"Bill Maher is the man who used the Christopher Reeve riding-accident tragedy to rant against the cruelty of riding horses. This is the man who “'oked' in 2000 that he hoped O.J. Simpson had murdered Katherine Harris, Florida’s Republican secretary of state. This is the man dropped by ABC in 2001 for calling our fighter pilots 'cowards,' while the 9/11 terrorists who died flying into a building full of innocent people were 'not cowardly.' "
1st I thank Obama for making his Govt., not like Bushes! Yes I do not forget his pre election jive talk about it will be the best non-politics "transparent" Govt ever. Thank you for making BUSH's GOVT. seem elementary in this line of BS Thank you Obama!
To my point today, If Dems are really after womens safety with giving them FREE Birth Control "nothing is ever free ppl" then WHY are not CONDOMS free to men to protect women from STDs???? oh thats right more women then men for votes! jive talk
I believe I'm correct in saying that many of the USA "Job Creators" ARE "Creating Jobs". However; most of these jobs are not created in the USA, but in China? To buy cheap when you're affluent, is parsimonious. To buy cheap when you're out of work, is called welfare.
Maybe it's because I'm not rich, but I dont like overly rich people. I agree that you should have a comfortable life with everything you need, but stockpiling money? Having 40 or 60 or more millions in a bank? Why? What for?
And yes, I know he probably already donates some of his money but he still KEEPS millions. Seriously, I'm not saying he should go broke but does anyone else agree being a millionaire (or a fucking billionaire) is just wrong in the world we live in today?
@NickNorie15 uhh no moron, those millionaires and billionaires create the millions of jobs that would otherwise go to the government. You do realize when a government job is created, it is from other people's money forcefully taken from them by legal means? Those rich people create more jobs than anybody else.
@1975howardgoldman "uhh no moron, those millionaires and billionaires create the millions of jobs that would otherwise go to the government."
Trickle down economics has been disproven so many times it is laughable people still think it's a valid point. But they do create jobs. There I agree to a certain point.
"You do realize when a government job is created, it is from other people's money forcefully taken from them by legal means? Those rich people create more jobs than anybody else."
@NickNorie15 "does anyone else agree being a millionaire (or a fucking billionaire) is just wrong in the world we live in today?"
As a staunch socialist. I say no.
If people have worked hard for that, they should deserve to be capable of becoming millionaireas and/or billionaires. If we don't give that option by taking away their hard earned money, you take away the incentive to try and become one. Which is taking away the will to excell. Which is something we still need in our human societies.
@NickNorie15 It kinda is, since after a certain income were your reach a comfortable living, your life doesn't change you just having nicer things. So the way you live is the exact same but you now you just have more expensive things.
That fact by itself, isn't bad. It is bad when you look around and see that while these people are buying themselves a second mansion, there are homeless people not far away. That's what's fundamentally wrong.
@NickNorie15 I agree with your, they waste millions and billions when they could easily change thousands of a lives for the better maybe millions. But they don't, because you know having a housing with 20 bedrooms is needed when you only have 2 people living there.
You're absolutely right. It's ridiculous that we live in a society where not only is it accepted to spend millions on cars while people starve but these people are actually idolized; they're models in our society. And when you say that to people, they say you're a Pol Pot lover... People are weird.
@NickNorie15 Ya it's sad how the people who damage lives and do stupid things are idolized, well those that are working to push mankind forwards and help people aren't. We live in a really weird time I agree.
It's funny that he's making jokes about what's essentially true about HIM. It is fundamentally wrong to be a millionaire in a country where there are homeless people. He should donate the crushing majority of his money until reaching "reasonable" wealth levels. I'm not against living comfortably but anyone who makes millions and still KEEPS millions is a very selfish person. I agree with most of what Maher usually says but you have to admit the guy is a hypocrite.
Both sides are so screwy now - we as Americans continue to look to others (i.e. the Gov't) responsibility for our own lives. How all these officials try to claim how many jobs "they" created. Cut Medicare (especially end of life care), raise social security age, increase tax caps on social security, get rid of ALL income tax deductions - and set captial gains tax at the same level as a new (lower, with no deductions) income tax rate. Stop expecting gov't to fix things
Since when did it become OK to label greedy, rich assholes who don't care about anything but their own net worth "job creators"? Have you seen the jobs they've created? They've all been created overseas for the past three decades, where people work 12-14 hour shifts in lousy conditions for pennies an hour. Those workers are so miserable they're committing suicide in droves. This is something we should respect?
I propose we relabel them either "tax non-payers", "ogres", or "slave drivers".
@flintybraz they are bad when they cry for a tax cut claiming to be the "job creators" then turn around get the tax cut then not create a single job.. thats when they r bad
@JJarv213 Consumers at home and abroad. US manufacturing growth is 4 times stronger than the global US economy growth: industrial production is above the pre-crisis level, export of goods hit a record $1.5 trillion in 2011 (+40% in two years)... Not many western nation are able to say the same. Large industrial and technology conglomerates (most of them led by Republican CEOs, by the way) are by far the largest net job creators in America since 2009.
If you want to resume economics with regard to this debate to one sentence, I would say that my spending is your income and vice-versa. The production process is literally driven by demand and demand follows the wages and capital gains resulting from market exchanges... it's demand which is the connecting line between the dots. That's if you understand the theory.
And, yes, it does follow that consumers are job creators.
@KrugmanTheKing However, Germany and other northern european nations prefer to increase taxes on consumption (even a 25% flat VAT) and cut taxes on businesses. Consumption and payroll taxes are by far the largest source of revenue in the European Union.
Politicians have their campaigns financed by them... what the countries do bothers me little; what reality is does bother me and reality is a world in which trickle down economics never works.
In the US, it's so blatantly biased by corporate money that you can predict elections at something like 97% by who's got the most funds -- you can even very well predict what they will do once in post, that is to answer back those who backed them up.
In 2008, who won? Omaba. Who got the most funding? Obama. Which institution was his most important contributor? Financial institutions... what happened later? He socialized the market risks and privatized the profits. Who backed up the Republicans behind Bush? Those same people who got the tax cut they wanted.
That's called buying yourself the conditions you prefer and it's not democracy... it can't be so long as too much is left in the hands of too few.
Make a quick overview of advanced countries and their spending history... you might realize that right wing cuts in spending aren't cuts, they simply differ the transfer means from social programs to military and high tech subsidies in most cases -- in some cases they even dare increase the spending as with Reagan who operated a true reversed Robin Hood: robbing the poor to give to the rich. An other thing you'll see beyond the participation of the State is the political spectrum.
There's a substantial bias over the right in public debates and medias -- and here it's worth noting how it works as it's indeed true medias tend to be lean more toward the left than not. Those criticism they address are always limited critics: they never put in doubt the principles or the fundamental structures of our society, but only and solely the manner in which we use them. The actual bias is an enormous, yet unjustified, consensus over polyarchies and mixed capitalism.
This aside, although it does explain why stupid policies are undertaken all the time, the whole point behind the importance of spending remains true in our system, regardless of what politicians do or say about it.
It's not very hard to understand that people fire employees when sales go down and that if you do that to a massive scale, sales will go further down. It's simple to explain and not long to seize: it's because it's demand-driven.
Of course, there are some PhD in economics, probably having some substantial incentive to say something else, will start using dumb replies to justify their bias toward anything else.
I'm talking for instance of Robert Lucas who's been so absent of his own profession that he didn't realize fiscal policy was efficient even under Ricardian equivalence -- which has been constantly showed since the mid 80's and as the advantage of matching empirical data.
I know u are trying to be "think outside the box" and all but that isnt accurate. the real job creators arent the consumers. if no one provides the goods and services that the consumers demand then there are no jobs and is no economy. If I want(demand) an automatic ball scratcher - does me having a need for it create any jobs? no. if someone decides to invent one he creates jobs - then guys will demand it and it will create more jobs. and balls can be scratched automatically
In 2004, 1%er GW Bush handed over a one-time tax amnesty to overseas money that was repatriated. Wow, that really led the fat cats to create lots and lots of jobs. Nope, the result was millions of jobs LOST. The greedy bastards just stuffed the money away and took it all out of circulation--exactly what they've done in the last five years. Now, the Republicans who weep at a billionaire losing a few pennies, are at it again, seeking another amnesty so their rich buddies can pile it up again.
@drinksmokelie Obama has proved to be 10 times the Wall Street whore than Bush. Obama has taken more money from Wall Street than any other president in the history of the US. Obama's campaign is being funded by George Soros, A Jew who turned in other Jews during the holocaust not to mention destroying other countries currencies. I guess for Democrats, as long as you support abortions, especially for black people, you can turn a blind eye over anything...
@salvadory Well that is not what theOccupy Wall Street crowd would call it, they would call it chronie capitalism. But since Obama is the Democrats retarded stepchild, no one is allowed to say a thing. The Democrats are 10 times as dispicable as the Republicans are... they tell people to hate the rich, but who are they backed by? Rich people..if the American youth weren't so retarded they could maybe see the tools they are..
@1975howardgoldman is that why the democrats favor wage increases for workers- strenghtening the minimum wage- protecting union rights and workers rights- yes the republican right to work agenda- yeah a right to work for less pay less benefits and less say- i know some democrats are liars- and Obama isnt all he promised but compared to the GOP hes way better- the more Romney opens his mouth the more he shows his true colours- i think its the old republicans who are retarded
@salvadory@salvadory - All increase the minimum wage does is in crease the wages of union workers, because thatis what their wages are basedon, don't try to layguilt on me with that. If you increase the minimum wage and do not cut taxes allyou are doing is giving the government more money. The unions have destroyed the quality of American Auto manufactures, all credibility to American teachers, and any cumpibility for government workers. All they are, is a group of people ordered around by Jews
@1975howardgoldman i call bs- the german autoworkers are some of them ost productive and profitable in the world- their union auto workers make nearly double what ours make with the some of the best benefits retirement health care on the planet and they are competing at and near the top- 2nd tell people who work their butts off for minimum wage which isnt even enough to survive- income for workers has been going downward across the board including union workers-
@salvadory Have you heard the Euro zone is going belly up for those so called hard working German workers? The hard working German workers have entitlements that the taxpayers can't afford. This is becaue the unions just suck all of the trough and produce the laziest workers around. If minimum wage is so bad, those illegals @ Home Depot seem to do better wqork than union carpenters, yet they cost tons less..why are all of these people coming toAmerica if this wage is so horrible?
@1975howardgoldman oh yeah its because all of the white middle class that is so lazy they can't even mow their own lawns work 30% less for 30% more wages.
@1975howardgoldman US capitalism worked very well for 50 years after the Great Depression. Private sector workers were 35% unionized and the rich payed 70%+ top tax rate and all incoming goods were charged with trade tariffs, while markets were strictly regulated. The 1st year the USA grew its debt faster than its GDP: 1982. Since then only 6% of private wf is union and taxes on the rich are lower than ever with deregulated capitalism: US debt is out of control since then.
@szatmar666 Um you seem to forget the Great Depression was caused by capitalism. In fact, rampant capitalism was at the heart of the Revolutionary War.
@szatmar666 Actually it didn't work in the 50s after the Depression. Each decade capitalism rises and falls largely because of the over balancing of the rich at the detriment of the poor. This is why capitalism usually fails because the economy is never stable under the system especially when the system is abused.
@Ryooken That's just an opinion, what I am talking about are economic stats: the US debt to GDP ratio never went up for 50 years except during WW2. Since 1982 however there are only 4 years that it went down, for the rest the US grew its debt much faster than its GDP EVERY year for almost 30 years. Sure there were stock market downturns between 1932 and 1982 but they were nothing compared to 1929, 1987, 2001 or 2008.
@szatmar666 No actually it's a fact. If you look at the history of capitalism in this country, you will see the consistent failures of the system to maintain itself without exploitation. You will see a direct correlation between the exploitation and government regulation. The GDP went up because we were at war and that mobilized the nation, which has nothing to do with what I said. If you are going to analyze this, then you must do so in it's entirety without that the picture is flawed.
@Ryooken I just did: I presented facts from US economic history...which seems to be way above your head because you didn't even bother to address them.
@szatmar666 I see so you missed the part where I said the reason the GDP went up was because we were in the middle of a war. If that's too cryptic for you, then let me put it another way, because the government funded a war we produced more than we ordinarily would. Did I address that enough for you or would you like to continue?
@Ryooken What U R saying is not cryptic: it makes no sense. 1) The GDP went up most of the time during peace too. 2) I was talking debt/GDP because that's what matters. Sure you can grow the GDP like gangbusters if you borrow like Reagan and Bush (which was only OK during WW2 not after) but that's not what successful capitalist countries do. After the war the US paid off the debt by growing the GDP faster then the national debt EVERY year until 1982. that's what I was talking about.
@CandleLitCinema Before the 1980s you couldn't use "leveraged buyouts" to destroy perfectly good companies. Today a group of wall street sharks can come in, engineer a hostile takeover with borrowed WS money and then put that debt on the company balance sheet and use the resulting bankruptcy as an excuse to loot people's retirement savings. that's just 1 example. there a millions. Another one is the 1934 Telecom regulations that were in effect until the last 10-15 years.
@1975howardgoldman glad to know you think its ok for people to work their butts off for 6 and 7 dollars an hour- here in washington state we have the nations highest minimum wage which most consider a joke as it isnt nearly enough to get by
@salvadory I lived in Washington State, full of Socially retarded people who think passing gay marriage is of more importance than their moronic legislature that has a $30 billion hole to fill. Yeah Washington is so hard all a woman needs to do is get divorce twice because the men are so stupid they are forced to ive them tons of money..
@1975howardgoldman I lived in Mexico for many years and you white liberals think you know hard work..its 'hard work' to lift up a phone and call a lawyer to sue somebodybecause life isn't fair...you people can't even do your own farm work you rely on illegal immigrantsfor most of your labor..you know what they say down there in Mexico about you? "Los Guerros son tantos"....They love coming up to Washington then getting some fugly woman pregnant and married, then divorcinfg them 5 years later..
One good analogy is shopping. You have x amount you must spend to live (food, etc), and y is discretionary (entertainment, etc). If I have less money (higher taxes), am I just going to eat the loss? No, most people cut spending. Businesses do the same thing when they have less money to work with; that could mean employees that aren't strictly necessary to keep operating (which would be y, in the analogy) get laid off. Not saying no taxes is good, but there are repercussions to consider.
So fucking stupid. Jobs only get created by rich people in order to expand their business and generate more profit. Gifting them more money isn't going to inspire them to create jobs just because they have more money, no it's going to get them to buy a new car or private jet or yacht. Tax cuts to the rich merely distribute more of the economy into the hands of the richest 1%. Money they either keep to themself or spend on useless shit NOT creating jobs.
@youbetzler no actually worse they dump their money into chinese investments or into offshore accounts and sit back and make more money which contributes nothing to the us economy! i have a friend whos family is worth millions- he makes millions in interest a year just having money sit in a bank acccount- he told me this Bush tax cut was a god send for his family!
@youbetzler Are you kidding? The largest job creators are small business people. They make less than 250,000 per year. Most rich people don't create jobs. In fact, Mitt Romney the current Republican front runner was a corporate raider. Those are the guys that go into companies steal all the valuable assets then fire the hard working people that a moment ago had a solid future. So please let's cut the crap shall we.
Are you a Democrat disappointed in Obama? Hate neocons?
Help us do something about it.
Vote for Ron Paul in the GOP primaries, and kick the warmongering neocons out of the race.
Do you really want to run the risk of a Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich for president? Another war? No more Neocons. Show them the majority of america is sick of them.
We welcome your help. Please consider it.
Search "Blue Republican" if you want to know the game plan. Interesting stuff.
As far as the size of Maher's ENORMOUS TRUNK, when he laughs, .00000001% of the domestic population laughs with him.... and when he sneezes, it's goodbye N. Hollywood.
I just reviewed this video again, I noticed he actually went through an entire list of all the people his fictional persona employs.
The maid, Limo driver, Tivo programmer, landscaper, liposuctionist, gardener, gardener's personal trainer, dog whisperer, double, farmer, hand dispenser lady, girl to mistake him, guy who takes care of his sharks, marijuana valet of 20 years.
Kinda ironic to not call him a job creator...
I guess you could tell them to go to the unemployment office...
@Dethreid you totally missed the point of the joke. he's making fun of the idea that, if his taxes go up (by a mere 3%), because of his resultant "uncertainty", he's not going to create those jobs anymore and he'll just...
@Dethreid yeah, but why decrease taxes and increase the size of the government? that's basically the policy that brought on the deficit crisis. what cave have you been living in?
also, the joke maher is making in saying that he's a "job creator" is funny because all the jobs he listed are basically his servants'. why should an economy be based around some people serving another group of people who arbitrarily encountered great wealth?
Because people don't arbitrarily encounter wealth.
Now, if someone became wealthy because they used the federal government to prevent competition and give themselves unfair advantages over others..
All people who are wealthy don't do this, don't heavily tax all of them, if they make a product that the consumers buy and like, they should be rewarded for it.
Bill Maher runs a show that people like, he deserves his money and you cannot take it from him.
I don't recall asking for an increase in government spending though either.
The people who he listed as working for him are in fact, servants.
They have a easy job, they don't get paid a whole lot to do it usually, but they are not forced to work for him and can quit whenever they want.
The country needs to rethink the federal government and its roll, and realize that the government has nothing, it must take that money from others before it can do anything.
you have to employ a great deal of people to keep your wealth, even if it is inherited.
a. save the cash, you lose money to inflation.
b. savings account, lowers interest rates and generally spurs investment (see capitalism)
c. buy a bunch of non-essential things, (yachts, iphones, nice cars which pay people to build them)
d. invest in the stock market, which plays it's roll in business...unless the government comes in and decides to use tax money to cover risky trades...that is NOT capitalism.
@yauyyb the term "job creator" is nothing but a meaningless, focus-grouped euphemism for "the rich" used by BOTH parties & the media in order to fool mindless sheep into voting against their own economic interests.
DEMAND is what "creates" jobs not rich guys getting tax breaks. middle class & working people with $ to spend buy things which creates demand which creates jobs. if anybody are "job creators" it's the working middle class.
@WikeddTung I agree "job creator" is a stupid term.
however, the people who make great products which are, /gasp, demanded are financially motivated and employ a great number of people trying to attain that wealth. Unless you want to attain your wealth via the government with contracts, not providing a product people want but instead bribing politicians for sweet contracts with no incentive to provide a desirable product.
I don't get it. If you create jobs, you generally do it because it is profitable. Generally, only profits are taxed. Even if the tax rate is 90% on profits, how does that make a difference whether or not you want to create a job? It's still either going to be either profitable or unprofitable no matter what the tax rate is.
@MrBenny10101 It is very difficult to get investors when tax rates narrow margins.
Even at 35%, this creates a great obstacle to becoming profitable within a acceptable time frame.
Many economists warned that economies in Asia were adopting capitalistic philosophies, and that when they did the capital would be evacuated from the US if our tax rates, regulatory overhead, and healthcare costs failed to offset importation and transport expenses.
@Dethreid Well I understand margins, at least in concept, and I can understand the narrowing of margins I guess, but the taxes are definately not responsible for jobs moving overseas. How much do the people in those overseas jobs make? To be competetive, American wages would have to be the same. I think the obvious solution is to adopt a policy that if stuff is going to be sold in America, it should also be made in America, but that's politically impossible no matter who's in charge.
@MrBenny10101 It is also been tried many times (see 'soviet Russia')
Honestly at this point banning goods from entering the US would be great for the 3rd world countries, even the industrialized.
Though it would completely screw Americans, personally I like that I can afford an Iphone, and it is much better then the crap that is made here. If an Iphone had to be manufactured here...well I wouldn't be able to afford it, few would.
@Dethreid Yes the Iphone would cost more, and the US does get a great deal on a lot of overseas stuff, but the truth is the average standard of living has been falling, it was higher when more average people could find jobs paying a decent paycheck. Besides doesn't most of the cost of owning an Iphone come from the phone plan? Also, food, housing, family is more important than a slick device you gotta upgrade every 3 years to stay current. I wouldn't mind touching on russia but I'm out of space
@MrBenny10101 You answered your own question, if you are going to create a job the the benefits you/your company get from the job need to be GREATER than what you pay the person. If you make $1million and get a 3% tax increase to keep the $30k you can either accept the loss or cut someone who is getting paid too close to or more than their labor is worth.
@PatriotNotGovernment So as an imagined scenario say you make a million (I wish I did) and you employ say 33 people and pay them 30K each. So basically the value created by each job is 60K, and you keep half. Now your tax rates go up 3%. How does cutting someone help you? Ok oversimplified example. Adjust the amount of profits on each job however you like in your mind to more reflect the real world. I think you will see it still never helps to cut someone if you need them.
THat is true. However, the gains you make wil come at a MUCH slower rate at 90% compared to, let's say, 10%. Thus investment capital is gained at a much slower rate. That, in combination with the fact that US CURRENCY, unlike US MONEY in the 19th and early 20th century, is subject to signifacant inflation, basicily means you'll be bleeding to death slowly with high taxrates. Unless of course you believe government spending is efficient enough to compensate.
@jccusell I get you, and to tell the truth I am no economist, I just felt like putting an argument out there. The media is definately no help in settleing this debate either. I do however know a couple guys that work in futures. An industry that tends to pay keen attention to economic effects of policy. They me that in the macro sense tax breaks generally only have a short term effect even if they are permanent. I have no idea why, I'm no economist, but that's the way it seems to work.
@MrBenny10101 Because it may not be worth your time/money. If I have to go through a lot of effort to start a business and hire employees (running a business is not easy and takes a lot of investment, both personally and financially) only to have 90% of what I made taken from me, it makes it less attractive as an option. The more money I have taken from me, the less money I have to spend to increase my business and profits (i.e. jobs). Profit makes the economy go 'round.
@saberswordsmen1 The thing is, the tax rate is progressive. If your a small business owner, and your business or multiple businesses make over 250K-1000000+ a year you are actually doing pretty well. Most startups don't do that. Anyway one thing that's weird is that somehow a lot of people think it is profit that drives the economy. Not really, there are people makeing a lot of profit in countries that have terrible economies. What really drives the economy is demand.
@MrBenny10101 Actually, $250k a year isn't all that much as far as a business goes; still well qualifies as the definition of "small business" (which is sub 200 employees, IIRC). As a startup? No, you won't; but small business is still heavily effected, and that's where the jobs are at. So increasing taxes in that bracket risks cuts. If I have less money, I cut spending, that's all there is to it. And while demand is important in economy, the real drive is profit; Capitalism.
@saberswordsmen1 $250 K is a lot if it's your personal income though. I think it puts you somewhere in the top 3% or so. Anyway I'd definately argue that demand for goods and services is more important to capatilism than wider profite margins. One cannot just create opportunity out of nowhere, there's gotta be demand before there is profit.
@MrBenny10101 Again, in terms of a business, $250k really isn't all that much. But at any rate, I'm not saying that low taxes is always the best, only that there are real consequences towards business; taxes can encourage or hinder growth hence jobs, and a balance needs to be struck. As far as demand, you're right it's important, but if you ponder what capitalism *is*, profit motivation is at least as important. Therefore, when that's mitigated, it has a real effect. Incentive.
@MrBenny10101 I guess some of the difference depends on whether or not you follow Keynesian doctrine. Traditionally, it was thought that, to a point, supply creates it's own demand (Say's Law); Keynes rejected that. So, I suppose that can lead to a differing thoughts on importance in economy. Both ideas have Nobel Laureates to back them.
The reason they say "Job creators" so those without jobs will be for the tax cuts... THEY Dont create jobs , and the tax cuts for rich don't help anyone .... People are morons...
@bluntman1138 Job Creators don't come from North America , Job Creators come from the Genius Visa from other countrys they go to Sillicon Valley and create products and services and begin to employees , without the genius visa there would be no Google , no Youtube , there wouldn't be no sillicon valley...
@bluntman1138 Another thing you can't create jobs at Robert Kiyosaki has pointed out the jobs migrate to the cheapest labor , right now thats vietnam , china .... So why give them any tax benefits?
Rich people typically don't stuff money under their mattresses but invest it in companies so their wealth can expand. With this capital, the said companies can make more money and hire more people. If the market isn't good, then less money will be invested and less people will be hired. Thus, rich people are, in a way, job creators. Capitalism 101.
@AustinMartinLay i cant believe how many stupid people like you are out there that believe in this voodoo economic bullshit. Let me guess, your already rich and you would be the first to benefit from any tax breaks or continuation of tax breaks.
Geeze folks. This is JUST what the elite 'power base' wants us to do --call each other names and make us believe that we have less in common than we really do. It's a political (and military) tactic that's been used for too many centuries. "Divide and conquer" based on (mostly) social qualms... "Defeat in Detail" is based on a military paradigm, yet both are rooted in the same idea. Separate a group and make them [feel] alone.
@Redlegarty Oh yeah, and you're so brave posting your shit talking here... and besides, cowardness?... WTF are you talking about?... if you're going to insult someone make it relevant you stupid face boo boo head (just kidding on that last part, of course... idiot).
The father of modern day capitalism, Adam Smith. said, It's the the apex, the top that makes capitalism work. But, it's base. the workers that do the day to day jobs this country needs.
@cpufightclub It explains that I think it would be great if his heart explodes, but a will settle for Michael Moore's heart popping. I think thats a better bet.
People like Maher, Moore, snaredrum110, imabo5s .... these are all morons who stand for a particular culture, or group. It's like the exhausting fever of ignorant opinions, and mindless emotions - like in 2004, and the way the media was during the Bush years. All about, I think this because thats how I feel, and if you're on the other side, and you disagree, then I hate you. ...... AND NOBODY GETTING TO THE TRUTH!!! Fuck the Democrats. Fuck the Republicans. Fuck Maher. Fuck Limbaugh. Fuck the N
Truth! The college bubble is dismaying. People are practically buying a house that cannot be inhabited whilst living with parents! The incentives of going to college are winding down...Is a degree for classes that we can self-teach ourselves worth a life in debt? That is what we tackle in this video with clips from the Milwaukee Rally!! View it at OfficialCypherSon
@TheMindofCory 100 grand a year is now rich? Boy, it's like the amount of money you have to make to be considered rich just gets lower and lower. Ever hear of taxes? Insurances? Living expenses? And ya know what. If what you just quoted there isn't B.S., that doesn't mention the businesses that are part of inheritances.
Buying products does help create jobs, to some extent. But guess what! Who's gonna make the products when you take all the money from the businesses that make the products?
@mgsfan15 ALL the money from businesses? are you retarded??? They aren't paying anything in taxes, they use loopholes and offshore tax havens... any attempt to end that is "too much regulation" on the "Job Creators"
and you see how this works? there IS no product without a consumer in the first place, therefore there IS no business without a consumer.
The product is useless to the business if there is no one to consume it.
It's amazing how many liberal bashing commentators fail to understand what's being said.
Ya guys, list a bunch ways that rich people contribute to job creation. Then call everyone else an idiot for not getting it, while failing yourselves to get that that's not what's being criticised.
You know...I just wish I could be as 'loving' as all of you lefties...because we're the 'haters,' right? Yeah, I guess when I stop being a 'hater' my comments will be more like the lefty liberal/commie comments on youtube...they always inspire me to give mom flowers and volunteer at a soup kitchen. :/
Yeah Bill fuck those rich people, they ain't creating no damn jobs! They just buy Lambos, play golf, or sit on their cash! I mean besides the car mfg, salesmen, finance mgrs, detailers, mechanics, custodians....golf equip/clothing/cart mfg, landscapers, caddies, ball boys...IBs, CFAs, CPAs, tellers, loan officers, brokers, someone's R&D dept...
Excuse me, I have some real jobs to create. Anyone have references for a lemonade stand operator?
@iPhTx3 No, kind of the opposite of bigoted actually. I judge on character, morals, what have you. I'd argue that Maher is the bigot. I remember when Nick Gillespie was explaining to Bill that "we have a spending problem, not a revenue problem" and Bill automatically wrote him off as a Republican.
There's no reason to hate the rich if they got there on their own accord. Political handouts/preferential treatment, well, that's another story.
exactly, it's not easy for YOU, because you are probably a fucking retard, which is the kind of person who enjoys bill majer, the tranny-dating troll.
@snaredrum110 Of course you are OK with all kinds of violence! You are a true christian! Do the opposite of what jesus said, and deny it every sunday morning! Hallelujah!

I believe I'm correct in saying that many of the USA "Job Creators" ARE "Creating Jobs". However; most of these jobs are not created in the USA, but in China? To buy cheap when you're affluent, is parsimonious. To buy cheap when you're out of work, is called welfare.

You're absolutely right. It's ridiculous that we live in a society where not only is it accepted to spend millions on cars while people starve but these people are actually idolized; they're models in our society. And when you say that to people, they say you're a Pol Pot lover... People are weird.
NickNorie15 4 weeks ago
@NickNorie15 Ya it's sad how the people who damage lives and do stupid things are idolized, well those that are working to push mankind forwards and help people aren't. We live in a really weird time I agree.

It's funny that he's making jokes about what's essentially true about HIM. It is fundamentally wrong to be a millionaire in a country where there are homeless people.

The economy is driven by demand for goods and services. The real job creators are the consumers.
JJarv213 1 month ago
@JJarv213 Consumers at home and abroad. US manufacturing growth is 4 times stronger than the global US economy growth: industrial production is above the pre-crisis level, export of goods hit a record $1.5 trillion in 2011 (+40% in two years)... Not many western nation are able to say the same. Large industrial and technology conglomerates (most of them led by Republican CEOs, by the way) are by far the largest net job creators in America since 2009.
xaviqaz 1 month ago
@xaviqaz
KrugmanTheKing 1 month ago
@KrugmanTheKing However, Germany and other northern european nations prefer to increase taxes on consumption (even a 25% flat VAT) and cut taxes on businesses. Consumption and payroll taxes are by far the largest source of revenue in the European Union.

@xaviqaz
KrugmanTheKing 1 month ago
@xaviqaz
KrugmanTheKing 1 month ago
@KrugmanTheKing False. Obama got more contributions from small donors (like myself) than anything else.

@xaviqaz
KrugmanTheKing 1 month ago
@xaviqaz
KrugmanTheKing 1 month ago
@xaviqaz
KrugmanTheKing 1 month ago
@xaviqaz

Since then only 6% of private wf is union and taxes on the rich are lower than ever with deregulated capitalism: US debt is out of control since then.
szatmar666 2 weeks ago 8
@szatmar666 Um you seem to forget the Great Depression was caused by capitalism. In fact, rampant capitalism was at the heart of the Revolutionary War.
Ryooken 1 week ago
@Ryooken that's why I said it worked in the "50 years AFTER the Great Depression"
szatmar666 1 week ago
@szatmar666 Actually it didn't work in the 50s after the Depression. Each decade capitalism rises and falls largely because of the over balancing of the rich at the detriment of the poor. This is why capitalism usually fails because the economy is never stable under the system especially when the system is abused.
Ryooken 1 week ago
@Ryooken That's just an opinion, what I am talking about are economic stats: the US debt to GDP ratio never went up for 50 years except during WW2. Since 1982 however there are only 4 years that it went down, for the rest the US grew its debt much faster than its GDP EVERY year for almost 30 years. Sure there were stock market downturns between 1932 and 1982 but they were nothing compared to 1929, 1987, 2001 or 2008.
szatmar666 1 week ago
@szatmar666 No actually it's a fact. If you look at the history of capitalism in this country, you will see the consistent failures of the system to maintain itself without exploitation. You will see a direct correlation between the exploitation and government regulation. The GDP went up because we were at war and that mobilized the nation, which has nothing to do with what I said. If you are going to analyze this, then you must do so in it's entirety without that the picture is flawed.
Ryooken 1 week ago
@Ryooken I just did: I presented facts from US economic history...which seems to be way above your head because you didn't even bother to address them.
szatmar666 1 week ago
@szatmar666 I see so you missed the part where I said the reason the GDP went up was because we were in the middle of a war. If that's too cryptic for you, then let me put it another way, because the government funded a war we produced more than we ordinarily would. Did I address that enough for you or would you like to continue?
Ryooken 1 week ago
@Ryooken What U R saying is not cryptic: it makes no sense. 1) The GDP went up most of the time during peace too. 2) I was talking debt/GDP because that's what matters. Sure you can grow the GDP like gangbusters if you borrow like Reagan and Bush (which was only OK during WW2 not after) but that's not what successful capitalist countries do. After the war the US paid off the debt by growing the GDP faster then the national debt EVERY year until 1982. that's what I was talking about.
szatmar666 1 week ago
@szatmar666 how were markets "strictly regulated". I'm not accusing you of anything, I just want to know.
CandleLitCinema 5 days ago
@CandleLitCinema Before the 1980s you couldn't use "leveraged buyouts" to destroy perfectly good companies. Today a group of wall street sharks can come in, engineer a hostile takeover with borrowed WS money and then put that debt on the company balance sheet and use the resulting bankruptcy as an excuse to loot people's retirement savings. that's just 1 example. there a millions. Another one is the 1934 Telecom regulations that were in effect until the last 10-15 years.

@Dethreid yeah, but why decrease taxes and increase the size of the government? that's basically the policy that brought on the deficit crisis. what cave have you been living in?
also, the joke maher is making in saying that he's a "job creator" is funny because all the jobs he listed are basically his servants'. why should an economy be based around some people serving another group of people who arbitrarily encountered great wealth?
clockworkscott 2 months ago
@clockworkscott
Dethreid 2 months ago
@clockworkscott
Dethreid 2 months ago
you have to employ a great deal of people to keep your wealth, even if it is inherited.
a. save the cash, you lose money to inflation.
b. savings account, lowers interest rates and generally spurs investment (see capitalism)
c. buy a bunch of non-essential things, (yachts, iphones, nice cars which pay people to build them)
d. invest in the stock market, which plays it's roll in business...unless the government comes in and decides to use tax money to cover risky trades...that is NOT capitalism.

WikeddTung 2 months ago

MrBenny10101 2 months ago 30
@MrBenny10101 It is very difficult to get investors when tax rates narrow margins.
Even at 35%, this creates a great obstacle to becoming profitable within a acceptable time frame.
Many economists warned that economies in Asia were adopting capitalistic philosophies, and that when they did the capital would be evacuated from the US if our tax rates, regulatory overhead, and healthcare costs failed to offset importation and transport expenses.
I personally noticed a few jobs leaving the US.
Dethreid 2 months ago
@Dethreid Well I understand margins, at least in concept, and I can understand the narrowing of margins I guess, but the taxes are definately not responsible for jobs moving overseas. How much do the people in those overseas jobs make? To be competetive, American wages would have to be the same. I think the obvious solution is to adopt a policy that if stuff is going to be sold in America, it should also be made in America, but that's politically impossible no matter who's in charge.
MrBenny10101 2 months ago
@MrBenny10101 It is also been tried many times (see 'soviet Russia')
Honestly at this point banning goods from entering the US would be great for the 3rd world countries, even the industrialized.
Though it would completely screw Americans, personally I like that I can afford an Iphone, and it is much better then the crap that is made here. If an Iphone had to be manufactured here...well I wouldn't be able to afford it, few would.
and the few that could...well they will be gone.
Dethreid 2 months ago
@Dethreid Yes the Iphone would cost more, and the US does get a great deal on a lot of overseas stuff, but the truth is the average standard of living has been falling, it was higher when more average people could find jobs paying a decent paycheck. Besides doesn't most of the cost of owning an Iphone come from the phone plan? Also, food, housing, family is more important than a slick device you gotta upgrade every 3 years to stay current. I wouldn't mind touching on russia but I'm out of space
MrBenny10101 2 months ago
@MrBenny10101 You answered your own question, if you are going to create a job the the benefits you/your company get from the job need to be GREATER than what you pay the person. If you make $1million and get a 3% tax increase to keep the $30k you can either accept the loss or cut someone who is getting paid too close to or more than their labor is worth.
PatriotNotGovernment 2 months ago
@PatriotNotGovernment So as an imagined scenario say you make a million (I wish I did) and you employ say 33 people and pay them 30K each. So basically the value created by each job is 60K, and you keep half. Now your tax rates go up 3%. How does cutting someone help you? Ok oversimplified example. Adjust the amount of profits on each job however you like in your mind to more reflect the real world. I think you will see it still never helps to cut someone if you need them.
MrBenny10101 2 months ago
@MrBenny10101
Unless of course you believe government spending is efficient enough to compensate.
jccusell 2 months ago
@jccusell I get you, and to tell the truth I am no economist, I just felt like putting an argument out there. The media is definately no help in settleing this debate either. I do however know a couple guys that work in futures. An industry that tends to pay keen attention to economic effects of policy. They me that in the macro sense tax breaks generally only have a short term effect even if they are permanent. I have no idea why, I'm no economist, but that's the way it seems to work.
MrBenny10101 2 months ago
@MrBenny10101 Because it may not be worth your time/money. If I have to go through a lot of effort to start a business and hire employees (running a business is not easy and takes a lot of investment, both personally and financially) only to have 90% of what I made taken from me, it makes it less attractive as an option. The more money I have taken from me, the less money I have to spend to increase my business and profits (i.e. jobs). Profit makes the economy go 'round.
saberswordsmen1 1 month ago
@saberswordsmen1 The thing is, the tax rate is progressive. If your a small business owner, and your business or multiple businesses make over 250K-1000000+ a year you are actually doing pretty well. Most startups don't do that. Anyway one thing that's weird is that somehow a lot of people think it is profit that drives the economy. Not really, there are people makeing a lot of profit in countries that have terrible economies. What really drives the economy is demand.
MrBenny10101 1 month ago
@MrBenny10101 Actually, $250k a year isn't all that much as far as a business goes; still well qualifies as the definition of "small business" (which is sub 200 employees, IIRC). As a startup? No, you won't; but small business is still heavily effected, and that's where the jobs are at. So increasing taxes in that bracket risks cuts. If I have less money, I cut spending, that's all there is to it. And while demand is important in economy, the real drive is profit; Capitalism.
saberswordsmen1 1 month ago
@saberswordsmen1 $250 K is a lot if it's your personal income though. I think it puts you somewhere in the top 3% or so. Anyway I'd definately argue that demand for goods and services is more important to capatilism than wider profite margins. One cannot just create opportunity out of nowhere, there's gotta be demand before there is profit.
MrBenny10101 1 month ago
@MrBenny10101 Again, in terms of a business, $250k really isn't all that much. But at any rate, I'm not saying that low taxes is always the best, only that there are real consequences towards business; taxes can encourage or hinder growth hence jobs, and a balance needs to be struck. As far as demand, you're right it's important, but if you ponder what capitalism *is*, profit motivation is at least as important. Therefore, when that's mitigated, it has a real effect. Incentive.
saberswordsmen1 1 month ago
@MrBenny10101 I guess some of the difference depends on whether or not you follow Keynesian doctrine. Traditionally, it was thought that, to a point, supply creates it's own demand (Say's Law); Keynes rejected that. So, I suppose that can lead to a differing thoughts on importance in economy. Both ideas have Nobel Laureates to back them.

The reason they say "Job creators" so those without jobs will be for the tax cuts... THEY Dont create jobs , and the tax cuts for rich don't help anyone .... People are morons...

bluntman1138 1 month ago
@bluntman1138 Job Creators don't come from North America , Job Creators come from the Genius Visa from other countrys they go to Sillicon Valley and create products and services and begin to employees , without the genius visa there would be no Google , no Youtube , there wouldn't be no sillicon valley...

AustinMartinLay 2 months ago

Who's gonna make the products when you take all the money from the businesses that make the products?
mgsfan15 3 months ago
@mgsfan15 ALL the money from businesses? are you retarded??? They aren't paying anything in taxes, they use loopholes and offshore tax havens... any attempt to end that is "too much regulation" on the "Job Creators"
and you see how this works? there IS no product without a consumer in the first place, therefore there IS no business without a consumer.
The product is useless to the business if there is no one to consume it.
TheMindofCory 3 months ago 3
It's amazing how many liberal bashing commentators fail to understand what's being said.
Ya guys, list a bunch ways that rich people contribute to job creation. Then call everyone else an idiot for not getting it, while failing yourselves to get that that's not what's being criticised.

iPhTx3 3 months ago
@iPhTx3 No, kind of the opposite of bigoted actually. I judge on character, morals, what have you. I'd argue that Maher is the bigot. I remember when Nick Gillespie was explaining to Bill that "we have a spending problem, not a revenue problem" and Bill automatically wrote him off as a Republican.
There's no reason to hate the rich if they got there on their own accord. Political handouts/preferential treatment, well, that's another story.
