Attila had probably a mixed racial heritage; the name "Attila" itself means "little father" in Gothic leading to the assumption that his mother was Gothic.

Ace and PoM as far as i have learned the Huns started out in the same part asia as the mongols and were pushed west by mongols and tartars and Uighurs( sorry if misspelt) until they arrived in Europe. also it seemed that late roman era germanic migrations were caused my them pushing those tribes

@NeCacaluXuxultic It's really interesting how so many of the ethnic groups that really gave Western Europe trouble over the years (Huns, Mongols, Magyars, etc.) came out of the Asian steppes. I suppose it has to do with the different tactics demanded of steppe populations as compared to European ones, but it's still an interesting thing to wonder about.

13:00-14:40 I'm a hungarian student of archaeology, but I got to say, even we don't know if we are actually related to the huns. XD With EVERY nomadic peoples identified by the romans as "scythians" or "huns", most of the tribal history falls into chaos. But there are archaeologycal evidences that the european and the asian huns are related to each other, and the first place where they appear is the mongolian area, called "xiongnu", so at least we know that much. :)
