I've had three babies, and they were not very sentient until maybe a year or so after they were born before they realized they were a seperate being with their own will. Unborn babies are not drones, non-humans, or subhumans. They are humans with human DNA, a human heart beating at 18-21 days, and fingers and toes by 5-6 weeks. As far as overpopulation, the United States alone produces enough food in one year to feed the entire world. Though sharing food, embracing better argricultural practices, and not wasting millions of pounds of food every year is difficult, this solution should be sought before killing unborn human beings.

Sperm are not human life distinct from the man. They only have half the chromosomes of a human being, the same DNA as the man, and are and will never become a human being. A new embryo formed when an egg and a sperm join has unique human DNA, a new individual human is created who grows and within 18 days, before a women even knows she is pregnant, has a beating heart, and within 5 weeks has hands, fingers, and toes. There is an extreme difference between a sperm or egg cell and a human embryo.

If you look at any biology book, text book etc. you can see what a fetus looks like at any stage. Most of the pictures I put on here are from "A Child is Born" a book for those expecting a baby, not a pro-life or pro-choice book. Also that picture is, in fact, a 10 week baby. The fingers and toes are well-established at this time as can be seen in any text book and/or internet search. If you go on a google image search you will see this on all the medical sites.
