so beautiful. too bad about the sound quality. thanks to miyagi-sama the koto has survived and blossomed.

The violin playing has absolutely horrible intonation. I like the concept of playing the shakuhachi on violin, and i think the violinist imitates the tonality of the shakuhachi very well, but PLEASE play in tune.

I would've prefered the erhu instead of violin gives it more ethnicity.

Unfortunately, the erhu would give it too much Chinese flavor. Japanese music almost never features a bowed string instrument.

Until XIX century instrument called kokyu was in use. Laster, shakuhachi gained more popularity.
