I'm from the 80's and poplocked for a few years, (no where near as good i might add) and it got started on the streets of NY tryin to make some money entertaining the crowd. Entertainment is as important as skills.

Have you ever seen salah try and boog...it is sloppy as! Im not hating on salah I think he is good at what he does, but people go overboard and don't give the other dancers the respect they deserve.
I think people get too caught up in the nuances of popping. How you have to adhere to a strict code, that's one of the reasons Salah loses, he strays from it, because he makes it a point to entertain the crowd. That's when popping gets repetitive, and it's a breath of fresh air to see guys like Joon and Salah stray from mainstream popping and fuse it with bits of other styles, like breakdancing, etc.

Salah has killed Guchon since this battle. I think Salah gained some weight in this battle and wasn't as nimble as he usually is. Check out the 2007 battles. Salah destroys Guchon on 2 seperate occasions.

Gucchon is tight, its easy to "get" what he's trying to do... but his movements are small and have zero flamboyance, he also does the same stuff most other poppers do... better than most, but not very original...every move Salah does is his own, and they are all huge... plus this is a battle, and Salah hits Gucchon with 3 assaults in a row, first draws the slap to his side, then the hand slap, then the hug, crowd goes nuts. Overall I think Salah is the clear winner.
Being able to diss someone doesn't make you a better dancer.. This is DANCIN' not a battle between pantomimes. The crowd went nuts cuz Salah played with the music. I disagree. Assaults are important when it comes to battling. When it is 2 people going at each other it is either a show of moves or a battle. In a battle it is clever to think up assaults and even more clever to do them to the beat. It shows control, creativity etc etc. You dont have to 'insult' anyone during a battle but it is not 'nothin'. A lot of dancers are still working on their own style to even think about assaults and salah does it so naturally, gotta respect it. Peace

Overall I think Salah is the clear winner.

Being able to diss someone doesn't make you a better dancer.. This is DANCIN' not a battle between pantomimes. The crowd went nuts cuz Salah played with the music. Not because of these assualts ur think are raw. But honestly.. i've never seen Salah get down like that. So i'm not sure who I felt won. But those 'assaults' ur talkin bout... that's nothin.

I disagree. Assaults are important when it comes to battling. When it is 2 people going at each other it is either a show of moves or a battle. In a battle it is clever to think up assaults and even more clever to do them to the beat. It shows control, creativity etc etc. You dont have to 'insult' anyone during a battle but it is not 'nothin'. A lot of dancers are still working on their own style to even think about assaults and salah does it so naturally, gotta respect it. Peace

Gucchon was entirely on beat. I bet if you saw this round in person you would've agreed he won it. Salah seemed to run out of gas to me.
