  • Cleaned-up lyrics. Listen to the original's fade-out section, where he intones, "You learn from me and I'll learn from me too stick with me and I'll stick in you whew". Gotta keep it real friends.

  • @Flatmint911 thats the best comment ive EVER seen on youtube!

  • Did you know that Captain Beefheart's voice doesn't sound like that at all? The microphone alters his voice at will. I would know - I'm was the microphone featured in this video. I'm part of a microphone union whose purpose is to alter the voices of artists all over the world.

  • @fukyous so nice to meet someone behind the scenes. I've been doing covert microphone work for Tom Waits voice for the past five years and Bob Dylan's for the past two. Hard work. Both sound as slick as Bing Crosby if you take my work away. Ruins everything. Nobody wants to hear "Devil going to be here soon" with that Bing voice. Takes work to make their voices sound so 'lived in'.

  • they're lipsync'in, ace.

  • I'm getting married next year and am looking to The Captain to supply the music for the First Dance with me and my dearest. Freak out the elderly relatives, and I want to see my grandmother dance to him.

I kinda like 'Sure 'nuff' - there's 'Big Eyed Beans' which is brilliant, but when I dance to it I look like a crazed psychopath - not the best look to impress the in-laws.

Any suggestions?? I've a feeling this could be a first for Captain Beefheart and his Dance? Band ;)

    CB fan since 1970.

  • My grandma is on vocals. She rules.

  • yea thats me on bass

  • I was the guitar!

  • It was me who taped this performance on my cellphone in 1968.

  • I'm Captain Beefheart in this video. I used to babysit Robert Smith and his brother. I'm a manipulator

  • my cousin is the drummer

  • My sister is playing slide guitar in this video. she is okay.

  • @arzai11 it was real reality man, you are so fuckin' right.

  • I find it kind of strange that I introduced Beefheart to my dad, and not the other way around. Especially considering the fact that he was in his late teens when Safe As Milk and Trout Mask Replica came out... Either way, absolutely phenomenal music! Damn shame this is so underrated.

  • @TheSaxon48 yes it's strange, but there has always been repression on real talent. during the time that great musicians and bands like capt. beefheart were unknown in the 60's and 70's, worthless bands like "the beatles" were known globally. who made the beatles so famous but capt. beefheart(s) so unknown? captain beeheart was like another talented michelangelo, but the beatles were like stupid talentless noisy spoiled children. today all bands are similar to the beatles. the repressers won.

  • @arzadi11 wow u really hate the beatles. Read more of its history so you could speak some facts about it

  • wOW. I would take THIS band 8 days a week over Zappa and his Mothers.

  • I was their roady when they came to England in '68. Never been the same since! They were incredible.

  • who's that guitar player? great slide work

  • I was 7 and living in Cannes when these guys took the promenade des anglais by storm - what a vibe!

  • Superb! Pure genius.

  • I'm a baby inside my mommies belly. I love captain beefheart.

  • b4 his time. rolling stones; pj harvey; without the beef....who knows. gone black (lights out is what i mean).

  • this guy is incredible

  • Captain Beefheart for Hall of Fame 2013

  • ah the good old days.......

  • "Rock music... is the child of blues and country western" ...which are the children of british and african folk music

  • Grandisiimi

  • im playing it on you tube.you sad yanks.

  • The best version, harmonica blows my mind.

  • playin on the beach is boss.

  • America produced the greatest songs of the classic Rock music during the 60's and 70's. and Captain Beeheart is one of the great example of it. but the British Rock singers couldn't understand Rock, so they destroyed it. Rock music only belongs to American culture, it is the child of Blues and Country Western, good old American folklore.

  • @arzadi11 I don't know about that man. American Rock is the best for sure, but the Brits had some good ones too. Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones. They don't top this but they're pretty good in my ears. I think the Australians did a pretty good job too.

  • @arzadi11

    uhh...

    maybe you should...

    uhh...

    keep your mouth shut...

    cause, uhh...

you don't know know what you're talking about...

  • @Swarmbat why do u keep saying "uhh... uhh..."? are u a retard ? so shut your mouth, you dumb open mouth is polluting the air.

  • @arzadi11 Oh yeah, maybe you're right. Maybe I am a retard. I should shut my mouth. I'm obviously polluting this youtube page with stupid comments. But at least I know what I'm talking about.

  • @Swarmbat no, you're NOT wrting any comment, you're just bullshitting to whoever writes any comment. so when you don't write any comment, how can you "know" what you're talking about? you're not talking about anything. you're just jealous that others can write comments but you can't, because you dont know anything, u can't know anything.

  • @arzadi11 You're absolutely right! I'm the most jealous son of a bitch who wishes he could write good comments on youtube! I should just jump off a cliff I'm so pathetic! Shame on me!

  • @arzadi11 I hope you're kidding, because if not... wow..

  • @arzadi11 The Beatles-British, Rolling Stones-British, Led Zeppellin-British, Neil Young-Canadian, The Who-British, Jimi Hendrix-American, but only became big when he went to england, I could go on much longer...

Unless you're trolling, shut up and learn a thing or two about music.

  • Epsilon15 asked - @newspix1 The heck are you on about?

I was responding to this comment on the page.

"How come the great musicians like Captain Beefheart or other great musicians like him didn't get to be as famous as let's say those worthless bands like The Beetles?

arzadi11 1 week ago in playlist YouTube Mix for Captain Beefheart

Hey, I dig the Captain, that's why I visited the page, but for someone to say the Beetles are a worthless band is a bit harsh in my opinion.

  • I can't stop watching this. Pure magic.

  • Anyone who would post they think the Beetles were a worthless band is either an idiot or just trying to stir up some crap to get a reaction. Well, I guess I fell for it!

  • search "Jesus Christ Sex Tape" for fun and excitement

  • Fun music.

  • How come the great musicians like Captain Beefheart or other great musicians like him didn't get to be as famous as let's say those worthless bands like The Beetles?

  • @arzadi11 are you kidding me? the "beetles" worthless? you really should open to other subjects in the music school

  • Jeff Bridges?

  • What's that stuff flying through the skies at 1:30?

  • @TheSprocket01 its magic

  • @TheSprocket01 It's agroup of time tourists from a far distant future time-travelling back to see the legendary Captain Beefheart play live - it was a special package deal

  • Captain Hoffman!

  • Im glad to see this has close to million views.

  • @DushevnaSepsa yeah but 50,000 of them are me

  • Did anyone remark on this? Predates Neil Young "Are your ready for the country because it's time to go?"

  • @Branimir9000 was just thinking that then saw your comment! funny because harvest came four years later. Also Beefheart's howling at 2:35 resembles rory gallagher's "going to my hometown" almost exactly when rory does the same thing about 3/4 into the song

  • mum get me a pepsi!!!

  • John Huntsman sent me here.

  • sloaches funhouse

  • What kinda guitar is that he is playing?

  • what a great video

  • the songs In a, i do believe. That being said you play cross harp to the 4 chord. you would use a d harp. If the song were in g you would use a c harp. Now take a deep breath and bend a long low one for me.

  • Could someone who plays harp enlighten me as to the key of the Capn's harmonica here? Thanks.

  • @Lpoolboy ayups mate, its in C, same as mine.

  • @junkdevil1 Cheers dude, I'm just getting into it and there's no bigger inspiration, other than perhaps the old blues players that Beefheart was fond of. I've only got a G so am gonna have to go to the music shop in the morning. Thanks again :p

  • @MrCeet wow! lucky you! you don't need a passport, just a car to go there! :)

  • Rock 'n' Bulbous

  • @JohnnyBlondo Boooooolbuse

  • i'd say the proud offspring would be the son of(alex)snouffer,,,the founder of the magic band and slide man on this tune..the man who gave the captain his start...anf who should be remembered for his legacy to truly immortal music...he played on 'safe as milk' and 'strictly personal'

  • ...can anyone out there fill me in on where this footage comes from...? this is utter gold...!
