@cornappledalsy that because technically its an alien prequel set on the planet and derelict alien craft that the nostromo crew find!! If you saw H.R. Giger's artistic works and his drawings you'd understand what he was trying to convey. If not for him, the alien would have looked like a huge space squid which it is how it was portrayed in Dan O'Bannon's script, which became the movie.
When James Cameron did the sequal he skipped Giger's input (Stan Winston designed the monsters) although he credited both Giger's and O'Bannon's creation. Cameron only saw the aliens as some generic space bugs.
@McLarenMereces - It doesn't matter how Ridley Scott or Dan O'Bannon or H.R.GIger designed\portrated the Alien - facts are the James Camerons Aliens are Xenomorphs or do we just ignore the sequel? So you are and your friend @geosylvatelopor are just going to ignore spins offs prequels a bit immature :S
@ineebriate Couldn't agree with you more CGI Is becoming boring.It should Stick To Video Games.It is one of the reason why the thing prequel flopped at the box office
Well see the problem is every story has been told before, no matter what it is and what all good artists do is take what theyve seen before and add do it and make it their own its the only way people know how to do things, eventually stories are different but they all have space marines and some kind of alien(s), so just stop bitching and watch the damn movie cause reguardless of what its about your gonna go see it
oh my god this looks horrible. Look how cheap the space suits look compared to the original1979 ALIEN. This is the most disappointing thing I have ever witnessed. I can already see this is one I will avoid in honor of the one and only true 1979 ALIEN film. This just freaking sucks.
Your still going to see it though, I bet. But Scott said that he wanted the script to be great before he does another alien movie and add to that he really loved filming it too so that must count for something. He put love and effort into his best movies like Gladiator and Alien and so far it seems that Prometheus is another one of his great movies. (HOPEFULLY).
Technically its not a prequel to Alien. Its sort of a spin off, prequelish hybrid. It tells a story about people in the same universe as the Alien movies, but it focuses on the first alien the see in the ship in Alien. The Space Jockeys
Its not a Prequel to Alien but it is based in the same universe and they do appear in it, its more an origin story for the Space Jockey's (the big dead humanoid guy sitting in a telescope looking thing) They created aliens to exterminate all life on planets so they could harvest all the resources on said planet.
This message goes out to all those people who've been saying that Prometheus is a video game inspired movie; the game being some Dead Space?
Seriously, guys? Do you even know who Ridley Scott is? Have you ever watched the classic called 'Alien'? If your answer to both of these questions is negative, I suggest you stick to playing dead space and stay away from movies because its highly likely that you'd be finding every other movie to look like one of those games.
This is not actually going to be a Alien prequel but something totally different. Ridley Scott filming this in total 3d from the Gecko and not adding it after the movie is done should make this movie something beautiful and creepy.
I'm a really big alien franchise fan and after researching many different sites regarding the film and looking at 2 of the leaked screenplays (may or may not be accurate) so I'll explain what will happen in the film.
The beginning of the film will show the begginning of mankinds creation (we were created by the spacejokeys). in the near future (no dates are given) we find spacejockey atifacts and discover where they're home world is. So we send the Prometheus with a crew to make first contact
But several traitors (or mercenaris) are on the prometheus and have incidious agendas (mabye a plot to steal technology and sell it back on earth). after arriving at the homeworld there may be 2 scenario's. the first is that we find it destroyed but on a SpaceJockey ship they find artifacts, eggs, dead bodies and a wounded but alive Spacejockey (with an alien inside it's chest). an egg or 2 hatches including the spacejockey alien. they try and find a way off the planet
or they find the planet and meet with the SJ (space jockeys). the SJ explain how they created us and explain how they can create life via genetic cloning. the traitors on the prometheus do something to piss off the SJ and they attack the humans. They hijack a SJ ship and force the pilot to take off but unaware on board are alien eggs. aliens hatch and attack everyone including the pilot who sends out a distress call. humans battle the humanoid and SJ alien as they try and escape
I'd go for finding the SJ world destroyed due to the film photgraphs released. PIC of 2 woman studying what appears to be alien egg with alien body nearby. on IDMb it has a large cast with some characters reffered to as Cacooned man and Mercenary. We know the alien will appear but will be very different in form than we're use to. not sure if LV426 will appear but it had a SJ ship in it, or it could may be the Prometheus ship (pics of prometheus look like the Lv426 ship)
@Nineteen1900Hundred Actually Avatar copied Pocahontas lol. New movies nowadays, it's almost always the same sad old story... There's nothing new about them.
@nunoanjos1 and just what makes it sad lol a good story is timeless. we've been rehashing the same good ol' tales with new settings, characters and twists since the dawn of storytelling and only now in this age of Hollywood are people complaining about it.. we've become collectively ADD
@joebeaudette21 You missed my point at all. I don't like plagiarism, period. I apreciate original ideas. Alien was an original movie. Aliens as well. But years after those classics, you see tons of new movies copying and stealing ideas from the alien franchise. So don't talk about the dawn of times. In the 80s there were plenty of original movies, that everybody copies in the present.
There's a difference between flat out plagiarism and re-telling a familiar tale in a different way. Flat-out copying is very bad. Using some fundamentals of the story and giving them new theme or fresh view is a good thing. I'm guessing it pisses you off because you're a writer? I dunno it seems like you're one. Do you know how HARD it is to make a completely new and original story? The most original I can think of from the past 5 years is Inception, and even then people complained.
@Nineteen1900Hundred Plagiarism pisses me off indeed. I wrote some books in the past, how did you know? It's very cool to create characters, develop them and create fictional worlds. I know it's harder to come up with original ideas, so? I'd be a lazy coward if I stole ideas from other people. I think it's morally wrong. I agree with you that inspiration and plagiarism are 2 different thiings, but sometimes the boundary is too blurry. It varies from person to person.
@nunoanjos1 HAHA to say Alien was completely original is way false. That movie was predominantly influenced and modeled after a group of science-fiction novels that acted as his inspirations.The screenwriter Dan O'Bannon said himself that he didn't steal the story from anybody, he stole it from everybody. He was originally influenced by a short movie (Dark Star) which he had a slight hand in, and then drew the rest of his ideas and inspirations from a number of different novels.
@joebeaudette21 Well said. Avatar, The Last Samurai, Pocahontas and such others are so similar to one another yet they're all great movies nontheless.
Oh god, you didn't understand what I meant....I mean that people think Avatar copied the AESTHETICS (Vehicles, spaceships, colourful environment) of Halo. But it's the other way around because it was made by James Cameron who already made Aliens which inspired Halo. But it doesn't matter because every space marine thing started with Starship Troopers. Anyway about Avatar...I love it. It seems everyone hates it because its similar to Pocahontas or Ferngully.
@Nineteen1900Hundred Oh ok, to be honest I didn't read what was said before, just your comment. So thanks for telling me. And Starship Troopers is another case of a movie that clearly copied Aliens. The arachnids reminded me a lot of the alien creature when I first saw them. But actually I liked Starship Troopers. I also like The Guardian, despite the fact it copies some scenes from a great movie, Top Gun. Like the pickup bet at the bar. But in general I hate plagiarism.
Excuse me, but Starship Troopers was a book written in 1959....Aliens was inspired by Starship Troopers, not the other way around. Oh and I kinda suspected you were a writer because of your apparent dislike of plagiarism and how passionate you sound about the subject. I've spoken to dozens of writers who talk like you.
@Nineteen1900Hundred Really? Interesting. You were right about that. Maybe that's why I hate plagiarism so much. As for Starship Troopers, I was comparing the movie that came out in 1997. Aliens (1986) is a sequel to Alien (1979). I'm comparing a movie to a movie, not a movie to a book, because a movie is very visual while a book is not. A book leaves more to our imagination than a movie does.
When I saw Starship Troopers I felt like the whole idea of space marines going to another planet to fight the bugs was directly stolen from Aliens. In Aliens we have a group of marines going to an alien planet to attack insect-like aliens, the same thing happens in Starship Troopers. I wonder why! Because they stole the idea from Aliens. Modern movies steal a lot of good ideas from Aliens.
TO BE CONTINUED (damn i'm gonna need another comment)
Again, all the things you are listing are STORY based (Space marines fighting aliens)...NOT visual. So again I will say that the Starship Troopers BOOK was the inspiration. Don't get me wrong I love both but you just gotta know where and when things get inpsired by other stuff, especially if we are all Sci-Fi geeks.
@Nineteen1900Hundred Ok then, maybe Aliens took a little inspiration from the book Starship Troopers, while Starship Troopers the movie took a little inspiration from Aliens. That being said, I still think Aliens is a very original movie that everybody copied time and time again. I like both movies as well.
@nunoanjos1 - While I think Aliens is a much superior film than Starship Troopers, the book to Starship Troopers was written many, many years before Aliens came out......so you obviously dont know what you are talking about. Plus, I find both stories to be different enough to where neither one copied the other. While they both involve aliens and marines.....so do about One Hundred and fifty-thousand other movies/books and that doesn't mean they all copy each other.
@kmccarney88 Neither one copied the other? Go read some wikipedia about Starship Troopers, it will prove you wrong. So you obviously don't know what you are talking about. So many movies? WOW. Here's a challenge for you. Name more movies that feature space marines travelling to an alien world to fight aliens, on a so-called "bug hunt". Game on buddy. If you don't reply to my challenge that's cuz u don't have an answer (u can't back ur own BS), so you lose lol
@nunoanjos1 - I clearly wrote movies AND books: The Forever War (1974) The Martian Chronicles (1950) At Any Price (1985) Old Man's War and The Ghost Brigades.
Game Over idiot! YOU LOSE! Any more brain busters??? By the way, I love how you are still defending your statement about starship troopers copying Aliens.....WHEN STARSHIP TROOPERS WAS WRITTEN 27 YEARS BEFORE ALIENS!! You, sir, are a complete f*cking idiot.
I've seen the APC from Aliens in so many other movies, and robots who look just like the power loader from Aliens, that Ripley rides near the end of the movie.
Yeah. So what? What would you prefer to watch?....AVATAR which includes blue aliens, glowing jungles, helicopters vs dragons, mech-suits vs alien panther and all that good sci-fi shit.....OR....Pocahontas....a disney cartoon about some native american and a fat bad guy and some blonde asshole....
@Nineteen1900Hundred honest answer... neighter. Just like Titanic avatar is WAY to overated. You watch it the first time: EPIC... the second time... wait something's wrong here. And then you just start laughing at how bad the movie actually is.
is it visually stunning? yea. That's it. Disney's Pocahontas is on the otherhand historically incorrect. So if anything... I'll go watch Shawshank Redemption...
Because Scott is showing us a film with technology and design that was not in the original films. Thus things taking place in the past with design of that past. Not being in the future is because it either doesn't happen or because it doesn't exist = why?
Continuity is story breaking before the film even exists. The sub conscience picks these things up and you the viewer are taken out of the story as a result.
@movieclipsTRAILERS Yeah whoever your composer is, hes a genius!! I thought it was music from the actual film etc!! Shame there isnt a fuller version!
@soap1st So is that not Ridley Scott at 0:41? that's real, he said its when they go to the alien planet (lv 426) and make contact with the space jockeys, but someone steals something and it all goes wrong, as Ridley himself said ''it will share original Dna with the first film but everything else will be original.

@Zorolord

DarthJake123 2 months ago

Ridley Scott filming this in total 3d from the Gecko and not adding it after the movie is done should make this movie something beautiful and creepy.
blacklipsandcorsets 2 months ago
I'm a really big alien franchise fan and after researching many different sites regarding the film and looking at 2 of the leaked screenplays (may or may not be accurate) so I'll explain what will happen in the film.
The beginning of the film will show the begginning of mankinds creation (we were created by the spacejokeys). in the near future (no dates are given) we find spacejockey atifacts and discover where they're home world is. So we send the Prometheus with a crew to make first contact
Glaswegianmark 2 months ago
2:
But several traitors (or mercenaris) are on the prometheus and have incidious agendas (mabye a plot to steal technology and sell it back on earth). after arriving at the homeworld there may be 2 scenario's. the first is that we find it destroyed but on a SpaceJockey ship they find artifacts, eggs, dead bodies and a wounded but alive Spacejockey (with an alien inside it's chest). an egg or 2 hatches including the spacejockey alien. they try and find a way off the planet
Glaswegianmark 2 months ago
3:
or they find the planet and meet with the SJ (space jockeys). the SJ explain how they created us and explain how they can create life via genetic cloning. the traitors on the prometheus do something to piss off the SJ and they attack the humans. They hijack a SJ ship and force the pilot to take off but unaware on board are alien eggs. aliens hatch and attack everyone including the pilot who sends out a distress call. humans battle the humanoid and SJ alien as they try and escape
Glaswegianmark 2 months ago
4:
I'd go for finding the SJ world destroyed due to the film photgraphs released. PIC of 2 woman studying what appears to be alien egg with alien body nearby. on IDMb it has a large cast with some characters reffered to as Cacooned man and Mercenary. We know the alien will appear but will be very different in form than we're use to. not sure if LV426 will appear but it had a SJ ship in it, or it could may be the Prometheus ship (pics of prometheus look like the Lv426 ship)
your thoughts???????

@Nineteen1900Hundred Actually Avatar copied Pocahontas lol. New movies nowadays, it's almost always the same sad old story... There's nothing new about them.
nunoanjos1 2 months ago
@nunoanjos1 and just what makes it sad lol a good story is timeless. we've been rehashing the same good ol' tales with new settings, characters and twists since the dawn of storytelling and only now in this age of Hollywood are people complaining about it.. we've become collectively ADD
joebeaudette21 2 months ago 9
@joebeaudette21 You missed my point at all. I don't like plagiarism, period. I apreciate original ideas. Alien was an original movie. Aliens as well. But years after those classics, you see tons of new movies copying and stealing ideas from the alien franchise. So don't talk about the dawn of times. In the 80s there were plenty of original movies, that everybody copies in the present.
nunoanjos1 2 months ago
@nunoanjos1
Nineteen1900Hundred 2 months ago
@Nineteen1900Hundred Plagiarism pisses me off indeed. I wrote some books in the past, how did you know? It's very cool to create characters, develop them and create fictional worlds. I know it's harder to come up with original ideas, so? I'd be a lazy coward if I stole ideas from other people. I think it's morally wrong. I agree with you that inspiration and plagiarism are 2 different thiings, but sometimes the boundary is too blurry. It varies from person to person.
nunoanjos1 2 months ago
@nunoanjos1 HAHA to say Alien was completely original is way false. That movie was predominantly influenced and modeled after a group of science-fiction novels that acted as his inspirations.The screenwriter Dan O'Bannon said himself that he didn't steal the story from anybody, he stole it from everybody. He was originally influenced by a short movie (Dark Star) which he had a slight hand in, and then drew the rest of his ideas and inspirations from a number of different novels.
whisperatruth 2 months ago
@joebeaudette21 Well said. Avatar, The Last Samurai, Pocahontas and such others are so similar to one another yet they're all great movies nontheless.
HonorGuard117 2 months ago
@nunoanjos1
Nineteen1900Hundred 2 months ago
@Nineteen1900Hundred Oh ok, to be honest I didn't read what was said before, just your comment. So thanks for telling me. And Starship Troopers is another case of a movie that clearly copied Aliens. The arachnids reminded me a lot of the alien creature when I first saw them. But actually I liked Starship Troopers. I also like The Guardian, despite the fact it copies some scenes from a great movie, Top Gun. Like the pickup bet at the bar. But in general I hate plagiarism.
nunoanjos1 2 months ago
@nunoanjos1
Nineteen1900Hundred 2 months ago
@Nineteen1900Hundred Really? Interesting. You were right about that. Maybe that's why I hate plagiarism so much. As for Starship Troopers, I was comparing the movie that came out in 1997. Aliens (1986) is a sequel to Alien (1979). I'm comparing a movie to a movie, not a movie to a book, because a movie is very visual while a book is not. A book leaves more to our imagination than a movie does.
TO BE CONTINUED...
nunoanjos1 2 months ago
@Nineteen1900Hundred
Part 2/3:
When I saw Starship Troopers I felt like the whole idea of space marines going to another planet to fight the bugs was directly stolen from Aliens. In Aliens we have a group of marines going to an alien planet to attack insect-like aliens, the same thing happens in Starship Troopers. I wonder why! Because they stole the idea from Aliens. Modern movies steal a lot of good ideas from Aliens.
TO BE CONTINUED (damn i'm gonna need another comment)
nunoanjos1 2 months ago
@nunoanjos1 in case u havent known Starship troopers was a old science fiction novel by robert heinlein
damselfiend 2 months ago
@nunoanjos1
Nineteen1900Hundred 2 months ago
@Nineteen1900Hundred Ok then, maybe Aliens took a little inspiration from the book Starship Troopers, while Starship Troopers the movie took a little inspiration from Aliens. That being said, I still think Aliens is a very original movie that everybody copied time and time again. I like both movies as well.

@nunoanjos1 - While I think Aliens is a much superior film than Starship Troopers, the book to Starship Troopers was written many, many years before Aliens came out......so you obviously dont know what you are talking about. Plus, I find both stories to be different enough to where neither one copied the other. While they both involve aliens and marines.....so do about One Hundred and fifty-thousand other movies/books and that doesn't mean they all copy each other.
kmccarney88 2 months ago
@kmccarney88 Neither one copied the other? Go read some wikipedia about Starship Troopers, it will prove you wrong. So you obviously don't know what you are talking about. So many movies? WOW. @ryonafan
