i just got cast as millie in our high school's production of this show. honestly, walk into the audition with A LOT of spunk because that is one thing millie MUST have. not to mention you have to knock the vocal out of the park because she is a super strong vocal lead. exude confidence, spunk, and a SICK vocal audition and you've got it!

Acting wise, the "rocking" works as Millie WOULD be nervous upon her arrival in the big city. To say she is a character who is not or is never nervous couldn't be more wrong. The entire purpose of the opening number is to show her transformation from country mouse, who is out of step literally, to bobbed city wise modern.
