  • I like rows since if it's dumbbells you can hyperextend your shoulder! You can't really do that so easily with pullups unless you arch your back

  • I never keep my upper body horizontal like that when I'm doing rows, cus the weights are pretty heavy and I feel like falling forward =P Great video though. I love doing rows because they are really intense to do. Makes you feel like you are really doing something.

  • I find one problem with the way how you are doing this exercise.

    OK. It is the position. You are doing it with 90 - 110 degrees bending. That will create lots of pressure on your low back. Dorian Yates has a very good way of doing this.

    You just have to bend your knees a little and that will take off most of the pressure from your lower back. I don't say that there will be no pressure there, but it will be much less.

  • deadlifts actually don't work your lats and shoulders to much. If you are performing them correctly they work mainly your lower back, forearms, and a little bit of legs. It's mainly to hit lower back though.

    When i do deadlifts i don't feel it in my legs to much because it shouldn't be like that. It's an exercise meant for back not legs.

  • stiff leg deadlifts work lower back, bent legged deadlifts work the whole back. so yes you are correct :D

  • The deadlift isn´t meant for any particular bodypart like for instance DB flies are. It´s a whole body exercise and you can put your emphasis on legs or back. If you pull your shoulders back on the top you will feel your lats like never before. i promise :)

  • You're clearly doing deadlifts wrong if you don't feel it in your legs. I watch guys in my gym throw 800 on a bar and deadlift it, now do you think their lower back is lifting 800 pounds? Obviously not, it's their legs. You need to reconsider your form. Traditional deadlifts are mostly a leg exercise but do hit a number of upper body muscles as well.

  • you clearly weren't listening.. he said when you are doing dead lifts, you are working your quads and hamstrings both of which are leg muscles

    Or you can do self assisted pullups. That is, perform the pullup while your feet are on the ground.

    For working out lats is it best to do overhand pullups or use a lat press pull down machine. Cos i have access to a gym all year round cos im at university and dont have space for home workouts.
