure genius.

Does anyone know if these are the M25's Gary is using, cause if so i'm getting a pair.

  • looks like they are

  • looks like they are

  • Gods!

  • magnificent!!

  • that was amazin!!!

i wish that i could play vibes like that...

  • every time i hear Chick Corea on the piano .. i feel like i dot not have any hands!! :(

Corea with Burton is the best phase of him i think..Realy realy nice!!!thanx man for this vid

  • ITS Bata Rumba with out the H when Chick started out on the music scene he played with Mongo Santamaria and others theres an Album called Cuban Roots by Mark weinstein

he was conceptionly way ahead of his time above the Cuban players.

This tune has nothing to do with Bata just great playing

nice changes and a few distorted Montunos

    Much respect chick

  • I think is Masterwork

  • Stunning.

  • An expressive truth of gift...a pleasure to hear!

  • Sheer artistry - it just doesn't get any better than this

  • It always gets better!!!! You have to listen to more creative music, it's always out there !! It always changes!

  • right on

  • Long Live the Stache Gary!

  • So annoying i couldnt go see gary burton playing 3 days ago!

  • I never thought a vibraphone was so cool.

  • Música deliciosa!

  • This is a great song. The rhumba is my fav. Unfortunately the sheet music hasn't been published, so if anyone feels like transcribing this, I'd love a copy.

  • quality post.

  • Outstanding musicians. Get rid of the moustache Gary!

  • wonderful as usual !!

  • This is A-mazing. It looks so easy... Love Burton, first hear him on Eberhard Weber's Fluid Rustle and still like it a lot. Keep it up!!!

  • Does anybody know the year of this concert?

    Thanks !

  • I've never heard Gary Burton play a single note that didn't sound perfect.

  • that is indeed the amazing thing about Burton. His technique is so sofisticated that everything is clear and precise!

  • wow

  • Very cool vid. thanks!
