Well i'd like to add my own fact: They smell considerably less than other domestic birds such as chickens, ducks and goose. I used to buy turkey chicks and raise them back when i was living with my family. Usually other fowl animals smell very bad but turkeys are clean beautiful animals.

I got a question: A turkey has absolutely no means of defense if it was left alone in nature, can't fly and probably doesn't have good camoflage either. The Americans back in the day almost made this ugly ass bird their National animal, rather than the Eagle.

Although at the time they were lean birds that were good for hunting because they were very agile and smart, but after they started to only be raised on farms (and totally killed off in the wild) they eventually got fat and retarded like the ones you see today.
