If a govt works well for its people, who are we to say they must be a democracy. What did we get with bush's regime change in Iraq and Afghanistan? Nothing but a bankrupt and divided America. The shah was a much respected leader throughout the world during his reign. He was welcomed warmly in many capitals. And he cared a great deal for the history and culture of Iran. Unlike the current fanatics who rule Iran, they are welcomed nowhere and have turned there backs on the rich history of Iran and Persia. The shah was recognized by WHO as respected leader? He made so many promises to the Iranian people such as: "no one should remain homeless in this country," and that Iranians would have free telephone, heating, electricity, bus services and free oil at their doorstep. While many (bad) changes came to Iran under Khomeini, the said promises have yet to be fulfilled in the Islamic Republic.

I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about. ANY. The Shah was REMOVED, as was Mossadegh was 25 years before him, and for very similar reasons (i.e. Nationalism and oil politics). Read William Engdahl's book, "A Century of War", let alone the Shah's own memoirs from 1980.

We very much disagree and see things differently. Iraq is free from a sadistic psycho called Sadam- if you don't accept that, its your problem. Taliban/Al-qaida no longer have control over all Afghanistan. Of course after so many years of chaos it will take time to have some sort of democracy in those countries.
