this song seems overly complex for what it is, i mean considering its not even all that guitar reliant, all the melody and what i call 'Magic' comes from the lead singer. and to some extent the solos heard on the electric.

If you're still lacking a capo, a really decent substitute is a pencil or biro and a shoe lace

no troubles, gotta keep it pretty tight or else it has a tendency to deaden the top or bottom string, I recomend a long lace and tieing twice, if you dont know how to do it, there are plenty tutorials on youtube

Hell yes. Guitars are great to have. About your hand, you can find a position or find a way that it wont break guitar. Its not the greatest advice formed but that's the best I could think up.

y'know, you don't really need a capo, you can just tune the guitar up half a step.

this is how i like to tune my guitar up half a step:1)first of all, make sure your guitar is in regular 440 tuning then tune the E (6th) string to the first fret of itself. you will know you have done it correctly if the 4th fret on the E string matches the open A (5th) string. 2) next, tune everything else (besides the e string) by using 5th fret tuning (using the fifth fret on the previoyus string to tune the next open string up) and there you go, you are set to play Alumina without a capo!

EDIT: during 5th fret tuning you tune all the strings up using the fifth fret EXCEPT for the B (2nd) string. Instead, use the 4th fret of the G (3rd) string.
