no, you need some. whether you use "WERE" or "WAS" in FIRST person it's up to you. because there are some territories where people say "WAS" and some territories where people say "WERE". Most of native English people do not use proper perfect English. And a true linguist is "describing", not "prescribing". They try to find out how real people use the REAL language and why, rather than telling them what to say and how to say.

saw the movie, I know some people are going to be extremely over critical and hate it but, I really enjoyed it. I played the game and the feel of the movie is very true to the games. If I had any problem with the movie, there wasn't nearly enough shooting for a movie based on Max Payne.
