basically, it will be beaten if it already hasnt been, but i mean cmon, people say it was cheap to build this. i know it wasnt. I am a fan of the imports in general so r34 skyline gtr will always be my fav, but i hate when people put down cars like this, I mean the guy put so many hours of his life and poured his heart and soul into this car, and doesnt deserve that kinda shit. Well done to the builder. I appreciate this masterpiece of a machine. so dont hate appreciate.
boo ya. lingenfelter built rat motor pushing almost 900 horsepower to the ground out of a four speed jerico transimission, in the 1989 (i think) silver state classic it averaged somewere around 197 MPH and had a terminal velocity of 222. go gottlieb! (no idea how to spell his name XD)
Hey !Get this,Im sittin in our bedroom,in a little village in the cotswolds in England,Im pissed because my clutch has screwed up BIG TIME!in my '80 Z28 road racer,we are looking on the net for solutions,End up here,I had a video tape of the silver state, and always remember Dan Gottleibs (SP?)camaro"big red",The point of this,This car is so Famous-It even has fans here,in a little cotswold village in The UK!!Thats amazing!!
thanks man...i was jus thinkin bout this an said...let see if youtube has it...then bamm, there it was...and yea its Big Red..i think that was the only car running a big block chevy in that range of speed...thanks again...great clip!!
Big Red: many will try to match it, none will ever succeed. 199.8mph average over that 50 miles or however long the Silver State is, with a clocked top end at 223, try to get a million dollar Ferrari to do that.
even when someone in a zillion dollar, thousand HP Viper or Corvette does beat it, it won't matter. BR is and will always be LEGEND. Coolest '69 Camaro EVER!
If I'm not mistaken, that's the world famous "Big Red" 1969 camaro- I'm not sure because I can't see it that well, but I heard that those guys are running the Silver State Classic again. No- it's not NASCAR. If you know about it, then you know. If you don't know, be a responsible adult and look it up.
How about you try standing on the side of a Highway with a piece of paper in one hand a camera in the other?! This is the "Big Red", but at about 175mph, you can hear the car before you can see it. My view was more like "ok, it's red, and it's going to be either the "Big Red" or the NASCAR"...(not yelling)
It's not a NASCAR. There was a NASCAR Car in the race, and it was like a minute behind this car. Plus, I was drunk and didn't really want to carry around the race sheet.

Big Red is a legend!!
All pro touring cars are modeled after it.
Built back in the late 80's
It was sitting in a car museum until recently
they decided to take it back on the road.
